Reincarnated as a Mosquito, I Sucked the Reborn Empress to Tears

Chapter 228: Chapter 228: Insect Beast Fusion, Research Maniac Chu Sheng Is At It Again

“First of all.”

“Let’s not even talk about the Three Kingdoms Grand Competition yet. This academy competition isn’t over.”

“I’m fine with skipping the award ceremony, but I led the Beast Taming Academy to first place. There have to be prizes, right?”

Chu Sheng used all six of his legs, typing at a furious pace!

At this, everyone turned to look at Chen Shouzheng, the president of Hong Kong University.

Seeing how highly the City Lord regarded Chu Sheng, Chen Shouzheng didn’t dare to be neglectful. Fortunately, he was already prepared and hurriedly said:

“Of course, of course.”

“I prepared the prizes long ago. There are 140 items in total. Each contestant from your Beast Taming Academy will receive seven of them.”

“I have already taken the liberty of selecting the seven Top-Notch prizes for Lord Divine Mosquito. I’ll have someone bring them in now.”

As soon as he finished speaking, several students walked in carrying the seven prizes. The one at the front was, surprisingly, Su Li.

When Su Li saw that Chu Sheng was unharmed, she breathed an inward sigh of relief and secretly gave him a wink.

She hadn’t done that in years…

But Chu Sheng didn’t even glance at her. His eyes were fixed on the seven prizes. Quite satisfied, he stored them away without a closer look.

Gu Yuexi had already told him about the Ancient Sunken Star Vein back in the Secret Realm.

The Ancient Sunken Star Vein was the final major objective of her trip to Hong Kong Island. There was something inside that was very important to her in her past life, and she needed to retrieve it.

’She had originally been wondering how to use a fake identity to snag a spot. Now, even though her fake identity is gone, the City Lord himself has come to invite us. What more is there to say? Of course, it’s time to…’

’Extort a hefty sum first!’

’No, that’s not right. It’s not extortion! It’s reasonably requesting some strategic supplies to prepare for the Three Kingdoms Grand Competition!’

Chu Sheng chuckled inwardly, rubbed his little legs together, and began typing furiously again:

“Lord City Lord, I hear that the participants are all the chosen geniuses of their nations, and even the White Eagle Empire is involved. That means this matter is indeed quite tricky.”

“My Master and I want to win, but our current realms are too low—only around the Fourth-Grade.”

“So…”

The City Lord looked at the words on the large screen, smiled, and said:

“But of course.”

“Since that’s the case, how about this.”

“You and Miss Gu may come to my City Lord’s Mansion once before the Three Kingdoms Grand Competition. I will allow each of you to select one item from the City Lord’s treasury. How does that sound?”

’The City Lord’s treasury?’

’My heart leaped with joy. Last time, I’d had a fantastic time absorbing everything in the Sui Ming provincial treasury. This time… Hong Kong Island’s treasury must be even bigger, with even more Heavenly and Earthly Treasures, right?’

’Looks like I’m in for another treat!’

He chuckled to himself and once again typed a few words on the tablet:

“Pick any one item, no upper limit?”

The City Lord nodded.

“No upper limit. As long as it’s in the City Lord’s Mansion treasury, you can take any single item.”

After the City Lord finished speaking, it wasn’t Chu Sheng who was shocked this time.

Instead, it was Chen Shouzheng and the nine Patriarchs present who were stunned!

’That’s the treasury of the City Lord’s Mansion! With treasures accumulated over so many years, what wouldn’t someone of the City Lord’s status possess? There might even be Celestial Extreme Magical Artifacts or Elixirs!’

’To be able to pick any one item… isn’t that hitting the jackpot?’

At that moment, even these Patriarchs of the Nine Great Families had a hint of envy in their eyes.

Seeing the City Lord being so straightforward, Chu Sheng was equally direct, typing out two words:

“Okay… deal!”

…

And just like that, Chu Sheng agreed to participate in the Three Kingdoms Grand Competition with Gu Yuexi in ten days.

As for the next ten days, he would naturally focus on continuing his cultivation and increasing his strength.

’Gu Yuexi has run off to who-knows-where to digest that Qi Blood Crystal, so I’ll leave her be for now. We should both go into seclusion for a few days!’

