Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 103: 103 Picking Up Cheap Deals

Arranged everything, the two rode their bikes to work, leaving three workers at home to do the job.

The morning was busy, visited the workshop three times.

Having lunch with Wang Ailing. ”Sis, I’m going to the supply and sales cooperative, do you need anything?”

”No, I’ve sent all my coupons back home.”

”I’ve cut fabric for two shirts for you, just haven’t had the time to sew them.”

”I’ll sew them myself, I’ll go pick them up tonight.”

”Great, what do you want to eat?”

”I want yam millet porridge.”

”No problem.”

After lunch, Jiang Xinyu hurriedly pushed her bike back home, seeing the foundation already dug out, and stones laid.

Took the bottle to the supply and sales cooperative.

”I thought you weren’t coming.”

”Sister She, I went home to get a bottle. Does the cooperative sell plastic barrels?”

”Yes.”

”That’s great, I was worrying about what to use for storing soybean oil yesterday.”

Having connections helps, bought five jin of soybean oil, five jin of kerosene, five jin of salt, one jin of baking soda, ten candles, and a pack of nine boxes of matches.

She wanted to buy dishes and bowls but was stopped by She Xiaoyun.

”I’ll take you to the ceramic factory to find Hou Wenquan when I have time.”

Jiang Xinyu understood instantly. Smiled and nodded, ”Sis, how about going next Saturday?”

”They rest on Saturday, let’s go tomorrow at noon.”

”Alright.”

Went home to drop off all the things bought today, then rushed back to work.

”Secretary Jiang, come with me to the city.” Wei Kaiyun came out holding the car keys.

”Okay. Can I go to the workshop to inform my sister?”

”I’ll give you five minutes.”

Jiang Xinyu ran to find Wang Ailing. ”Sis, I’ll bring it to you tomorrow morning, going to the city this afternoon.”

”Hmm, no rush.”

In the afternoon, there was an emergency meeting called by the mayor, where criticism was given to the factory collecting donations, along with all county leaders, especially the two county chiefs who had already paid and were suspended for review.

Jiang Xinyu inwardly mocked, how would people know about this if it weren’t for the city taking the lead?

Wei Kaiyun and Tao Juncheng were seated together in the front, although criticized, there were no economic losses, which could be considered a fortunate misfortune.

The meeting was very serious, the responsible deputy mayor and the chairman of the union were demoted. A disaster caused by unforeseen circumstances!

Jiang Xinyu rapidly took notes, picking out the key points from the leaders’ speeches.

Tao Juncheng turned to glance at Wei Kaiyun’s secretary.

”Pretty insightful.”

Wei Kaiyun just nodded. He was also satisfied with Jiang Xinyu’s work.

The meeting lasted three hours, everyone donned serious expressions, well, two were suspended, three were demoted, and the rest present were criticized.

Jiang Xinyu thought to herself that those at the top certainly knew about this, and this was the outcome.

On the way back, Wei Kaiyun mentioned how serious the matter was, spies had already been discovered.

”Haha, I was told above that there’d be rewards, asked me what I wanted. Dear, what should we ask for?”

”Resignation isn’t possible, right?”

”Said it’s a reward.”

”Could you leave the textile factory?” In Jiang Xinyu’s mind, Wei Kaiyun’s troubles started in the textile factory, so leaving might be a way out?

”Why?”

”Just a feeling, maybe you should go to another factory.”

”Alright, let me inquire. Should be possible, with Qian Jun here now, where do you think I should go?”

Jiang Xinyu shook her head, ”I don’t know, I just feel you should leave the textile factory.”

There was a brief silence in the car. ”If I leave the textile factory, I’ll probably go to work in the government.”

Jiang Xinyu felt conflicted, going to the government also had risks. But with only partial understanding, not paying attention might be best, just be an ordinary worker, but that’s not safe either; if someone’s set to trouble you, even going home to farm wouldn’t keep you uncovered.

”Dear, I’m going to the capital this time, you don’t have to come.”

”Take care yourself then.” Jiang Xinyu knew Wei Kaiyun couldn’t refuse when summoned.

”I want cold noodles for dinner tonight.”

”Alright.”

Jiang Xinyu got off the car right at the door of the house, while Wei Kaiyun drove back on his own.

Construction workers were still working, Jiang Xinyu greeted and entered to prepare the dough.

Thought about it, Wei Kaiyun would drive himself, so food would be a concern. Mixed eggs into the dough, would fry mahua tonight.

The weather’s hot, won’t spoil, and could also satisfy cravings.

While letting the dough rest, boiled water; had to bathe today.

Until it was dark and the workers left, Jiang Xinyu started frying mahua.

She didn’t bolt the front door, Wei Kaiyun smelled the rich scent of the oil upon reaching the door.

”Go wash up first, the mahua is ready, I’ll cook the noodles now.”

”Dear, why make such a laborious meal?”

”Packing it for you to eat in the car.”

The dressing for cold noodles was sesame paste and minced garlic.

By nine o’clock, the two finally lay on the bed. Wei Kaiyun muttered some irrelevant talk.

The next day, Wei Kaiyun left with the mahua. He didn’t use the textile factory’s car, probably secured another ride.

Jiang Xinyu needed to leave early today, putting the remaining two pieces of mahua in the lunch box, along with the shirts cut for Wang Ailing, bid farewell to the construction workers, and left.

Afraid something might come up in the morning, she went directly to Wang Ailing’s dormitory.

”Sis, here are the shirts for you, and the mahua is in the lunch box.”

”Mahua?”

”Yes, it’s for you to eat.”

”I can’t bear to eat it, I want to take it home for my parents to try.”

Jiang Xinyu didn’t say much, after all, it wouldn’t spoil.

After finishing cleaning, Qian Jun’s call came.

”Secretary Jiang, come to my office.”

”Okay.”

Jiang Xinyu spent the whole morning with Qian Jun, her arm too tired to lift, lucky her shorthand was fine.

”Alright, sort it out in the afternoon and hand it to the union, let them take charge.”

”Okay. Mr. Qian, I need to go out at noon, I’ll be back before afternoon work.”

”Something up?”

”Yes, I want to visit the ceramic factory, I lack dishes and bowls.”

”Alright, noon is your rest time.”

Having arranged to meet She Xiaoyun at the ceramic factory yesterday, Jiang Xinyu pedaled out at racing speed again.

When she arrived, She Xiaoyun and Hou Wenquan were already waiting at the entrance.

”Sorry for being late.”

”No problem, do you want to eat in our cafeteria?”

Jiang Xinyu shook her head, ”No thanks, I don’t have an appetite.”

Hou Wenquan didn’t insist, ”Secretary Jiang, what do you want? Are seconds okay? They can’t be sold, but still usable.”

”Sure, seconds are cheap.”

”Haha, seconds are free, some are out of the warehouse today, come, I’ll take you two to choose.”

Jiang Xinyu felt a bit embarrassed, ”Secretary Hou, I didn’t bring anything to carry them.”

”I’ll find you a basket later, then just bind it to the bike side.”
