Reincarnated as a Mosquito, I Sucked the Reborn Empress to Tears

Chapter 209: Chapter 209: Soloing the Empress? Still One-shotted.

Hong Kong Island University, the grand sports field.

On the main stage, a massive screen was split into numerous smaller panes, each live-streaming scenes from the various Secret Realms.

In the top-left corner, the real-time points for each academy were displayed.

Array Academy: 15 Points.

Warlock Academy: 19 Points.

Fengshui Academy: 10 Points.

Mind Master Academy: 27 Points.

Elixir Academy: 12 Points.

Beast Taming Academy: 12 Points.

Of course, these real-time points were only calculated based on footage captured by the cameras.

Therefore, the tally wasn’t entirely accurate and served only as a temporary reference. The final scores would be determined by the actual number of Inner Cores in the Storage Rings at the end of the competition.

“First place… is actually the Mind Master Academy!”

“What’s so strange about that? The Mind Master Academy has always been powerful in terms of combat strength, especially in one-on-one fights!”

“Wait, last place isn’t the Beast Taming Academy? It’s the Fengshui Academy?”

“Heh, those numbers are just for reference; they aren’t accurate. The live feed has barely shown any of the Fengshui Academy’s contestants. That bunch has always been mysterious.”

“Hmph, our Array Academy hasn’t even gotten serious yet. We haven’t even started setting up Arrays. Certain other academies shouldn’t get too smug.”

On the field, tens of thousands of students were buzzing with discussion, their excitement palpable.

Just then!

On the massive screen, the view from one of the smaller panes suddenly enlarged to fill the entire display.

It was the scene of Wang Haichen provoking Gu Yuexi and challenging her to a solo fight.

“Holy crap! Gu Yuexi and Wang Haichen ran into each other, and they’re going to solo?”

“Now this is interesting! One is the famous Future Empress, and the other is the captain of the defending champions’ academy!”

“Gu Yuexi is in a tough spot. Even though her combat power is astonishing, she’s only at the Fourth-Grade Early Stage. Fighting a Fifth-Grade Middle Stage opponent is probably her limit. Against someone at the Peak of Fifth-Grade, she’s guaranteed to lose!”

“Then she can just refuse.”

“If she refuses, it’ll look bad. They’re both captains, and Gu Yuexi has the title of ’Future Empress’ to uphold.”

“This is an open conspiracy from Wang Haichen!”

…

「Shadowland.」

Wang Haichen watched Gu Yuexi with a playful glint in his eyes. ’Let’s see what this ’Future Empress’ is going to do,’ he thought.

Faced with Wang Haichen’s provocation, the members of the Elixir Academy were furious:

“Wang Haichen, have you no shame? A Peak of Fifth-Grade challenging a Fourth-Grade Early Stage to a solo fight? You…”

Before the person could finish, Gu Yuexi raised a hand, cutting her off. She said flatly,

“Say no more.”

“A one-on-one with me? Is he even worthy?”

“Kill this Earth-Splitting Giant Bear and take its Inner Core. If these people still refuse to leave, then make sure they stay here permanently.”

Gu Yuexi’s tone was calm, and she didn’t even bother to glance at Wang Haichen throughout the exchange.

…

Back on the sports field, many people saw this scene unfold:

“Heh, looks like Gu Yuexi chickened out after all.”

“There’s no shame in refusing, since Wang Haichen was definitely being unreasonable. But to say he isn’t worthy? That’s just being stubborn.”

“Yeah, it’s normal that Gu Yuexi can’t beat him at her current Realm. Trying to save face like this just makes her look even more pathetic.”

Meanwhile, inside the Secret Realm.

Wang Haichen laughed. He took a step forward, blocking the few people who were about to attack the Earth-Splitting Giant Bear, and continued to provoke Gu Yuexi,

“So this is all the Future Empress amounts to. You don’t even dare to fight one-on-one. How about this? We can change the stakes…”

He hadn’t even finished speaking when a flash of light, blended with multiple types of Realms, shot through his body! An earthy-yellow halo suddenly erupted from him.

