Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 541: 541 result

Early the next morning, Kong Mengjie went straight to Dehong’s house. She bought breakfast on her way. The family of four, except for Kong Menglin, who was still sleeping soundly, was up.

Upon seeing the fried dough sticks, she was overjoyed and sat down to eat.

Kong Zhongyou was not fond of such a daughter, but without comparison, there was no harm; she could only be this way.

”Mengjie, today we should go to the committee and find a way to take the three kids away. I thought about it yesterday; your second brother can’t be rescued. Your mom and I will take the kids back home, and you keep an eye here.”

”Dad, I think we should meet Meng Xiu Fen today.”

”That’s fine, let’s try. By the way, Dehong and Menglin still have jobs and need to go to work later.”

”Dad, I can’t go. It’s too uncomfortable; everyone looks at me with strange eyes.”

Kong Zhongyou glared, ”If you don’t go to work, then go back home with us and farm.”

With this, Kong Menglin wilted; she hated farming the most.

The siblings finished their meal and went to work. Since they hadn’t been fired yet, they should stay obediently and keep working.

In fact, Kong Mengjie’s idea was for them to resign. Resigning is much better than being fired, but seeing Dad’s look, she really didn’t dare to say it.

”Sigh! Mengjie, do you think they should resign?

But after resigning, they can only go back home to farm. Staying here might hold a small hope,” Kong Zhongyou finished with a bitter smile.

He wasn’t oblivious; you’d have to be living under a rock for so many years not to know. It was just wishful thinking in his heart.

”Dad, I understand, but I don’t think Menglin will be retained. Dehong is honest, so maybe he can continue working.”

”Sigh!” Kong Zhongyou sighed. Since this morning when Kong Mengjie arrived, he had sighed no less than twenty times, truly worried.

The three of them finished eating, and the mother and daughter tidied up the house a bit before heading to the committee together.

When they reached the entrance, Kong Mengjie braved it and went to negotiate with the guard.

”Comrade, can we see your leader? We really have something important, not related to Kong Demin. It’s just to apply to the leader; there are still three kids at home who don’t understand anything, know nothing.”

Kong Mengjie was beautiful, and with a low voice, she pleaded, so the comrade at the gate unexpectedly agreed.

He called Feng Dequan to explain the situation.

”The leader said you could go in, just in the director’s office.”

”Comrade, thank you so much, we’re extremely grateful.”

The three of them together found Feng Dequan. As soon as they entered, Tian Shulan knelt down.

”Leader, please, have mercy on us. We know Kong Demin made a mistake, and we’re not excusing him, but his three kids are still young. The oldest is only barely over four, and they know nothing at all.” Tian Shulan sobbed and cried.

Feng Dequan immediately stood up, ”This lady, please get up quickly. If you continue this way, I’ll have to ask someone to escort you out.”

Kong Mengjie supported her crying mother, ”Leader, we’re really pleading with you. The kids being here is of no use. Please be kind, allow us to take the three kids and the youngest’s mother back to our hometown.”

”We’ve already investigated, and it indeed has nothing to do with Zheng Xiuxiang. You can take the four of them away. And only their belongings can be taken; the house still belongs to Gan Jiancheng. We’re not being unreasonable, but Meng Xiu Fen and Kong Demin’s belongings can’t be taken.

Moreover, there’s a house Kong Demin transferred to Kong Dehong. We’ve also investigated this house, and it was definitely bought by the elderly, so we won’t reclaim it. However, his city house and the house for his ex-wife Sun Hongxia will be confiscated.”

The family quickly stated they had no objections, just whether they could meet Meng Xiu Fen.

This request was denied. It was within expectations. This was already quite good, at least they could still take back the three kids.

The three of them thanked profusely before leaving directly for Meng Xiu Fen’s home.

On the way, the three discussed matters concerning Zheng Xiuxiang.

”Dad, she wasn’t married to my second brother. Taking her out might not look good, but the child is too young, so let her decide. If she’s willing, she can come back with us; if not, we’ll just take the child back.”

Tian Shulan didn’t yet know the child belonged to Kong Dehong, so she immediately opposed, ”No, Yaozhong is too young. Without his mother’s milk, eating in the future will be a problem. If she wants to leave, it’s fine, but she must wait until my grandson is weaned before leaving.”

Kong Zhongyou and Kong Mengjie remained silent, as this was the best way.

No one was guarding here now. After entering, they directly found a terrified Zheng Xiuxiang.

”Hurry and pack your things. We’ve spoken to the leader. You can take the child back with us.

Also, if you want to leave in the future, it’s not impossible, but you must wait until the child is weaned.”

Zheng Xiu Jing nodded fervently like pounding garlic. Now, she could accept any condition, as long as she could leave from here. She was utterly frightened.

All her things had been rummaged through. Fortunately, she had hidden the money well, or else it would’ve been a real issue, unexplainable at that time.

”Alright, I’ve pretty much packed. We can leave now.”

Right now, Zheng Xiuxiang was solely focused on leaving here, everything else was trivial. Moreover, she wasn’t planning to stay with the Kong Family her whole life.

Although this child was Kong Dehong’s, she knew the Kong Family wouldn’t approve of them being together.

Moreover, Kong Dehong didn’t like her and had always been avoiding her.

The children’s things were many, not a single piece of clothing was left behind. Hard times were ahead, and larger clothes could still be worn by the younger ones.

Kong Mengjie, seeing the pile of stuff, said, ”Dad, let’s go catch a car back. We’ll pack up first, then the six of us can take the car back. It’s too cold, and I’m afraid the kids won’t handle it well. We’ll come back tomorrow to get the stuff.”

Kong Zhongyou shook his head, ”We’ll first take these things home. Tomorrow I’ll come back for the rest. We should avoid any accidents; it’s not safe here after all.”

Yu Jing was already petrified. Upon seeing her eldest aunt, she followed closely behind.

Zheng Xiuxiang and Tian Shulan also did what they could, carrying the bags and holding the child.

They went home once, and then Kong Zhongyou and the three made another trip, barely transporting everything back.

Zheng Xiuxiang was cooking at home. After the family finished eating, Kong Mengjie accompanied the three of them and the three kids to catch a car. Yet more suffering awaited them, as once they got to the county, they still had a long walk ahead.
