Reincarnated as a Mosquito, I Sucked the Reborn Empress to Tears

Chapter 201: Chapter 201: Beast Taming Academy in Dire Straits, To Be Kicked Out of Hong Kong University?

Hong Kong Island University possesses an exclusive Secret Realm not open to the public—the Shadowland.

Across the entire Great Xia Federation, no more than thirty universities have their own exclusive Secret Realms. Among those, only ten currently possess Secret Realms of Intermediate level or higher.

Hong Kong University is one of them.

The Shadowland is an Intermediate Secret Realm with an incredibly vast space. For years, Hong Kong University has been developing this realm, making it a key source of teaching resources. The Secret Realm itself is also perfectly suited for student combat trials and training.

This year’s academy grand tournament will be held in the Shadowland.

In previous tournaments, the rules were relatively simple: the teams from each academy would compete to see who could hunt the most Demon Beasts.

This time, however, the rules have changed. The new format is called—Battle Royale.

Academies will no longer simply compete based on the number of beasts hunted. Instead, they must “hunt” each other and seize the Inner Cores from the Demon Beasts their opponents have killed!

This change in the tournament rules clearly encourages, even forces, direct confrontation between the academies! This shift in the rules has increased the tournament’s difficulty by several-fold, at least.

This will lead to one outcome:

The final score gap between academies will be enormous. Some academies might even end up with a score of zero!

And that is the cruel reality of the new tournament rules!

In past years, even when the Beast Taming Academy came in last, they were never too far behind the second-to-last team, allowing them to save a bit of face.

But this year, with the stark difference in raw strength, the Beast Taming Academy will likely end up with nothing at all!

Now, the Beast Taming Academy has truly been pushed to the brink.

…

「Simulation Ecological Zone.」

After briefly explaining the rules of the academy grand tournament, Shepherd Mountain sighed and said earnestly,

“Lord Divine Lang, I know I shouldn’t be disturbing your Cultivation, but I’ve been left with no other choice.”

“The Beast Taming Academy has finished last for years. It’s humiliating, but that’s nothing. This old face of mine has already lost all dignity.”

“But this year is different. To be honest, in yesterday’s meeting, the deans of the other academies joined forces and passed a resolution. If the Beast Taming Academy comes in last again, we will be forced to give up our current campus and be demoted to an external branch!”

“Once demoted, the Beast Taming Academy will no longer be one of Hong Kong University’s seven great academies; it will become a mere affiliated college. As the dean of the Beast Taming Academy, I can’t—I can’t bear to let the academy be ruined in my hands!”

“So please, Lord Divine Lang, I’m begging you. Help the Beast Taming Academy just this once!”

“The Beast Taming Academy’s last hope… rests entirely on you.”

By the end of his speech, Shepherd Mountain’s voice was laced with bitterness, and tears were welling in his eyes.

Chu Sheng glanced at Shepherd Mountain… ’Seriously? An old man like him, what’s he crying for?’

’The Beast Taming Academy is going to be demoted and kicked off the main campus?’

’Doesn’t that mean the Simulation Ecological Zone will be gone too? They’re trying to destroy my blood-bag paradise!’

’Hmmm, looks like I really will have to step in for this tournament thing after all.’

’Wait a second…’

’A tournament of this scale must have a lot of rewards, right? As long as the rewards are good enough, even if Shepherd Mountain hadn’t asked, I would’ve had to find a way to sneak in and participate!’

’This old geezer has been talking for ages and hasn’t even gotten to the important part!’

Chu Sheng looked at Shepherd Mountain and rubbed his cockroach-like hands together.

“HISS HISS (Get it?)”

Shepherd Mountain froze. He didn’t understand what Chu Sheng was saying. It was only after seeing Chu Sheng’s gesture that he finally understood.

“You mean…”

“Oh, oh! For this year’s academy tournament, each academy will contribute twenty top-tier items as prizes to a common prize pool.