It was… the Guardian Aura of his Combat Suit had been triggered! And that meant Wang Haichen had been eliminated!

Wang Haichen was stunned. Behind him, the body of the Earth-Splitting Giant Bear split in two and collapsed with a deafening crash. If not for the Guardian Aura, he likely would have suffered the same fate.

“I told you. You’re not worthy.”

Gu Yuexi slowly walked up to Wang Haichen and took the Storage Ring from his hand. According to the rules, he couldn’t move or speak and could only wait where he stood to be escorted away.

Soon, the members of the Elixir Academy had retrieved the giant bear’s Inner Core. No one gave Wang Haichen a second glance. As for the other two members of the Array Academy, they had long since scrambled away in terror.

…

Back at Hong Kong Island University’s grand sports field, there was dead silence.

An insta-kill? He was insta-killed?

The Peak of Fifth-Grade, the captain of the Array Academy team, was insta-killed just like that? Many people didn’t even see how Gu Yuexi attacked.

The few people who had just been calling Gu Yuexi stubborn now stood with their mouths agape, their minds completely blank.

A few seconds later, a thunderous cheer erupted from the Elixir Academy’s section.

In contrast, the Array Academy’s section remained deathly silent, the atmosphere utterly grim.

The academy competition had barely started, and their team captain was already eliminated? At that moment, an oppressive feeling weighed down on all of them!

Fortunately, the Array Academy’s strength didn’t rely on a single individual; every member was powerful. All twenty people on the team were at the Fifth-Grade Middle Stage or higher, and they could cooperate to set up Arrays.

Even without Wang Haichen, there was still hope.

As time went on, the competition for points grew increasingly intense.

To earn more points, everyone began to venture deeper into the inner perimeter, as the chances of encountering High-Tier Demon Beasts were greater there.

The points from a Fourth-Grade Demon Beast Core were too low. The points for killing a single Peak of Fifth-Grade Demon Beast were equivalent to killing six Fourth-Grade Early Stage Demon Beasts.

After gathering most of her Elixir Academy teammates, Gu Yuexi also began to officially push into the inner perimeter. Soon, the Elixir Academy team became the most dominant force.

They had strength in numbers, and Gu Yuexi’s personal combat power was Top Notch!

The Elixir Academy team’s points rose rapidly, and they soon shot into first place with 80 points!

However, the other academies also began to make their move.

The Mind Master Academy adopted a strategy of completely splitting up their forces, which allowed them to kill the highest number of Demon Beasts. Their captain, He Chuan, a Sixth-Grade Early Stage powerhouse, had charged directly into the core region and slayed two Sixth-Grade Early Stage Demon Beasts!

Currently, the Mind Master Academy was in second place with 78 points, but He Chuan’s individual points ranked first, even higher than Gu Yuexi’s.

The Array Academy also began to execute its strategy. They formed groups of three or four and also pushed into the core region. At the same time, they used their advantage in setting up multi-person Arrays to lay ambushes and snatch Inner Cores from other academies! Despite being without Wang Haichen, their current score was still 70 points, temporarily placing them in third.

The Fengshui Academy was even more impressive. They actually found the lair of a Demon Beast horde and were racking up points by slaughtering them at the entrance.

While all the other academies’ points were rising quickly, one academy was being left behind.

The Beast Taming Academy.

The reason was simple: the Beast Taming Academy’s overall strength was far too weak!

On their entire team, only two members were at the Fifth-Grade Late Stage. They didn’t even have a single person at the Peak of Fifth-Grade. The rest were merely at the Fifth-Grade Middle Stage or Early Stage…

This was the inevitable result of the academy’s lack of resources. Finishing last every year led them to become worse and worse, a vicious cycle!

Although all the contestants from the Beast Taming Academy were trying their best to kill Demon Beasts, they could only manage to take down those below the Fifth-Grade Middle Stage.

At this point, the Beast Taming Academy had fallen more than 20 points behind the second-to-last-place team!