So, where would Chu Sheng choose for his seclusion?

The small underground chambers in the Simulation Ecological Zone, of course!

Although Gu Yuexi nearly had a falling out with Hong Kong Island University, Chu Sheng’s relationship with the Beast Taming Academy was still excellent.

Now that the Beast Taming Academy had taken first place,

For the entire next year, not only would the Beast Taming Academy avoid being demoted or having its campus area reduced, but it would also leap to become the most resource-rich academy at Hong Kong Island University.

All the Spirit Grass, Elixirs, and other resources would have to be offered to the Beast Taming Academy for first pick before the other academies got their turn.

’This feeling is just awesome!’

Within the Beast Taming Academy, Chu Sheng still had his own exclusive area. Furthermore, Dean Shepherd Mountain had established a special rule for this zone!

Whether he was the Divine Locust or the Divine Mosquito, as long as the Beast Taming Academy existed, that area would be reserved for Chu Sheng!

It had to be said, that was a pretty slick move on Shepherd Mountain’s part.

「In the exclusive area, inside a small underground chamber.」

Chu Sheng didn’t rush to inspect the seven prizes he had just received. Instead, he first opened the system’s Insect Nest evolution page.

Adding the Life Essence recovered from the twenty Sixth-Grade Demon Beasts and the one Seventh-Grade Demon Beast in the Shadowland…

The current Life Essence in Chu Sheng’s Nether Flame Insect Nest reached 159,450!

After spending some to heal and repair a few of the Insect Beasts guarding the mountain, Chu Sheng’s current Life Essence became…

[Current Life Essence: 159,000]

’Whoa, I’ve already got almost 160,000 without even realizing it!’

’Doesn’t that mean I can go for another wave of evolution?’

Chu Sheng asked the system directly:

“System, how much Life Essence is needed to upgrade one Fourth-Grade Early Stage Spirit-Devouring Insect Beast to the Fourth-Grade Middle Stage?”

[40 points]

’40 points… For 32,000 of them, that adds up to 128,000!’

’That’s enough! I can upgrade them again.’

’Then let’s do it!’

Ever since the battle against the beast tide in the Shadowland, Chu Sheng had come to appreciate the power of his insect army more and more. Without the Beast Insect Legion, he never would have been able to handle that beast tide!

[Ding! 128,000 Life Essence has been consumed. 32,000 Spirit-Devouring Insect Beasts have been upgraded to the Fourth-Grade Middle Stage!]

Woohoo!

’Fourth-Grade Middle Stage! My own Qi Blood Realm is only at the Fourth-Grade Middle Stage.’

’What does an army of thirty-two thousand Fourth-Grade Middle Stage Insect Beasts even mean! Although their individual combat power is relatively weak, there’s no arguing with sheer numbers!’

’If Gu Yuexi were to cloak the entire insect army with a layer of her Realm… damn, I feel like they could easily flatten a small nation that doesn’t have a King-level Powerhouse.’

’Life Essence, you truly are a wonderful thing.’

[Current Remaining Life Essence: 31,000]

With only 31,000 left, it’s definitely not enough for another evolution.

Besides, the realm of the Insect Beasts in the Nether Flame Insect Nest can’t surpass my own.

Otherwise, he would have long since tried to pour all his Life Essence into a single Insect Beast to see if he could raise a King-level, Emperor Level, or even an Emperor Level one.

’Wait a minute. Although the Insect Beasts’ realm can’t exceed my own, I can modify their forms.’

’For example, the simplest way would be to enhance a specific ability of the Insect Beasts, turning the 32,000 of them into legions with different specializations.’

’For example: a Super-Explosion Legion, a Super-Tank Legion, a Super-Scout Legion, and so on.’

’Or, maybe some special Combined Techniques, like… Insect Beast fusion!’

’Insect Beast fusion… could that work?’

’Just imagine it: tens of thousands of Insect Beasts precisely combining together to form a single super-giant beast?!’

’That would be insane!’

The more Chu Sheng thought about it, the more excited he became. However, he only had 31,000 Life Essence left.

’So… I’ll start by experimenting with 2,000 of them!’