With seven academies, that’s a total of 140 prizes.”

“And all 140 of those prizes will go to the first-place academy! The other six academies get nothing!”

“In other words, each of the 20 contestants from the first-place academy will receive 7 prizes.”

After a short pause, Shepherd Mountain continued,

“Lord Divine Lang, if you can lead our Beast Taming Academy to first place, you will absolutely have the first pick of all the prizes!”

“Even if we don’t get first place, as long as we don’t come in last, I will still personally pay out of my own pocket to give you a reward with a value no less than that of King-level Demon Beast Essence Blood!”

At this point, Shepherd Mountain was going all in!

’140 top-tier rewards?’

’And I get to pick first… 7 of them? The best of the best?!’

’Holy crap, why didn’t you just say so earlier? What was the point of crying? If you’d said the rewards were this good from the start, this mosquito would have agreed long ago!’

’An opportunity to fleece some suckers like this? I absolutely have to participate!’

Chu Sheng was ecstatic on the inside, but on the outside, he maintained his cool, posturing act.

He slowly scratched four letters into the ground, then floated away gracefully.

“O… J… B… K…”

…

…

…

Chu Sheng agreed to participate in the academy grand tournament, which was scheduled to take place in just two days.

In those two days, he decided to break through to the Fourth-Grade Middle Stage in his Qi Blood Realm and the Fourth-Grade Early Stage in his Spiritual Realm.

He was only one step away from each.

「Two days later.」

As expected, Chu Sheng had increased his Qi Blood by 8,321 and his Mental Power by 1,890.

[Current Qi Blood Value: 38,300 (Fourth-Grade Middle Stage)]

[Current Mental Power: 11,300 (Fourth-Grade Early Stage)]

[Notice: Reaching 60,000 Qi Blood Value is required to advance to the Fourth-Grade Late Stage. Reaching 30,000 Mental Power is required to advance to the Fourth-Grade Middle Stage.]

Easy peasy. Just a bit of daily blood-sucking and a couple of nightly strolls through the girls’ dormitory would do the trick.

Next, Chu Sheng turned his attention to his Evolution Points.

[Current Evolution Points: 11,192]

The next full evolution required 10,000 Evolution Points, which would leave him with 1,192 points to spend.

Chu Sheng planned to use these Evolution Points to upgrade some of his Skills.

’Which Skill should I upgrade?’

’System, open the Skill list! Sort them by whether they have a Level or not!’

[Ding! The current Leveled Superpowers are as follows:]

Nether Flame Insect Nest Lv9, Nether Vision Lv7, Soul-devouring Demon Spike Lv6, Soul-Bursting Flame Feather Lv5, Spirit Returning and Spirit-Extinguishing Technique Lv4, Nether Flame Battle Armor Lv2, Monarch’s Suppression Lv2, Ten Thousand Insects Substitute Lv1.

[The current No-Level Superpowers are as follows:]

Primitive Form, True Name Space, Amaterasu’s Eye, Boundless Wings, Celestial Thunder Illusion, Nine Tribulations Thunder Prison.

’So many Leveled Superpowers, but only a little over a thousand Evolution Points. How am I supposed to upgrade them?’

’I haven’t upgraded my Skills in so long! Many of them are too low-level and haven’t kept up with my realm advancements. For example, the Nether Flame Battle Armor’s physical resistance is starting to feel inadequate; only its ability to absorb flame Attacks is still halfway decent.’

Upgrading a Skill doesn’t change its mechanics, but it does increase its stats! And right now, what Chu Sheng needed to do was increase the stats of these Skills.

First, he had to determine the point cost for upgrading each Skill.

Chu Sheng remembered that self-comprehended Skills, like his Spirit Returning and Spirit-Extinguishing Technique, required a lot of Evolution Points to upgrade. However, his other Skills didn’t cost much to upgrade at Low Levels.

[Notice: The Evolution Point cost to upgrade differs for each Skill. Please check each one individually, Host.]
