Chapter 43: Chapter 43: The Battle of Shrimp and Pig Heart at the Withered Leaf Gym

Chapter 43: The Battle of Shrimp and Pig Heart at the Withered Leaf Gym

”A top-grade Moon Stone?”

Gary was stunned, then decisively agreed to the trade, saying, ”Deliver it first, or else, hehe...”

”Here, remember not to mention anything about Serena!” Ash reluctantly slipped the Moon Stone into Gary’s hand.

Misty and Brock just quietly watched the two of them, whispering to each other on the side.

And their nearby Pikachu and Gardevoir, with their exceptional hearing, were already discussing Ash’s fate.

”Pika Pika” (Sigh, I knew this would happen.)

”Gardevoir Gardevoir” (I expected it, but it seems Gary has other plans.)

”Pika?” (Really?)

”Gardevoir Gardevoir” (Yes, he plans to secretly tell Serena about Ash’s matter.)

”Pika Pi, Pikachu?” (Gardevoir, do you think Serena will be like that girl with the braid, riding a Dragonite to find Ash?)

”Gardevoir, Gardevoir” (I don’t know, but I miss my sister.)

....

After the PY transaction, Gary indeed stopped bringing up the topic of Ash and Misty’s relationship. After chatting about the Vermilion City Gym’s information, Gary left.

Only at parting, he gave Misty a meaningful smile and said, ”Good luck.”

Misty didn’t think much of it. She only thought this was an assist from Ash’s playmate, an encouragement for her to pursue love.

”By the way, Ash, what Pokemon are you planning to use to challenge the Vermilion City Gym?” Brock asked.

Gary had just provided some basic information about the Vermilion City Gym. The Vermilion City Gym is Electric-type, and the Gym Leader Lt. Surge is a master of using Electric-type Pokemon.

Among the Pokemon Ash has, only Giant Onix and Bulbasaur have a type advantage. Brock didn’t think Ash couldn’t win; he just wanted to know how much strength Ash planned to show.

”It depends on the rules. If it’s a 1-on-1, I’ll use Pikachu. If it’s a 3-on-3, I’ll use Pikachu, Bulbasaur, and Charmander,” Ash said uncertainly.

In the original work, it was 1-on-1. He didn’t know if Lt. Surge would change the rules after seeing his Pikachu and Gardevoir.

Anyway, Pikachu is definitely going to battle. As for the others, there’s no rush. Using Pikachu is naturally to teach Lt. Surge a lesson.

”Pikachu against Raichu? That’s not easy, after all, Raichu is Pikachu’s evolved form...” Misty said.

”Pika Pika!”

Pikachu immediately became defiant. That big fat mouse is just bigger in size, what’s so great about that?

Seeing Pikachu’s fighting spirit ignited, Ash knew this battle would be a crushing victory.

Ten minutes later, Ash and his friends arrived in front of the Vermilion City Gym.

Upon hearing that someone had come to challenge the Gym, the Vermilion City Gym didn’t ask the usual questions and directly led Ash to the battle arena.

Gym Leader Lt. Surge was a burly middle-aged man with spiky yellow hair.

”Is this person the Gym Leader of this Gym?” Misty could hardly believe it.

”Welcome to the Vermilion City Gym. Who is the challenger?” Lt. Surge asked.

”It’s me.”

Ash, with Pikachu and Gardevoir, stood in the Trainer’s command area.

”Oh, this time the challenger is a baby-level Trainer!” Lt. Surge lost his fighting interest upon seeing Ash’s height.

”It’s not certain who’s the baby-level Trainer yet. I’m Ash from Pallet Town, and I’m here to challenge you. Let’s bet on the gym badge.”

”Alright, I accept your challenge.”

Both stood in the command area. The next moment, the referee’s voice came: ”This is a Gym battle between Ash from Pallet Town and Ku Ye Gym Leader Lt. Surge. One Pokemon can be used. Let the battle begin!”

”Go, Poke Ball!”

Lt. Surge threw Raichu’s Poke Ball.

[Pokemon: Raichu]

[Gender: Male]

[Level: Gym Mid-tier]

[Ability: Static]

[Aptitude: Gym]

[Skills: Omitted]

[Description: This is a Pokemon whose aptitude has declined due to premature evolution and long-term absorption of large amounts of external electricity, overdrawing its potential... ]

Is this a Trainer from Team Rockets? They really are selfish guys.

Looking at Raichu’s description, Ash really wanted to throw a wave and blow up Lt. Surge.

He looked at Pikachu: ”Pikachu, I choose you!”

”Pika!” (No problem!)

Seeing Ash send out Pikachu instead of the Gardevoir beside him, Lt. Surge said disdainfully, ”Baby Trainers are just baby Trainers. The Pokemon they send out are also baby Pokemon. I’ll give you the first move.”

”Then I won’t be polite. Pikachu, Quick Attack!”

”Pika!”

Pikachu instantly transformed into a streak of lightning, rushing towards Raichu.

Seeing Ash command Pikachu to walk into a trap, Lt. Surge ordered, ”Raichu, catch it, then use Body Slam!”

”Rai Rai!”

Raichu nodded silently. It had already imagined Pikachu being flattened.

”Blind arrogance will lead to suffering. Pikachu, Iron Tail!”

Quick Attack is not a killing move; it’s just accumulating potential energy. The real killing move is the Giant Beast Slash, unleashed by absorbing speed potential energy.

Ash thought of this move when battling Ancient Dragonite.

Pikachu curled its body, its tail glowing white, and flew towards Raichu like a spinning top.

”What?” Lt. Surge, seeing this illogical move, quickly shouted, ”Raichu, dodge quickly!”

Raichu’s body was larger than Pikachu’s, so its speed was already a disadvantage. Coupled with Lt. Surge not compensating for this weakness, Raichu couldn’t dodge in time and was hit in the face by Pikachu’s tail, sending it flying into the wall at the edge of the arena.

”Raichu!” Lt. Surge looked anxiously at Raichu.

”Rai... Rai”

Raichu propped itself up with both hands, struggling to get up.

Ash wanted to teach Lt. Surge a profound lesson, and this one tail hit was certainly not profound enough, so he specially had Pikachu hold back a bit, which is why Raichu didn’t directly lose its ability to battle.

Pikachu also triggered a passive skill, feigning great exhaustion.

Seeing this, Lt. Surge didn’t suspect much and immediately believed it. ”Raichu, that Pikachu is done for. Finish it with Thunderbolt!”

”Pikachu, eat it!”

Ash once again gave an order that Lt. Surge couldn’t understand.

Looking at the incoming lightning, Pikachu not only wasn’t scared but was even a little excited.

A Gym-level Raichu, even fully charged, might not be able to harm a quasi-Elite-level Pikachu, especially since Pikachu’s ability is Lightning Rod.

After taking the Thunderbolt, Pikachu was full of electricity.

”Damn it!”

Seeing this, Lt. Surge’s Trainer’s heart almost collapsed. He increasingly felt that Ash had come prepared.

”Pikachu, let Raichu also taste Thunderbolt!”

To kill a shrimp, you must pierce its heart.

Since Lt. Surge likes to play with Electric-type moves, he should suffer utter humiliation and a crushing defeat by Electric-type moves.

After the lightning, Raichu was charred black, its eyes spinning in circles, having lost its ability to battle.

”Raichu is unable to battle. Pikachu wins, so the winner is Ash from Pallet Town.”

Lt. Surge, with a dark expression, handed the gym badge to Ash, then silently picked up the Raichu on the ground and ran towards the Pokémon Center.
