Reincarnated as a Mosquito, I Sucked the Reborn Empress to Tears

Chapter 266: Chapter 266: Bizarre Spirit Awakening Pill, First Appearance of the Alien Race

The Governor’s Mansion in Du Nan City.

Inside the main office, Governor Qi Chongshan was staring at a document in his hands with a worried expression.

Suddenly, a faint spatial fluctuation appeared.

Qi Chongshan immediately grew vigilant, his voice sharp as he demanded:

“Who’s there?”

“BUZZ.”

“It’s us.”

The voices of Gu Yuexi and Chu Sheng sounded at the same time.

When Qi Chongshan saw Gu Yuexi, his expression froze for a moment before a hint of delight appeared!

Qi Chongshan had initially been a bit exasperated about Gu Yuexi exposing her identity on Hong Kong Island. After all, he had bent the rules to get her a pass to go there. Fortunately, she later performed a great service, so the higher-ups didn’t say anything.

But upon seeing Chu Sheng, his face showed clear astonishment!

Chu Sheng’s form was slightly larger than before, and he looked even more domineering, almost as if he wasn’t a creature of this world!

“Gu Yuexi, so it’s you!”

“Haha, I’ve heard all about your deeds on Hong Kong Island. You’ve rendered a great service to our Great Xia!”

“Come, have a seat!”

Qi Chongshan’s tone was gentle, tinged with a hint of pride.

After all, Gu Yuexi was from his Sui Ming Province. With her achieving such a great merit, it brought him honor as well.

Gu Yuexi didn’t sit down. Instead, she got straight to the point:

“Governor Qi, Jing University has already started its semester. I came back to pick up my acceptance letter.”

“But what on earth is happening in Du Nan City? Why are even the schools sealed off?”

The smile on Qi Chongshan’s face faltered slightly. He turned, retrieved an acceptance letter inlaid with gold trim and emitting a faint spiritual glow from the safe behind him, and handed it to Gu Yuexi.

“This is your acceptance letter. I’ve already communicated with Jing University about your situation. They’ve given you special permission to report late.”

“But it’s best not to delay for too long. You should leave right now.”

His tone was gratified, but the worry on his brow was unshakable, and in fact, it deepened slightly:

“As for the matter concerning Du Nan City… and even the entire Sui Ming Province, you don’t need to ask. This… is not a place to linger right now.”

Gu Yuexi accepted the letter and stored it directly in her Storage Ring without even looking at it.

Her gaze was like a torch as she stared at Qi Chongshan and pressed,

“Governor Qi, what exactly happened?”

’What could render a Governor so helpless?’

’Something that even concerns the safety of the entire province?’

To be honest, Qi Chongshan had always treated Gu Yuexi very well, and this was the first time she had ever seen such deep worry on his face.

It was even more serious than the insect swarm disaster last time.

Moreover, this strange incident in Du Nan City reminded her of certain events from her past life.

Therefore, she had to get a clear answer.

Seeing Gu Yuexi’s determined expression, Qi Chongshan sighed and said,

“Very well, then. Follow me.”

…

Deep beneath the Governor’s Mansion, a heavy alloy door slowly opened, releasing a blinding white light and suppressed roars.

Before them was a massive quarantine zone, with dozens of specially made transparent isolation pods arranged in neat rows.

A young person was confined within each pod.

Their eyes were scarlet, their faces twisted, and they frantically slammed against the walls of the pods, letting out inhuman roars.

“BUZZ! (’Holy crap!’)”

Chu Sheng flew closer to one of the pods.

“BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ?! (’Isn’t that kid Xiao Ran?!’)”

Behind them, Qi Chongshan’s weary voice sounded,

“As you can see… For the past month, talented young people throughout the province have been losing control one after another. It’s as if their Spiritual Origins have been contaminated, making them extremely aggressive and unable to recognize their own families.”

“This is the first batch of prodigies to undergo this change. We’ve tried everything, but we can’t find the cause, let alone a cure… We can only quarantine them like this.”

“Recently, more and more people have been changing within Du Nan City, and the situation has even started appearing in the surrounding cities.”

“Gu Yuexi, you are the most outstanding genius in our Sui Ming Province. We can’t let anything happen to you. So, you should leave quickly.”

