Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 550: 550 Female Protagonist’s Calamity

As a man, you should support your family. Letting your sweet little wife be in such a difficult situation is a man’s failure.

Qian Jun cleared his throat, ”Director Huang, someone suggested that you have severely affected the reputation of our textile factory, so they want you to resign voluntarily.

You also know that even if you don’t resign, you can’t stay in the textile factory, because you still have to take a few days off each month.”

Huang Hongwei didn’t know whether to feel relieved or something else when he heard the news.

At this moment, he was no longer nervous. ”Mr. Qian, I have such a suspicion, there’s still that faint hope inside.

You know, we have three children to raise, and if neither of us has a job, the children’s lives will be a problem.”

Qian Jun nodded, ”I understand this situation, but understanding is not enough. You are an old employee of the textile factory, and you have made many contributions to the factory.

But besides you, there are more than a thousand other workers. I also have to consider the opinions of the majority.”

Huang Hongwei understood what Qian Jun meant. There was no room for negotiation.

He gave a wry smile. ”Sigh, it’s all my fault, reaching this point is also my issue.

Mr. Qian, I have one last request.”

Qian Jun raised an eyebrow, ”Go ahead.”

”Both of us have been fired, we can’t have our household registration in the textile factory, right? Since we can’t, can Mr. Qian step in and have our family registration moved to the street office?

Otherwise, we really have no way to live.”

Qian Jun nodded, ”Alright, I’ll write a certificate later, but I don’t know whether the street office will approve it.

Also, if you resign voluntarily, you’ll be given one more month’s salary. Although it doesn’t help much, it’s the factory’s token of appreciation for old employees.”

”Thank you, Mr. Qian.”

Qian Jun took out paper and pen to write the recommendation letter. He really wasn’t sure if the street office would accept it, but he had done everything he could.

After writing it, he called Jiang Xinyu, asking her to issue a slip to Huang Hongwei because if he wanted to get money from the finance department, it had to be signed by Jiang Xinyu.

Huang Hongwei took the certificate with a complex expression and thanked Qian Jun before leaving his office.

He stood outside, looking around. This was the textile factory where he had worked for more than thirty years, and now he was being dismissed.

He gave another wry smile and then headed to Jiang Xinyu’s office.

When Huang Hongwei came in, Jiang Xinyu handed him a slip, ”This is what Mr. Qian arranged, an extra month’s salary, just go to the finance department and find Mr. Wang.”

”Vice Factory Director Jiang, I want to ask if it was Huang Yi who submitted the letter of complaint?”

Jiang Xinyu looked at Huang Hongwei, ”Why are you asking me?”

”I just think Vice Factory Director Jiang should know.”

”Huang Hongwei, although I’m not a man, I act with integrity. Lying and harming others is something I disdain.”

Huang Hongwei lowered his head. He always felt that Huang Yi was behind this incident, but even if it was truly him, what could be done?

”Vice Factory Director Jiang, no matter who it is, there’s nothing I can do.”

”Huang Hongwei, since you’ve mentioned it today, I’ll say a few words. Listen if you want, don’t listen if you don’t.

I firmly believe in karma. Being with Kong Mengjie defied human ethics. It will catch up to you sooner or later.

You betrayed your family and hurt the mother and her four children, and you’ll have to repay it in the future.”

”I have similar thoughts now. What comes around goes around.”

Huang Hongwei collected two months of salary worth ninety-one yuan from the finance department and packed all his personal belongings from his office to take home.

When Kong Mengjie saw him carrying so many things back, she knew that from now on, they both didn’t have official jobs.

”Mengjie, bring the household registration book over. I’m going to the street office.”

Kong Mengjie felt heartache for her man, ”I’ll go instead, you rest at home.”

Huang Hongwei shook his head, ”No need, I’ll go. You keep an eye on the kids.

And here’s the two months’ salary, because I resigned voluntarily, they gave one more month’s pay.”

Kong Mengjie accepted it, and it could support them for a while longer.

Huang Hongwei went out with determination. Being watched as a grown man was uncomfortable, but there was no other choice; one had to live.

He reached the street office and handed the household registration book and certificate to the staff there.

It was a young man, but before he could process it, an older sister pulled him aside, ”I’ll handle it; you go do something else.”

The older sister was fierce, scolding Huang Hongwei indirectly for five minutes without stopping and without repeating herself.

Huang Hongwei just kept his head down, enduring the reprimands as there was nothing else he could do.

This woman, although she kept talking, didn’t really make things difficult for Huang Hongwei. This was how their family of five’s household registration was moved to the street.

”Alright, come over on the second of next month to get your food tickets.

This person is really lacking in brains. The textile factory is such a good job that people are fighting tooth and nail for it, yet someone doesn’t cherish it. Truly foolish.

This carefreeness in the rest of life must be carried on the back for the rest of one’s days.”

Huang Hongwei felt shame and embarrassment, but what she said was true; he had nothing to refute, just had to endure. There was no second path.

As long as the family had food, it was fine. Otherwise, there was truly no way to live.

This was also something to be happy about, so Huang Hongwei hurriedly returned home.

Kong Mengjie, holding the new household registration certificate, burst into tears again.

Finally, there was hope; heaven had not truly abandoned their family of five.

She quickly woke up the three children at this time, but they were still shocked, closely following her. Kong Mengjie felt heartache; these children were truly frightened.

In the evening, the family sat down for dinner together, ”Eat more, everyone. Tiantian, is your school still in session?”

”Mom, we’re still in school. The teacher said, there are only twenty days left until the holidays.”

”Then go to school; you have to be capable to have a foothold.”

Huang Hongwei never meddled in the children’s schooling. He knew his wife had always envied Jiang Xinyu’s university graduation, but she never had the time or energy herself.

At night, the family of five stayed together, fearing the children might have nightmares.

Indeed, Yiyi cried twice during the night, and Jianfeng cried once.

Kong Mengjie felt particularly wronged; who was that heartless person? She felt in her heart that it was Jiang Xinyu who did this, although Huang Hongwei’s analysis suggested otherwise, but Kong Mengjie strongly felt so.

How could she have been so dazed to agree to Second Brother’s request back then? Now it’s really over, with nothing left?
