Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 137: 137 Trouble

”Jiang Xinyu, don’t worry. I, Wang Fangtian, assure you that if you encounter any difficulties in the future, I will do my utmost to help.”

”Me too!”

”Me too!”

Everyone expressed their stance.

Jiang Xinyu smiled, ”Thank you all. I won’t forget it.”

After finishing their meal, everyone hurriedly left, leaving only Lv Beiguang following Jiang Xinyu. ”Jiang Xinyu, are you really going to take the risk?”

”Yes.”

”Why do you have to?”

”It’s just following orders. It’s fine. By the way, I can arrange for a temporary worker for you.”

”She doesn’t want to.”

Jiang Xinyu shrugged. Well, there’s nothing that can be done. Everyone has their way of living.

The next day, Jiang Xinyu went to work. Before the morning meeting ended, someone from the security department came over.

”Director Jiang, someone is causing a scene outside.”

”Causing trouble? Try to calm them down first. I’ll head over once the meeting is over.”

”Yes.”

Jiang Xinyu was puzzled. Why would someone come and make trouble?

Everyone in the meeting room heard the news, and honestly, whether men or women, they were all quite gossip-prone. So the meeting ended hastily.

Jiang Xinyu, holding the meeting minutes, went straight to the entrance.

A woman was sobbing, and the fire of gossip in her heart was instantly ignited.

If a woman is crying, it’s sure to be a love affair. She had nothing else for entertainment to gossip about.

”Alright, comrade, don’t cry. This is our Director Jiang. Please tell her what’s going on.”

”Sister, stop crying. It’s not good to be at the main gate, come, let’s go inside and talk.”

”Director Jiang, Director Jiang, you have to stand up for me.”

”Sister, calm down. Xiao Liu, go to the union and ask Sister Tian to bring two people over.”

Jiang Xinyu tried her best to reason with the woman, but she just sat on the ground crying and wouldn’t get up.

This was really difficult, almost as if Jiang Xinyu had done her wrong.

”Sister, if you keep crying at the gate, I won’t be able to help you. Whatever issue there is, let’s solve it. What’s the use of crying?”

At this point, Sister Tian and the others came running over. It seemed everyone loved some gossip.

”Director Jiang, can you stand up for me?”

”Sister, I told you, let’s go inside and clarify things. If you stay here, it will affect our textile factory badly.”

The woman stood up, dusted off her backside, and followed them into the security hut.

This time, Sister Tian took center stage, and Jiang Xinyu could step back.

”Director Jiang, fellow comrades, I am Huang Hongwei’s wife, Dong Wenhua.

I went back to my hometown with three kids the year before last because the supplies here were too little, not enough for our family of five to live on, and also to save some money.

But this time when I brought him food, I found women’s clothes at home and strands of women’s hair on the pillow.”

After that, she started to cry loudly. ”I am left alone at home with the three kids, working in the fields every day for work points, and he brings women home?”

The four of them looked at each other, utterly shocked by the news.

”Comrade Dong, you might be overthinking. Have you spoken to Director Huang? There may be other explanations.” Sister Tian patiently comforted her.

”I haven’t seen Huang Hongwei yet. I’m really scared. If he abandons us, what will happen to us four? Director Jiang, you must help me.”

Jiang Xinyu smiled, ”Xiao Liu, could you please make another trip and ask Director Huang to come over?”

”Yes.” This Director Jiang is really approachable, speaks so politely. Xiao Liu ran off to find the person.

”Sister Dong, stop crying. You need to understand the truth before making any decisions.

You see, you don’t know what’s happening and rushed over causing a scene. If it turns out to be a misunderstanding, how embarrassing would that be?” Jiang Xinyu knew this matter wouldn’t end well, she felt rather sorry for the woman, but she needed to understand this wouldn’t benefit her, stopping her from harboring resentment in the future.

”Director Jiang!”

”Sister Dong, it’s alright. When Director Huang gets here, why don’t you go home and talk it over? If he really has wronged your family, come find me again, and I’ll make sure to handle it for you. Our textile factory is the fairest and takes great care of our families. You rest assured.”

Jiang Xinyu felt like she had become the neighborhood mediator, even more competent than Sister Tian.

Now Dong Wenhua was also scared. If she lost her job, how would she live? How could she hold her head up in the village? Her husband is a worker and also a director. In the village, who wouldn’t respect her?

Seeing her realization, Jiang Xinyu stopped talking, hoping she wouldn’t suffer any unfair treatment.

At that moment, Huang Hongwei came rushing over. Seeing his wife at the guardhouse, the veins on his forehead stood out.

”Director Jiang, Comrade Tian, I’m sorry for the disturbance. She is uneducated, I’ll take her home first.”

”Alright, Director Huang, head home. Talk it over properly. As workers of the textile factory, we not only need to do our jobs well but also maintain our families.”

”Yes, Director Jiang is right. We’ll head back first.”

Dong Wenhua didn’t dare to lift her head and followed behind Huang Hongwei as they left.

Sister Tian sighed as they left. Her view of Jiang Xinyu had changed; this girl was good. If this matter were resolved within the factory, Huang Hongwei would definitely be disciplined and demoted.

”Sister Tian, let’s head back.”

”Director Jiang, this matter?”

”Let’s just pretend we don’t know. If it happens again, the union will take responsibility for solving it.”

”Hmm, women have it hard!” Even if something truly happened, women often have to swallow their grievances.

Jiang Xinyu returned to the office, thinking that the female protagonist must be frightened now.

During lunch, Jiang Xinyu was having a meal with Song Qingqing and the others.

”Director Jiang, about today’s matter?”

”It’s not confirmed yet, so let’s not spread it around.”

Kong Mengjie was sitting on the side, unaware of what was happening. She was curious; every day was just work and the dormitory. Life was too monotonous.

”Director Huang hasn’t returned to work yet,” Pan Xiulan whispered.

”Let’s eat.”

Upon hearing about Director Huang, Kong Mengjie’s heart started pounding, and she couldn’t eat anymore. She hurriedly finished and left with hurried steps.

Jiang Xinyu watched her leave, sighing internally. This was a sign of having a guilty conscience.

Kong Mengjie returned her lunchbox and sat in a daze on her bed. She knew a woman came causing a scene in the morning, and that Huang Hongwei had gone home. How could it not be his wife finding out something?

Suddenly she remembered her shirt was left at his house. Thinking about it made her face turn pale.

She kept comforting herself, saying the shirt was ordinary and that many women owned such shirts, so it wouldn’t be traced back to her.

She was restless, and when the work bell rang, she mechanically stood up and returned to the workshop.

She was distracted the entire afternoon and almost got into danger.

”Mr. Kong, what’s wrong with you?”

”Nothing, just feeling a bit unwell.” Kong Mengjie forced a smile.
