Pokemon: Reborn As Ash, I'll Conquer Every League

Chapter 2: Chapter 2 Summer Camp

Chapter 2 Summer Camp

Ash said somewhat speechlessly, ”Doctor, compared to these, I think it would be better for the Alliance to assign you a chef, so you don’t have to cook instant noodles with laboratory instruments every day.”

Regarding things like the Evolution Stone, with Dr. Oak’s status, if he wanted the best, all he had to do was say a word, and someone would immediately deliver them. The key stone might be a bit more precious, but Mega Evolution research was not Dr. Oak’s main focus. Ash had lent him one for research before, which was completely sufficient.

”Cough cough, I only cook it ’a billion’ times occasionally.”

Dr. Oak responded somewhat awkwardly.

”Grandpa, it seems Ash hasn’t arrived yet~”

Just then, a young boy with a spiky haircut walked over, yawning, looking completely unawake.

”???”

Ash was speechless. He was standing right there, a grown person, and you didn’t see him?

He said helplessly, ”Gary, you’re the one who’s late, aren’t you!”

”Huh?! Ash, why are you here?”

”I’m your grandpa’s assistant, so why do you think I’m here?”

Ծ‸ Ծ

”Damn it, Ash, you only know how to show off with that identity, it’s really infuriating!” Gary was both angry and helpless.

”Sigh, what a childish temper.”

╮(╯▽╰)╭

Ash spread his hands, indicating helplessness.

”You....”

Gary was about to flare up, but Dr. Oak, who was watching from the side, quickly spoke up to mediate.

”Summer Camp is about to begin. Both of you need to maintain a good mood to make more new friends. It’s not good to scare people by being noisy.”

Sometimes Dr. Oak really couldn’t understand why these two little guys always quarreled for various reasons every time they met. Was it incompatible personalities, or were they doing it on purpose?

”Gary, I, as an adult, won’t hold grudges against a child. I’ll reluctantly forgive you this time.” Ash put on a magnanimous air.

Ash didn’t actually dislike Gary, but Gary’s personality was truly hard for him to compliment. Other staff members in the research institute, out of respect for Gary being Dr. Oak’s grandson, flattered him and curried favor with him. Coupled with his family’s indulgence, this led Gary to develop an arrogant and frivolous personality.

In the original work, didn’t Gary lose in the Indigo Plateau Conference because he was too arrogant and didn’t take the other contestants seriously, using his second-string team to mess around, which resulted in him not even making it to the Top 16? If he were just a young master from an ordinary family, the Top 32 would indeed be a good result. But he was the grandson of the first Champion of the Kanto region. A Top 32 record in his first year of travel? It was only because Dr. Oak was easygoing and didn’t mind. If he had a more demanding and strict grandfather, it would be lucky if he wasn’t hung up for some ’tough love’ education.

”What did you say?” (▼ヘ▼#)

These two guys really are...

At this moment, Dr. Oak felt that children were the most annoying.

”Never mind, it’s getting late. The children coming for Summer Camp should all be here. Let’s go quickly.”

As usual, Dr. Oak set the Summer Camp location at the edge of Viridian Forest, still a certain distance from his own research institute.

Leaving the research institute, Dr. Oak looked at the two still competing with each other and couldn’t help but think, ”I hope no more troublesome children appear at this Summer Camp.”

.....

At the edge of Viridian Forest, in front of the Summer Camp base.

”Summer Camp, the future most, most, most powerful Pokémon Master Goh is here!”

A dark-skinned child, wearing a gray T-shirt and with a disgusting hairstyle, started yelling loudly as soon as he got out of the car.

That’s right, this little boy was the famous One-Ball Wonder... Goh. (Growlithe, Arcanine, etc.: This guy doesn’t deserve to tarnish the word ’dog’.)

A little girl who got out of the car after him saw this, lowered her head, and subtly moved to the side, clearly acting as if she didn’t know the boy and didn’t want to be associated with an idiot.

Goh looked back, and regardless of what the girl was thinking, he said directly, ”Koharu, what are you being shy about? As long as I catch the most powerful Pokemon, I can directly become the strongest.”

”Goh, Pokemon don’t have strengths or weaknesses. As long as they are properly trained, they can also exert good combat power. Also, Goh, with your personality, you won’t make new friends,” Koharu said somewhat angrily.

As the daughter of Professor Cerise, the director of the Sakuragi Research Institute, her view on Pokemon was completely different from Goh’s. She preferred to be friends with Pokemon, while Goh believed Pokemon were tools, capital for showing off.

In other words, Koharu was like Ash in the original work, loving and passionate about Pokemon, while Goh was more like a gamer, pursuing the strongest or enjoying collecting.

”Making friends is too much of a waste of time. I’m going to catch the most powerful Pokemon and become the strongest Pokémon Master, so I don’t have time to make friends. And what’s the use of friends? They can’t feed me, nor can they give me powerful Pokemon,” Goh said with disdain.

However, his words successfully aroused dissatisfaction among the surrounding children.

Most of the children who came to Dr. Oak’s Summer Camp, apart from a small number from around Pallet Town, had some kind of background, and those children looked at Goh with some hostility.

”Is this the Kanto region? It’s indeed different from Kalos, but how is it a little different from what Mom said? I hope I can make new friends....”

In a corner, a little girl with her hat pulled low spoke with a mix of nervousness and anticipation.

When she briefly saw Goh, who was like a clown in the center of the crowd, a hint of disgust flashed in her eyes, and at the same time, she had already removed Goh from her list of potential friends. She would never be friends with such a disgusting person.

.....

”Doctor, is this the list of participants and the activity content for the Summer Camp?”

As soon as Ash got in the car, he saw the folder placed on the passenger seat.

”The list is correct, but this Summer Camp activity content is just a general framework. The specific implementation needs to be adjusted according to the actual situation.”

That’s what he said, but in reality, Dr. Oak had not made a complete plan for this Summer Camp at all; he had only drawn on the activity procedures from previous years.

This couldn’t really be blamed on him. Dr. Oak’s research itself was time-consuming, and coupled with the many research directions Ash had provided over the years, Dr. Oak was certainly busier now than in the original work.

Ash reached out, picked up the document, and began to read through it. He had been looking forward to the Summer Camp activities for a long time, for no other reason than Serena was also participating in this year’s Summer Camp.

Soon, Ash found Serena’s information.

Gary had somehow moved closer. Seeing Ash staring intently at Serena’s photo, he teased, ”Ash, you’ve been staring at this girl’s information for so long, could it be that you’re interested in her? Do you want this young master to give you some pointers?”
