Pokemon: Reborn As Ash, I'll Conquer Every League

Chapter 22: Chapter 22 Miacha Mountain

Chapter 22 Miacha Mountain

The next day.

Ash and Kirlia had also returned to normal, but they still couldn’t make contact with Pikachu.

He had tried to use Aura for protection and then approach Pikachu, but Aura could only protect for a while, not forever, and activating the protection consumed a lot of stamina.

Of course, Ash got a method to solve this problem from Nurse Joy.

That was to find an enemy for Pikachu to vent the electricity accumulated in its body; as long as a part of the large amount of electricity absorbed from the outside was released, Pikachu would be able to completely control the violent lightning within its body.

”Ash! I knew you guys would be at the Pokémon Center.”

Brock jogged over to Ash and Misty.

Ash looked at Brock, who was carrying a travel bag, looking like he was about to travel, and he asked knowingly, ”Brock, you are...”

”Ash, I want to travel with you, I wonder if that’s okay?” Brock asked.

”Of course, but if you leave, what about Pewter Gym?”

”Just yesterday, after you left, my father came back. He will resume his position as Gym Leader, and my younger brother James will also learn how to become a qualified Gym Trainer with my father...”

”Then, Brock, please guide me more in the future.”

Who would refuse a diligent and uncomplaining nanny? From the day they set off, Ash had been hoping Brock would join the team soon, so that many chores, such as making fires, cooking, and feeding Pokémon, would have dedicated people to do them.

Of course, Ash’s cooking skills were excellent, but compared to cooking, he preferred to train Pikachu and the others.

”Please guide me more in the future. My name is Misty, I’m a world-class beauty from Cerulean City, and my goal is to become a Water-type Pokémon Master.” Misty said somewhat conceitedly.

”Uh...” Brock broke into a sweat and responded with a forced smile, ”Please guide me more in the future. My name is Brock, the Pewter Gym Trainer.”

After a simple introduction, Ash embarked on his journey again.

Because of Pikachu, Ash decided to temporarily change his itinerary and prepare to go to Mt. Moon.

Pewter City was not far from Mt. Moon, but Ash needed to retrace quite a bit of his steps. However, for Pikachu, this detour was acceptable.

....

”Ash, is there really a Giant Onix on Mt. Moon like you said?”

As an experienced Onix Trainer, Brock was full of curiosity about the creature that Ash mentioned, which was several times larger than a normal Onix.

”Giant Onix do exist. They should be special Totem Pokémon.”

Totem Pokémon are relatively common in the Alola region. The Alola region does not have Gym challenges, so Totem Pokémon became checkpoints for testing Trainers. Over time, this formed a ritual called the Island Challenge.

Totem Pokémon also exist in the wild in other regions, but most of these Totem Pokémon are hidden in deep mountains and old forests, unknown to most people.

If that Giant Onix hadn’t had a Sandslash stuck in its body, it might not have even emerged from underground.

”Totem Pokémon, what are those? Are they new Pokémon?”

Misty was confused.

”Totem Pokémon are not new Pokémon. They are just much larger than normal ones, but they are covered in a special Totem Aura that attracts Pokémon of the same kind to form groups, and they may also call upon these clan members to fight together during battle...”

Along the way, Ash patiently explained what he knew to Misty and Brock.

Gradually, both of them silently labeled Ash as a top student.

Soon, the group arrived near the Giant Onix’s habitat.

Looking at the crisscrossing large indentations on the ground, Misty and Brock were completely convinced by Ash.

”Pikachu, you’ll soon find an opponent to vent on.”

Ash said to Pikachu, who was half a meter away.

This distance was personally tested by Ash as the optimal distance for Aura to counteract the lightning’s influence.

”Pika!”

Pika’s strong desire to battle was ignited. He also wanted to control the lightning in his body as soon as possible, so he could stand on Ash’s shoulder again like before.

Rumble!

Suddenly, the ground trembled, and dust rose from a distance, as if some terrifying creature was rushing towards Ash and his companions.

This scene filled Ash with excitement. He didn’t expect it to go so smoothly; the target came right to him as soon as he arrived. He said to Kirlia, ”Kirlia, take Misty and Brock to a safe place.”

Just by the commotion, he knew that this Totem-level Giant Onix’s strength was extraordinary. Ash could only ensure his own personal safety with Aura and Psychic abilities. It was too dangerous to have Misty and the others stand with him.

”Kirlia.”

Kirlia responded and then teleported Misty and Brock to a large rock nearby.

As soon as they left, an enormous Onix with a deep cross-shaped scar on its face rushed madly towards Ash’s location.

[Pokémon: Giant Onix (Totem)]

[Gender: Male]

[Level: 47]

[Ability: Sturdy]

[Potential: Quasi-Champion]

[Skills: Bind, Tackle, Harden, Sandstorm, Dragon Breath, Smack Down, Heavy Slam (Hereditary), Hidden Power, Sand Tomb, Stone Edge...]

”No wonder this guy could make Elite Bruno travel thousands of miles to catch it. I didn’t expect its talent to be so high, and its skill set is also outrageous.”

The hereditary skill Heavy Slam: the heavier the user is compared to the opponent, the greater the power. Onix is already a large, heavy Pokémon, so even a normal Tackle skill, with the added power of its massive body and super-heavy weight, would have enough kinetic energy. And this guy in front of me is several times larger than a normal Onix. If it used Heavy Slam, even if it couldn’t fly, it would probably be knocked back two steps.

”Onix, catch battle! If you win, I’ll help you get the Sandslash out of your body. If you lose, you’ll come with me.”

Ash conveyed his meaning using Aura.

”Roar!” (Okay!)

”Go, Pikachu, say hello to Onix with Thunderbolt!”

”Pika~chu.”

Flashes of lightning appeared from the two electric sacs on Pikachu’s cheeks, and then a golden lightning bolt as thick as a bucket struck the Giant Onix’s face.

This sudden attack made Onix grit its teeth, evidently, Pikachu’s Thunderbolt caused it considerable damage.

Normally, in a catch battle, Ash would definitely not let Pikachu use such a powerful move, but now Pikachu had vast electrical energy accumulated in its body, greatly increasing Thunderbolt’s power. Furthermore, this was the real world, not a game, so Onix couldn’t be immune to Electric-type damage.

However, this also made Onix drop its guard. Originally, when it saw Ash send out an Electric-type yellow mouse for a catch battle, it thought Ash was a novice who didn’t even understand type advantages. But now, it seemed this human had planned this for a long time, specifically to make it lower its guard.

Roar!

Onix let out a piercing Growl, then quickly used Dig to burrow underground.

After a brief tremor, the ground returned to calm.

Ash, who was constantly using Aura to detect, knew that Onix hadn’t escaped, but was hiding underground, preparing for a Sucker Punch.

”Pikachu, fly up and keep an eye on the ground. When Onix breaks out, use maximum power Electric Net.”

As a Transmigrator who had received compulsory education and higher education, Ash had a tiny bit of understanding of physics. Pikachu flying up was a small trick of electromagnetic control.

After Pikachu left the ground, Onix, hiding underground, lost its target. If it hadn’t still been able to sense that Ash hadn’t left, it would have thought that yellow mouse had escaped.

(It’s reasonable for Rock and Ground-type Onix to sense ground vibrations underground, right?)
