Pokemon: Reborn As Ash, I'll Conquer Every League

Chapter 216: Chapter 216: Going to the Sky to ’Fish’

Chapter 216: Going to the Sky to ’Fish’

The so-called special Pokemon on Pidgey Island are actually just oversized Pidgey. Because they have had no natural predators for a long time, these Pidgey have gradually forgotten that they have wings and the ability to fly.

After some conversation, Ash’s group helped the young man carry his luggage to a suspension bridge connected to Pidgey Island, with a whirlpool swirling in the sea below it.

Looking at the suspension bridge swaying in the wind, Brock asked, ”Are you sure... we need to take this bridge?”

”There is a whirlpool below, so we cannot take a boat. This suspension bridge is the only way across besides flying.”

No sooner had the group stepped onto the bridge than a strong sea breeze blew up from below, causing the bridge to spin with the wind and eventually fling Ash and the others onto Pidgey Island.

”Ouch!” Brock wailed, clutching his head.

”This bridge is too mischievous, isn’t it? How can a gust of wind make it sway enough to throw people off?”

Ash was also left speechless by the sheer absurdity of the suspension bridge.

”Alright, we have arrived at Pidgey Island.” The young man had a great attitude, clearly accustomed to this method of arrival.

”Everyone come over, I’ve brought the food...”

As the young man’s voice carried across the island, a flock of oversized Pidgey, so fat they were almost spherical, came running over.

”So... so big! Is this really a Pidgey?”

”That’s right. They are protected by the whirlpool, so their natural predators cannot reach this place...” the young man explained the origin of these large Pidgey.

In the sky, the Team Rocket Trio also followed, piloting their hot air balloon.

”Is that also a Pidgey? It’s so huge!” James exclaimed.

”No matter how big or fat they are, a Pidgey is still a Pidgey, Meowth!”

Jessie interrupted James and Meowth’s conversation, shouting, ”Now is not the time to observe those fat birds. Keep an eye on the Ash; that stinking woman is asking for information again.”

”Yes, yes, yes!”

Seeing Jessie angry, James and Meowth dared not cross her.

”This is the only building on the island, and also where I sleep.”

Ash’s group arrived at the only wooden house on the island.

Whoosh! Suddenly, a figure streaked past at high speed.

”Is that a Pidgey?” Ash asked, looking at the figure.

The young man nodded, ”Yes, that is Orville.”

He then looked at the roof and saw a normal-sized Pidgey wearing a hat standing on the eaves.

” Orville, how is the situation?”

”Pidgey~”

After this Pidgey responded simply, it lowered its head and used its beak to preen the feathers under its wings.

”That Pidgey seems different from the ones on the island! Its size is normal, and it flies very fast!” Misty said.

”It is indeed different from many Pidgey on the island, but it was truly born on this island, and it is a special Pidgey that wants to fly into the high sky.”

After entering the wooden house, Ash’s group saw a special mural.

The mural depicted a Pidgey flying towards the sun.

Misty patted Ash on the shoulder and said, ”Ash, look, the content of this painting is so strange!”

”It does look strange, but this painting is several hundred years old. It depicts the ambition of ancient Pidgey to fly higher and further,” Ash explained.

Brock said, ”But, is this really possible? Pidgey are so small. Even if they can fly to an altitude of a few hundred meters, at thousands or tens of thousands of meters, the temperature gradually drops. Given the condition of a Pidgey, how high can it really fly?”

”It’s not impossible. A Pidgey’s own ability isn’t enough, but with external help, reaching ten thousand meters is not a problem.”

Ash thought of the best assist-king—the true protagonists, the Team Rocket Trio.

”Pidgey?” (What external help?) Orville flew in front of Ash and asked.

”Do you really want to fly higher? Then go find a talking Meowth. They are on this island. Once you find them, just ask them to come find us,” Ash said.

Orville nodded and then flew out of the wooden house.

Before long, it found the Team Rocket Trio who were planning to land.

”Pidgey...” (Are you the ones who can give me a Helping Hand to fly into the high sky?)

”???” Meowth was full of question marks upon hearing what the Pidgey said.

”Pidgey.” After Orville’s explanation, Meowth looked up at Jessie and James with a bitter face and said, ”The Ash said he wants to have a chat with us.”

”Chat about what? We just arrived, and we haven’t done anything bad. What is there to chat about?” Jessie asked, confused.

”I don’t know either, Meowth!” Meowth was also puzzled.

In the end, the Team Rocket Trio had no choice but to helplessly follow Orville towards the wooden house.

Misty looked at the Team Rocket Trio and asked Ash, ”Ash, the method you mentioned, could it be Team Rockets?”

”That’s right. Don’t the three of them always say they are the Elite ones of Team Rockets? Let them give it a try,” Ash smiled.

In fact, he had his own selfish motives. After all, the sky was the territory of the ’Shinny Caterpie’. Ash wanted to see if his luck was good enough to take the opportunity to get a ’Shinny Caterpie’.

After some friend(threat)ly con(coer)ver(cion)sation, the Team Rocket Trio compromised, and they immediately began modifying their hot air balloon.

The next day, early morning.

Ash’s group boarded the Team Rocket hot air balloon and followed the figure of the Pidgey, flying towards the sky.

Not long after they set off, Orville encountered a flock of migrating Spearow.

Orville’s speed completely blew past these Spearow.

However, when the altitude rose to ten thousand feet, a Fearow charged straight towards Orville.

”Pikachu, use Thunderbolt to drive away the Fearow.”

Pikachu launched itself, flew behind the Fearow, and released a low-power Thunderbolt to drive the Fearow away.

As the altitude gradually increased, the oxygen content became thinner and thinner.

Seeing that the situation was not good, Meowth used the communication device to persuade Orville to return.

Ash had his Aura fully activated, attempting to search for the presence of a ’Shinny Caterpie’. Until Orville returned, he did not discover the figure of Rayquaza.

”Ash, what are you looking for?” Misty looked at Ash in Telekinesis.

”No... nothing.”

Ash shook his head, then mobilized Natural Power to heal Orville.

After healing Orville, the hot air balloon unhelpfully began to fall. Ash knew his chance had come, so he immediately released Deoxys.

He conveyed through Aura: ”Deoxys, quickly use Telekinesis to catch them as they descend.”

Deoxys nodded and released Telekinesis to slow down their descent.

Meanwhile, in the ozone layer thousands of kilometers away from them.

A jet-black Rayquaza, as if sensing an Aura that it found repulsive, dove straight towards it.

The closer it got to Pidgey Island where Ash’s group was located, the more hostile it became towards that Aura.

It was not the only Rayquaza that could sense Deoxys, but the other Rayquaza, having sensed this black one rushing over, suppressed their own inner impulses.
