Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 136: 136 Breach of promise

The two also thought of this.

Song Qingqing said cautiously, ”Then I won’t go. I haven’t planned on finding someone yet. Besides, my mom told me not to stay here.”

”I’ll go take a look and report back to you. Director Jiang, you’re not going, right?”

”Hmm, I’m not going. I need to work overtime on the weekend, and I plan to take a long vacation before the end of the year.”

”I think the same. I want to go home for the New Year, but I don’t know if Mr. Qian will agree?” Song Qingqing was a bit worried.

”I’m not going back. I’ve already told my mom that I want to stay here for the New Year. I heard the factory is really lively during New Year.”

The three are newcomers; none have experienced New Year at the factory.

After finishing their drinks, the two girls voluntarily washed their cups, which Jiang Xinyu was quite satisfied with.

The afternoon work increased considerably - phone calls, signatures. After work, Jiang Xinyu didn’t linger and went straight home to rest.

The next day, Qian Jun called Jiang Xinyu over, ”I’m going to Russia at the end of the month. Would you like to go with me?”

Jiang Xinyu furrowed her brows in distress, ”Mr. Qian, can you ask someone else to go with you? I’m really scared; I have a shadow over this.”

”Consider it. You speak Russian, and this trip won’t be as long as last time. We’re only buying cotton now—I already instructed my friend when I returned last time. He helped with the purchase, so we can verify the goods and load the truck directly.”

Jiang Xinyu still didn’t want to go; after all, she isn’t part of the procurement department.

”Director Jiang, if you go, I’ll give you a two-month vacation, with pay.” Qian Jun offered a tempting condition.

”Mr. Qian, I’ll think about it; last time was really suffering for me.”

”No worries. I’m going this time. I won’t let you face the dangers at the border alone. Plus, you can bring some private goods.”

The terms Qian Jun offered were hard for Jiang Xinyu to refuse.

”Mr. Qian, I’ll give you an answer tomorrow.”

”Alright, think it over carefully. You have a week.”

Jiang Xinyu returned to the office dejectedly, laying on the desk, struggling internally. She still couldn’t make up her mind.

”Hello, Wei Kaiyun.”

”They want me to go to Russia.”

”If you don’t want to go, then don’t go.”

”But there’s really a temptation - I can bring goods, and they’re giving a two-month vacation.”

Wei Kaiyun, on the other end, was annoyed; she had already made a decision but was a bit torn.

”Didn’t you say not to bring private goods?”

”Yes, but it’s okay to bring back some small things.”

”I hope you’ll be safe.”

”Hmm, I’m letting go.”

It’s really troublesome. Jiang Xinyu didn’t know what to do.

Wei Kaiyun was very dissatisfied; was Qian Jun after Jiang Xinyu, or just trying to find out something? It’s just the two of them going this time. And this trip would certainly bring back goods too, which would be very dangerous.

He picked up the phone and dialed, ”Don’t go.”

”I’ve decided to go; it’s no big deal. They said it’s just cotton this time.”

”It’s not.”

”I don’t need to take the lead this time; it’s fine. Don’t worry.”

Eventually, Wei Kaiyun reluctantly hung up, realizing it was likely what the higher-ups wanted. Was it really his decision to refuse?

Can’t help worrying. He suddenly picked up the phone again, hesitated, and finally dialed.

”Boss, I’m applying to go to Russia.”

”You have other work; no need for both of you to go.”

”Boss, I think we should bring in more raw materials this time.”

”Your work is more important than this.” Then the phone was hung up.

Wei Kaiyun leaned against the chair, dejected. Powerless, powerless.

During lunch, Jiang Xinyu found Qian Jun, ”Mr. Qian, I’ve decided to go.”

Qian Jun smiled, ”Good, during your business trip, the travel expenses and wages will be doubled.”

”Thank you, Mr. Qian.”

Jiang Xinyu wasn’t really going for the salary; she just thought it through—her refusal might be useless; they might just order her to go. Better to be tactful; that way, there would be benefits for her.

After work, Jiang Xinyu directly went to the supply and marketing cooperative. She Xiaoyun and the others usually finish an hour later.

”Xinyu, you’re back?”

”How did you know I went out?”

”I went looking for you, and the guard said you were on a business trip.”

”Yes, just got back yesterday. Sister, how about we meet tomorrow morning?”

”Sure, I’ll inform them.” The secretaries’ relations are getting tighter now.

”Xinyu, is there anything wrong?”

”I have to make another trip to Russia.”

”Forget about tomorrow night; let’s meet tonight. I’ll make some calls—come, let’s go to my office.”

She Xiaoyun excitedly pulled Jiang Xinyu along.

Liu Yuwei got even more excited after receiving the call.

”They all finished their shifts.”

”No worries, I’ll go find them now; they can all be found—restaurant in an hour.”

”Sister She, can I use the phone here to make a long-distance call?”

”No problem, go ahead. I’ll take a walk in the front.”

Everyone knew Jiang Xinyu’s call was certainly inconvenient, so they tactfully avoided it.

”It’s me. Do you want to get in touch with Old Yang?”

”Are you really decided?”

”Yes.”

”This time won’t be peaceful either.”

”I’m mentally prepared.”

”Alright, call me back in ten minutes.”

”Okay, I’m at the supply and marketing cooperative.”

Wei Kaiyun understood her intention of contacting Old Yang—it was to bring items anyway.

In no time, She Xiaoyun brought Jiang Xinyu some rock sugar.

”Sister She, I need to make one more call.”

”No worries, this is from the sisters in the front for you. You’re quite famous here now. Alright, I’m off to do some checks.”

”Old Yang needs a railcar. He’ll be waiting for you at station X. You can let Qian Jun know about this.”

It’s actually a cover for their relationship, making Qian Jun think it’s all for mutual benefits is pretty good too.

”Understood. Do you need anything?”

”Nothing, as long as you’re safe.”

”Hmm.”

In the evening, a few people gathered at the restaurant, and they were especially grateful to Jiang Xinyu.

”Xinyu, we’ll bring the money to you the day after tomorrow,” Hao Shichao said excitedly. He made money last time and received a lot of gratitude.

”Alright, just give me the total amount.”

Only Lv Beiguang was frowning; he knew best the hardships involved.

”Jiang Xinyu, are you sure?”

”No worries, Mr. Qian is coming with me. But I need to be clear—there’s risk involved. If we’re really caught, it’s a total loss. You should be mentally prepared and discuss this with your families.”

”We understand. Last time you didn’t say, Beiguang told us. We’re prepared.”

Lv Beiguang was still worried, thinking—even with Qian Jun, what could happen? He knew very well that when the guns were pointed at you, they didn’t care who you were.