Gu Yuexi didn’t respond, instead continuing to press,

“Is there not a single clue about this matter?”

Qi Chongshan shook his head, then added,

“The only clue is… over a month ago, a business called the Liu Clan Chamber of Commerce sold a peculiar elixir called the ’Spirit Awakening Pill.’ This elixir could rapidly increase a Cultivator’s Mental Power growth Speed. It was all the rage in Du Nan City for a while, and a single pill was hard to come by.”

“But soon after, the Liu Clan Chamber of Commerce completely vanished. And all the people who had taken the Spirit Awakening Pill suffered a spiritual mutation! Furthermore, our investigation suggests that the backer of the Liu Clan Chamber of Commerce was likely the Chen Family, which was thought to have been wiped out.”

’Liu Clan Chamber of Commerce? The Chen Family?’

Hearing this, Gu Yuexi’s eyes turned ice-cold in an instant.

’Which Chen Family? The very same one that hired assassins to kill her!’

The Liu Ming who had fought with her over the Spiritual Crystal back then was actually a descendant of the Chen Family, his real name being Chen Ming.

’Then there’s no doubt that this Liu Clan Chamber of Commerce is the Chen Family’s scheme.’

’In that case…’

’She had to get involved in this matter. It would save her the trouble of hunting down the Chen Family herself.’

’The Mu Family is already gone. The Chen Family must die as well.’

“Governor Qi, are there any of those so-called Spirit Awakening Pills left?”

Qi Chongshan nodded and took out a porcelain vial.

“This is a Spirit Awakening Pill. I investigated this elixir back then but found nothing wrong with it, which is why I didn’t stop Chen’s Trading Company from selling them.”

As he spoke, Qi Chongshan poured the elixir out of the vial.

The elixir was pure white and showed no abnormalities. It even emanated an extremely pure Spiritual Power.

Gu Yuexi scanned it with her Mental Power but also found nothing unusual. The Energy it contained was very high-level, and it truly seemed to be an elixir of extremely high quality.

But for some reason, she felt a sense of aversion to this Energy.

Just then, Chu Sheng’s figure flashed by and snatched the elixir.

“BUZZ. (’Let this mosquito give it a try.’)”

With that, he directly poked the elixir with his God-devouring Needle.

“Don’t!”

Qi Chongshan exclaimed in alarm.

“I previously had a Ninth-Grade Alchemist examine it! That Alchemy Master merely scraped off a little powder to study, but he ended up suffering the same spiritual mutation afterward!”

’Even a Ninth-Grade Alchemist was mutated?’

Gu Yuexi’s heart skipped a beat, and she looked at Chu Sheng with a hint of worry.

However, it was too late. The elixir was so small that Chu Sheng drained all of its Energy in a single suck.

[Ding! High-Purity Spiritual Energy detected. Absorbing…]

[Mental Power +1000]

’Holy crap, not bad! A single elixir actually gave me a thousand points of Mental Power!’

’Is this Spirit Awakening Pill really that awesome?’

Of course, part of it was due to his upgraded proboscis. With his old Soul-devouring Demon Spike, he probably would have only absorbed 300 points at most.

Just as Chu Sheng thought he had finished absorbing the elixir and that there was nothing unusual about it,

the system’s voice sounded once again:

[Ding! Alien Race Energy detected. Absorbing…]

[Ding! Spiritual Contamination detected within the Alien Race Energy. Divine Path Purifying Flame automatically activating. Purging…]

[Purge complete. The will of the Spiritual Contamination has been erased.]

[Alien Race Energy absorption complete… Mental Power +1000, Evolution Points +1000]

A flash of scarlet flickered in Chu Sheng’s eyes before vanishing instantly.

Gu Yuexi watched him nervously and asked,

“You stupid mosquito, are you okay?”

Chu Sheng casually tossed aside the elixir, now completely devoid of potency, and buzzed.

“BUZZ BUZZ.”

Gu Yuexi’s eyes lit up.

“You’re saying you know where the source of this is from?”

Hearing this, Governor Qi also felt a jolt of excitement!

’The insect swarm incident was solved thanks to this mosquito. Could he possibly create another miracle this time?’

Chu Sheng landed on the ground and, moving his mosquito legs, traced two words on the floor:

“Alien… Race”
