Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 131: 131 Oh, I see.

Wei Kaiyun looked at her bewildered expression and felt a bit displeased. He took a quick step into the yard, staring at her with a straight gaze, and closed the door behind him.

”You don’t want to see me?”

Hearing the eerie voice, Jiang Xinyu’s wandering thoughts returned.

She gave Wei Kaiyun a side-eye and turned to walk back.

Wei Kaiyun hugged her from behind, ”You haven’t answered my question.”

”Let go, it’s too hot.”

Wei Kaiyun felt a bit hurt; they hadn’t seen each other for over two months, and somehow they had become distant?

Instead of letting her go, he held her shoulders to face him.

”Wife, how could you be like this?”

”You smell too sweaty, go take a shower first.”

Wei Kaiyun felt like his heart shattered into pieces.

He reached under her arms, lifted her up and directly kissed the lips he had longed for.

Because Jiang Xinyu was lifted up, her feet couldn’t touch the ground, so she wrapped her arms around his neck.

Wei Kaiyun let go of her waist, lifted her thigh, and encircled her around his waist.

After a good while, Jiang Xinyu finally recovered.

”Wife, you smell sweaty too, should we go wash together?”

Jiang Xinyu jumped down, ”No, I’ll cook.” Her face was already bright red, turned away.

Of course, Wei Kaiyun noticed. He saw her ears were red from behind, knowing she was shy.

He picked up his leather bag and followed her inside, ”Wife, I want to eat cold noodles.”

”Got it. Go take a shower, there’s hot water in the thermos.”

All sense of estrangement vanished completely.

Wei Kaiyun found his change of clothes and happily went into the bathroom.

Jiang Xinyu hurriedly started kneading dough and cooking. She was here alone, planning to eat watermelon and drink milk before bed. Now that Wei Kaiyun was back, she really had to cook.

As for the marinade, she only had sesame paste, but she still soaked the kelp, shrimp, and prawn meat, needing it for tomorrow.

Wei Kaiyun ate two big bowls of cold noodles, feeling most comfortable at home.

The couple sat in the yard. ”Wife, your expression just now scared me. I thought you didn’t want me anymore.”

”If you don’t come these days, you won’t see me on Monday.”

”Why?” Wei Kaiyun asked nonchalantly.

”Going to a meeting at the Provincial City’s textile management bureau on Monday.”

”Oh? You’re not a secretary now, and you still need to travel for work?”

”Mr. Qian instructed.”

Now Wei Kaiyun understood; was someone trying to steal his wife? That’s quite bold.

”Wife, I was thinking of staying to keep you company for a week.”

”I’m leaving on Monday, you came back this time for?”

”With the pretense of sending money, coming home to see my wife.”

”Wife, let’s go rest. I’ve been driving for a day and a night.”

”Where’s your money?”

”My secretary sent it back to the textile factory.”

With that, Jiang Xinyu felt at ease. They returned indoors, Jiang Xinyu wanted Wei Kaiyun to go to the west room, but how could she achieve that?

Luckily, it was said that tomorrow is Saturday. Jiang Xinyu woke up later in the morning, after nine.

Looking at the man lying beside her, Jiang Xinyu felt quite empathetic.

Since knowing Wei Kaiyun, she had never seen him still asleep at this hour.

She got up quietly, lit the stove in the yard, and soon used clams, prawn meat, and shrimp to cook porridge. It would definitely be fresh.

Wei Kaiyun woke up as Jiang Xinyu got out of bed. Feeling her cautious movements, he was delighted.

While cooking porridge, Jiang Xinyu also used eggs and dough to make pancakes; this meal would serve as both breakfast and lunch.

Wei Kaiyun drifted back to sleep, only to be awakened by the enticing aroma.

He put on a vest and got out of bed. Standing in the main room, he watched the woman cooking by the wall with delight, she was his, no one else should touch.

”Wife.”

”Go wash up, it’s almost time to eat.”

For lunch, they ate until they were sweating and both had too much.

”The porridge is really fresh, wife.”

”We secretaries, along with Wang Ailing, bought it at the seaside, one yuan per pound. I bought quite a lot, why don’t you take some back?”

”No, I don’t have time to cook. Wife, when will you transfer to the Provincial City?”

”No idea, not anytime soon.” She would have to wait until the male and female protagonists meet according to the original plot, as Wei Kaiyun went to prison before they fell in love. Once they fall in love, this is when they escape the storyline, right?

”Aren’t you worried about me? I stay in the dormitory every day, can’t sleep well, can’t eat well, look, I’m losing weight.”

”Just eat more.”

”Wife, you’ve gained some weight since I came back, especially there, really gained a lot.”

Jiang Xinyu gave him a side-eye but felt quite happy inside, it seems the pig trotters indeed worked. She hadn’t gained weight but had replenished herself.

”Wife, Old Yang is coming tonight.”

”Alright, I’ll go outside this afternoon to buy some chives. Let’s make three-flavored dumplings.”

”I’ll go check outside, see if there’re eggs.”

After discussing, Jiang Xinyu was picked up onto the bed for what was called a nap.

In the afternoon, Wei Kaiyun left first. Jiang Xinyu also carried a basket and went out for a stroll. She certainly didn’t find anything, but she brought back a piece of pork belly and a handful of chives.

She cut off a portion to make the meat filling, and the remaining large piece she put straight into the pot to cook for braised pork.

By almost eight in the evening, Wei Kaiyun returned with Old Yang carrying large bags.

”Smells good, smells like Xiao Jiang’s cooking.”

”Master Yang, long time no see.”

”Xiao Jiang, grown prettier, quite a lady now.”

Jiang Xinyu chuckled, what’s this? Sounds like words of comfort from elders, a bit like ”My daughter has grown up”.

”Master Yang, quickly sit and rest, I’ll go cook dumplings.”

In the yard was a square table with a bottle of Erguotou, a plate of peanuts, a plate of mixed kelp shreds, a plate of omelette eggs, and a plate of sesame paste cucumber shreds.

Old Yang sat at the table, ”Xiao Wei, you’re lucky.”

”Yeah, it took me years to realize I’m lucky.”

Wei Kaiyun returned home empty-handed without anything bought. He followed Jiang Xinyu into the main room, wanting to start the fire, ”No need, you accompany Master Yang to drink, I can handle this myself.”

Wei Kaiyun hugged Jiang Xinyu from behind, gave her ear a peck, then left before she could protest.

Seeing Old Yang’s teasing smile, he helplessly sat down and poured him some wine.

Jiang Xinyu brought a large bowl of braised pork to the table, ”Master Yang, help yourself.”

”Haha, I certainly won’t hold back.” Saying this, he picked up chopsticks and ate a piece of braised pork, soon eating two more pieces.

The meat melted in the mouth, having been stewed on the stove for over two hours.

A quarter-hour later, the dumplings were served as well.
