Pokemon: Reborn As Ash, I'll Conquer Every League

Chapter 29: Chapter 29 Obtain the Water Drop Badge

Chapter 29 Obtain the Water Drop Badge

”Milotic, dive down to avoid it, then use Attract.”

Ash calmly gave the command.

”Woo~”

Milotic suddenly plunged into the pool, avoiding the Water Pulse, then quickly shot out of the water and landed on a floating mat, displaying her graceful figure. An unparalleled charming aura emanated from her, and Misty’s Milotic’s eyes immediately showed hearts, her will to battle continuously dropping.

Under this enchanting effect, Misty’s Milotic’s eyes were filled with adoration, completely unable to form the thought of attacking.

”Milotic, pull yourself together.”

Misty was dumbfounded. She had thought that after Feebas evolved, it would be able to last a few more rounds against Ash, but she never expected...

”Milotic, use Dragon Breath,” Ash commanded.

Looking at the impending attack, Misty shouted hoarsely, ”Milotic, quickly pull yourself together and use Haze!”

At the critical moment, Misty’s Milotic seemed to hear Misty’s cry and successfully released Haze.

”Not bad, Misty. But this alone won’t be enough to defeat her!” Ash exclaimed.

Misty had only caught Milotic a few days ago, so her ability to rouse Milotic was somewhat beyond Ash’s expectations.

”Milotic, straight ahead, full power Ice Beam.”

With Aura, Haze couldn’t affect Ash at all.

”Woo~”

Milotic responded with a low cry upon hearing the command, gathering Ice-type energy to launch a new round of attacks.

”Milotic, don’t lose to her, we’ll use Ice Beam too,” Misty commanded, unwilling to show weakness.

In the ensuing battle, Misty would counter directly whenever she could use the same move as Ash. If she couldn’t, she would never act recklessly. Relying on her Milotic’s higher level than Ash’s, she engaged in a war of attrition.

Ash tried several times to use Milotic’s ability to cast Attract, but Misty cunningly used Haze to dispel the effect of Attract.

After nearly ten minutes of this back-and-forth battle, both used Dragon Breath, resulting in a mutual knockout.

Thus, Ash, relying on the advantage accumulated by Pidgeotto, won this match.

After recalling Milotic, Misty sighed, ”Alas, I still couldn’t win against Ash.”

”Well, Ash understands Milotic even better than I do.”

Despite her sigh, Misty was quite open-minded.

”Misty, now that I’m giving the gym badge to Ash, you won’t object, right?” Sakura once again took out the gym badge.

”Sister Sakura, I never objected to giving the gym badge to Ash. I just said it shouldn’t be given easily. Don’t twist the facts!” Misty quickly interjected, not forgetting to observe Ash’s expression as she spoke.

Only when she saw that Ash didn’t mind did she let out a long sigh of relief.

At the same time, she glared angrily at Sakura, as if asking what she was up to. When had she ever said she objected?

”Oh my!”

The Cerulean Gym sisters saw Misty’s reaction and immediately laughed meaningfully.

Ash, having received the gym badge, carefully placed it in its designated storage box.

”Misty, there’s something we need to discuss,” Iris said gently, taking Misty’s hand.

This unusual attitude made Misty feel very uneasy. She glanced at Sakura and Daisy’s expressions and instantly understood: they were eyeing her Milotic.

So, she immediately shattered her sisters’ fantasy: ”Sister Iris, we can discuss anything else, but if you’re eyeing my Milotic, absolutely not! That child is my main Pokemon, and I still want to travel with her. I absolutely cannot hand her over to you and waste her potential!”

”Are we those kinds of people? We’re not asking Milotic to stay at the Gym permanently. You can contact us anytime you need her. Anyway, you’re going to travel with Ash next. Ash is so strong, you might not even need Milotic in battles if you bring her along. It would be a shame to keep her cooped up in a Poke Ball!”

The three sisters indeed did not plan to keep Milotic at the Gym for long after gaining the right to use her. They had already planned to take Milotic on a touring performance.

Taking her out to perform, not at the Gym, naturally wouldn’t be breaking their word, right?

”No, absolutely not!”

Misty shook her head repeatedly. If Milotic had been caught by herself, she might not have been unable to agree to her sisters’ request. But Milotic was caught at Ash’s suggestion, and the Prism Scale used for evolution was also provided by Ash. Furthermore, she was going to travel with Ash. This Pokemon, which represented the deep friendship between Ash and her, she would absolutely not let go of.

”Three beautiful sisters, if you need Milotic for a resident performance, I might be able to help you,” Ash said, stepping forward to help Misty out of the predicament.

Misty seemed to realize something. ”Ash, you wouldn’t be thinking of...?”

”The Milotic I just used can be rented to the Cerulean Gym for water ballet performances.”

Ash’s action wasn’t a sudden whim. Milotic was just being kept as a pet at Professor Oak’s laboratory, which was a waste of resources. Why not use her to make money?

He was just renting her out, not releasing her or letting her roam free. Letting her perform would allow her to learn many related skills. When he reached the Hoenn and Sinnoh regions, he could recall this Milotic and have her teach performing skills to other Pokemon who wanted to perform. How convenient!

Furthermore, when this Milotic was still a Feebas, her personality was reserved. After evolving, her appearance changed drastically, which also caused a huge change in her personality, making her extremely vain. Letting her perform would also suit her perfectly.

Finally, after some back-and-forth, Ash invested Milotic into the Cerulean Gym sisters’ water ballet performance, with profits split fifty-fifty. Ash would provide Milotic and necessary promotional packaging techniques, and the three sisters would be responsible for the performances.

Roughly speaking, it meant the Cerulean Gym sisters would be working for Ash.

Of course, the Milotic provided by Ash could not be used for Gym challenges. Ash, in his capacity as a Professor, would have the Kanto region Pokémon League supervise this point.
