Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 528: 528 is ready to counterattack

The old lady nodded in agreement. With her slow pace, she was afraid that by the time she got there, everyone would have already left work, so she indulged herself and took the bus to the textile factory.

Jiang Xinyu was momentarily stunned when she received the call. An old lady was there to see her? She thought to herself, she didn’t know any old ladies.

Still, she decided to go out and have a look. Song Qingqing, worried about her, followed her out.

Mrs. Zhao saw two young girls come out. Not knowing which one was Jiang Xinyu, she trembled over to them and asked, ”Which one of you is Vice Factory Director Jiang?”

”Old lady, that’s me.”

”Vice Factory Director Jiang, please come with me to the hospital. My son was beaten up last night, and when he woke up, he asked me to bring you over.”

”Auntie, I don’t know you,” Jiang Xinyu said, frowning. What was going on?

”Vice Factory Director Jiang, you may not know me, but you must know my son, Zhao Zhongshuo. I found him barely conscious on the bed this morning. Luckily, a kind neighbor helped get him to the hospital. He only woke up at two in the afternoon.

He asked me to come find you, saying you were the only one who could help him.”

Song Qingqing tugged on Jiang Xinyu’s sleeve. ”Vice Factory Director Jiang, you shouldn’t go. Zhao Zhongshuo has already reported you. Who knows if he’s up to something bad?”

”Vice Factory Director Jiang, don’t be afraid. We have no bad intentions. My son is still lying in the hospital bed, and the doctor said if he doesn’t get proper care, he might not be able to walk anymore.” Mrs. Zhao covered her mouth and started sobbing.

”Please don’t cry, old lady. I’ll go get the car and visit the hospital.”

Jiang Xinyu turned and went inside, heading straight to Qian Jun’s office.

”Mr. Qian, Zhao Zhongshuo was beaten up last night and is now in the hospital. His mother is outside, saying her son asked her to find me because I am the only one who can help him.

So I decided to go. I’ll drive this time; there’s no way the old lady can manage a bicycle.”

Qian Jun stood up. ”Secretary Fang, call Director Pan. Vice Factory Director Jiang, we’ll go with you.”

After waiting for about five minutes, the three of them drove out of the factory, picking up Mrs. Zhao on the way and heading straight to the hospital.

At the entrance of the supply and marketing cooperative, Mrs. Zhao insisted on buying some snacks for her son, so Pan Yuanliang accompanied her.

”Xinyu, do you think Zhao Zhongshuo knows who beat him?”

”He probably does, and I think it should be Kong Demin. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have sought me out. He’s trying to use my hand for revenge?

This time, I’ll fulfill his wish for him.”

Qian Jun looked at Jiang Xinyu’s cold smile, realizing he’d never seen this side of her before. So she did have a temper.

When they arrived at the hospital, it was already four o’clock. Mrs. Zhao first gave the snacks to her son, ”Little Shuo, eat first, we’ll talk later.”

”Mom, go rest over there, let me chat with the two factory directors first.”

”Zhao Zhongshuo, you should eat something first. We’re not in a hurry,” Jiang Xinyu said with a smile.

Watching him drink some water and then devour the peach crisp eagerly, he finished a full pound of it. He was truly hungry, having not eaten anything all day.

Mrs. Zhao’s eyes welled up as she watched her son wolf down the food.

Jiang Xinyu sat on a chair while Qian Jun and Pan Yuanliang stood by her side.

After eating his fill, Zhao Zhongshuo looked at Jiang Xinyu, ”Vice Factory Director Jiang, I have no grievances against you. All the trouble in the factory and the reports against you were arranged by Kong Demin.

Last night, he had Wang Dajiang call me. I went to the committee around eight. He wanted to catch you today and have Hu Xuefeng testify against you. I told him Hu Xuefeng couldn’t be found.

I suggested accusing you of selling a job to Kong Mengjie. But Kong Mengjie didn’t agree, so Kong Demin said he’d handle it and let me go home.

When I reached the alley, suddenly my head was covered, and three people started beating me with sticks.

They were sent by Kong Demin. They focused on hitting my legs, and the doctor just told me if I don’t recover well, I might not be able to walk for the rest of my life.”

Jiang Xinyu kept smiling throughout, until he finished, ”How do you know those three were sent by Kong Demin?”

”They put a sack over my head, but through the gaps, I saw Wang Dajiang. He didn’t hit me, though, he just watched.”

”It was already past nine when you got home, how could you see clearly?” Jiang Xinyu believed Kong Demin was behind this, but Zhao Zhongshuo’s account was unconvincing.

”I really saw Wang Dajiang. He was standing there, arms crossed. Oh, and I heard his voice too.”

Jiang Xinyu nodded, ”Alright, I believe you. But why did you call me here? Do you think I would help you after you reported me, and repay evil with good?”

”Vice Factory Director Jiang, I brought you here to get revenge for myself. Even if I report it, no one will believe me, but you, you’re different, Kong Demin is very wary of you.”

”Haha, I still don’t see why I should help you.”

Mrs. Zhao listened carefully, and hearing this, the old lady knelt down with a thud, ”Vice Factory Director Jiang, please don’t hold a grudge against a petty person, help my son. I don’t have long to live, what will happen to him then? He hasn’t even started a family yet.”

Jiang Xinyu helped the old lady up. ”No need for this. I’m not confident in dealing with Kong Demin.” Jiang Xinyu wasn’t about to say more.

”Vice Factory Director Jiang, I’ve realized your capability, Kong Mengjie mentioned we really can’t compete with you.”

Jiang Xinyu sneered, ”Saying it so casually.

Zhao Zhongshuo, I’m not helping you for revenge this time. What you want to do is your own business; I’m just handling my own matters.”

Zhao Zhongshuo looked at Jiang Xinyu and knew she hated him. Indeed, who would be able to forgive someone who tried to harm them?

”Vice Factory Director Jiang, I know I’ve wronged you, but if you ever need my help, just say the word.”

Jiang Xinyu stood up, with Qian Jun and Pan Yuanliang leaving with her.

”Vice Factory Director Jiang, didn’t you say letting him use you once?” Qian Jun asked curiously.

”Hmph, I changed my mind. Seeing Zhao Zhongshuo makes the hatred boil over, so I won’t let him have any advantage anymore. I’m already doing well by not dealing with him.”

Qian Jun thought to himself, this woman changes too quickly. Not even an hour and she’s changed her mind. Better remember not to provoke Jiang Xinyu in the future.

”Vice Factory Director Jiang, have you thought of a way?”

Jiang Xinyu shook her head, ”Not yet, I don’t even know where to start.”

”Kong Demin really managed to convince Kong Mengjie,” Pan Yuanliang asked, frowning, considering they’re siblings.

”It doesn’t matter. I sold my job when I wasn’t yet a textile factory worker. Since Kong Mengjie wants to do this, she shouldn’t blame me.”
