Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 537: 537 real-name report

”Hehe, that’s because I’m upright and just, and Kong Demin didn’t catch me doing anything wrong.

Besides, village chief, do you mean they harmed me, and I have to forgive them?

How can such a thing happen in the world? If it were you, you’d do the same.”

”I wouldn’t. We’re from the same village; I’d never go to extremes.”

”Hehe, well, that’s not me.

Village chief, if Kong Demin was really upright and just, even if I wanted to take him down, I wouldn’t have a way. So the problem lies with him.

Now it’s someone from the city handling this matter; it’s not up to you to have your way.”

”Xinyu, we’re all from the same village. Why didn’t you come to me first about reporting Demin? I would certainly stand up for you.”

”Oh? Did he inform the village chief when Kong Demin and Kong Mengjie harmed me?”

”Xinyu, I know you’re really angry, but we see each other often. It’s best not to be too harsh.”

Now that emotions didn’t work, is it time to resort to threats?

”Hehe, the Kong Family really has double standards. When you harm others, it’s forgivable. When others do something slightly against your wishes, then they deserve divine punishment.

I just want to ask why? Why? Just because your family has a big face? You don’t need to threaten me. Since I dared to report using my real name, I’m not afraid of anything.

Not to mention you’re the village chief now, even if you held a higher position, it wouldn’t matter.”

Kong Zhongyou listened to Jiang Xinyu’s resolute words and knew there was no room for negotiation for his second son in this matter.

He took a deep breath. ”Xinyu, don’t let the emotions get to you. Since Demin’s situation is already like this, maybe you can help with Mengjie’s situation?

She only listened to Demin, and besides, didn’t the incident not happen?”

Jiang Xinyu smiled gently at Kong Zhongyou. ”I wonder, village chief, do you know? Someone wanted to commit murder but didn’t succeed, yet he was still executed. Do you know why?”

At this point, Kong Zhongyou stopped speaking. It seems this situation will not be resolved without a fight.

He sighed, didn’t say anything, and turned to leave. He should go to the committee to check on his son; it would be best if he saw him.

Maybe he can find a way; he knows he can’t do it alone. Xinyu was right; he was merely a village chief, which means little outside.

Kong Mengjie followed behind her dad. With her pride, she could never bring herself to ask Jiang Xinyu for mercy.

However, Kong Dehong didn’t leave. He looked at Jiang Xinyu.

”Can’t you really forgive my brother? He might die because of this. You’re unharmed, right?”

Jiang Xinyu shook her head in disappointment. She thought there was a sensible person in the Kong family, but evidently, they’re all the same.

”Kong Dehong, if your brother knew that child was yours, how would he react?”

Kong Dehong looked at Jiang Xinyu in horror. How did she know about this matter? He fled in panic.

Jiang Xinyu just chuckled and turned to enter the textile factory. The Kong family was still as selfish as ever. Brotherhood and loyalty were all fake.

Xiao Liu followed behind Jiang Xinyu, feeling immense admiration for Vice Factory Director Jiang. So formidable, there was nothing Vice Factory Director Jiang couldn’t handle.

Kong Mengjie took Kong Zhongyou to the committee. The gatekeepers here had changed, and Kong Dehong couldn’t take them inside; only he could enter.

”Dehong, you go in yourself and see if you can meet your brother. I’ll head back with your sister. If you get any news, inform me immediately.”

Kong Dehong, still in fear, nodded and entered the committee.

Kong Mengjie took her dad home and immediately started preparing lunch.

”Dad, go lie down on the kang. When the food’s ready, I’ll call you.”

Kong Zhongyou indeed felt powerless. Without the energy to speak, he went directly inside to lie down on the kang.

His mind was a mess. His four children were his pride, all having official jobs in the city. The whole village envied him. But now, this situation has occurred, and he won’t be able to hold his head up in the village anymore.

At noon, Huang Hongwei returned with food from the canteen.

”Hongwei, Dad’s here.”

Huang Hongwei was stunned for a moment, immediately understanding who his wife was referring to.

He entered the room, saw his father-in-law lying on the kang, dared not make a sound, and withdrew.

He sat down to help with the fire. ”Mengjie, does Dad know about your brother’s situation?”

”Yes, Dehong came this morning to find me, and the two of us went home together. Dad came along too.

We went to find Jiang Xinyu, but she’s determined and wouldn’t budge.

We went to the committee, but Dehong couldn’t take us inside, so we had to return home and wait for news.”

Huang Hongwei knew it would turn out this way. If he were in Jiang Xinyu’s shoes, he’d never forgive those who wanted to harm him either. But he dared not say this aloud.

When lunch was ready, Kong Mengjie called Kong Zhongyou to eat.

”Dad.”

”Hongwei, you must not abandon Mengjie in the future.”

”I won’t, Dad, don’t worry. I’d never do such a thing.”

Kong Mengjie specially steamed egg custard for her father, but Kong Zhongyou didn’t eat a single bite. ”Save it for the kids.” He only ate three-grain flour buns.

”Dad, you should eat. I’ll steam more this evening for them. You really scared me this morning when you felt unwell. Please eat something good; my brother’s waiting for you to save him.”

”Sigh, what can I do? If it were anyone else, I could ask for Xinyu’s help. She’s the one I know with capability. Now I just hope Dehong can meet your brother; he’s been outside for years, surely he knows capable people.

By the way, what about his in-laws? And his wife?”

”Aunt is being guarded. I don’t know about my sister-in-law’s condition either.”

”What does aunt have to do with this?”

Kong Mengjie hesitated for a moment, then decided to speak.

”Dad, everyone outside is saying Changjun is my brother’s son. They say before Gan Shuling died, they were already together, and even say Gan Shuling was angered to death by them.”

The hand holding the chopsticks trembled intensely from anger.

”Mengjie, go find your sister-in-law this afternoon. They’re married; how can she not show up?”

”Hmm, I’ll go soon.”

Huang Hongwei didn’t say a word; whatever he said wouldn’t be appropriate given the situation.

They hadn’t finished eating when someone knocked on the door.

Huang Hongwei opened it, inviting Kong Dehong inside.

”Dad, my sister-in-law, I mean, Sun Hongxia already filed for divorce this morning, and submitted applications for severing ties.”

This made Kong Zhongyou drop his chopsticks onto the kang.

Kong Mengjie hurriedly crawled over. ”Dad, don’t get anxious. The family is waiting for you to decide and save my brother.”
