Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Now Jiang Xinyu was even more certain about her suspicions.

”Alright, we’re leaving. If you’re not feeling well, go to the infirmary.” Jiang Xinyu kindly reminded, and then she and Wang Ailing left.

Lying sideways on the bed, Kong Mengjie was in tears. She was an educated girl and knew what was most important for a woman.

Now that it’s gone, what will the future be like? Do I have to lower myself to a man in his thirties? His son isn’t much younger than me either.

Kong Mengjie felt chaotic inside. If this man were Zhao Zhongshuo, it would be better, at least he’s single and the age is similar.

But if Zhao Zhongshuo finds out about my situation, he surely won’t want me, right?

Kong Mengjie was filled with hatred, hating Huang Hongwei, but what he said to her was that he would certainly promote her to team leader, and later she could become a group leader.

I can’t really report him, otherwise I won’t have any way to live. I’ll wait for a while and if it doesn’t work out, I’ll go to Zhao Zhongshuo and find a way to muddle through.

Thinking about this, Kong Mengjie planned her future steps, and dared not lie flat because her back hurt too much, certainly from the bed boards. Soon, she slowly fell asleep.

Jiang Xinyu and Wang Ailing left the factory, running all the way to the stop point, worried about missing the bus at quarter past eight.

There were a few people at the stop, which made them relieved.

”Sis, have you eaten?”

Wang Ailing shook her head, ”No, I was afraid of being late.”

”Well, I have some sugar buns here, eat quickly behind others, so you won’t feel sick when you’re on the bus later.”

”Hmm, how many?”

”Are two enough?”

”They are enough.”

This big girl ate with such boldness, taking a third of it in one bite.

The two got on the bus and sat together. Wang Ailing drank half a pot of water.

”Now I feel comfortable.”

”Sis, why don’t you take a nap?”

”I’m not tired now, no worries. Thinking about going home, I’m excited.”

They arrived in the village at half past ten. By this time, everyone should be working in the fields, only a few kids were seen.

”Xinyu, I’m going home, I need to cook for my parents.”

”You come home with me first, I have some cornmeal which you can use to improve things for Aunt Wang.”

Wang Ailing gritted her teeth, ”Alright!” She truly felt for her parents at home.

After sending off Wang Ailing, Jiang Xinyu began cleaning. The vegetable patches in the yard were already turned over, seemingly not yet planted, and she planned to do so now.

After cleaning, she quickly started a fire, as the house was too damp and cold; otherwise, it would be unlivable at night.

In the afternoon, she took a bath at home. The journey made her sweaty, plus it was all dirt roads, and cleaning made her face feel like it’s coated with mud.

Lunch was steamed buns again, simply too lazy to cook, but this time they were stuffed with pork head meat, like a simple meat sandwich, very fragrant.

After eating, she unpacked the luggage in her space and lay down to sleep.

Feeling halfway awake, she knew she should get up, but her eyes wouldn’t open. In the end, she allowed herself to continue sleeping.

This time, the dream was again filled with scenes from the book. All about Kong Mengjie and the male lead Shen Xueqi’s tormented romance.

The heroine was destined to fall in the hands of a married man. To be with the heroine, the male lead divorced, giving up his son. The female supporting character, the male lead’s wife Wang Meifang, turned dark, but it just so happened to allow the heroine to escape the textile factory, and the two lived a loving life in the countryside, just surviving the turmoil.

Jiang Xinyu suddenly woke up, thought for a while, realizing it had nothing to do with her now. She should be out of the plot, just tied together with Wei Kaiyun, and must find a way for him to escape the plot too.

Looking at the watch, it was already four in the afternoon, truly a long sleep.

She got up to find the two pounds of peanuts bought last time, shelled them to about one and a half pounds, took out farming tools, and planted them in the corner of the wall. Vegetables weren’t planned to be grown here anymore, better to plant corn.

She had corn seeds in her space which should sprout. Thinking of this yard being managed by the Wang Family, she planned to share half with them later.

Kept some room for Aunt Wang to plant some pumpkin vines in the future.

After planting, she broke another sweat, boiled a pot of hot water for a bath again.

This afternoon’s nap was too long, making her not sleepy at all at night.

The more she couldn’t sleep, the more she thought about Wei Kaiyun. Wondering how he was doing in the Capital? Thinking about it, she fell asleep again.

The next day, after breakfast, she wandered to the fields.

By this time, work had already started, looking at the plow barely moved by the ox, questioning if the seeds planted would even sprout.

Jiang Xinyu looked at everyone’s hopeless expressions, feeling truly upset.

Yet this was natural hardship, how could it be fought against?

The more she looked, the more upset she became, needing to go through this every return.

She didn’t go over to greet, given the situation, this year would be even more difficult.

With her head down, she walked back home in low spirits, ”Jiang Xinyu sister.”

She looked up to see a little girl, thin and dark, staring at her; she didn’t recognize her.

”Who are you?”

”I’m Zhou Lihong’s sister Zhou Lili. Sister, you’re back?”

”Yes, how are the three of you?”

”Pretty good, if not for you, I guess the three of us wouldn’t have survived.”

”I didn’t do much, what are you doing here?”

”I’m taking water to my sister. I’m leaving now.”

Jiang Xinyu didn’t know what to say.

She felt too stifled, even breathing was hard, and didn’t want to go out after returning home.

Until noon at twelve o’clock, she couldn’t wait and went to the Wang Family.

”Xinyu, have you eaten? Come and have some.”

”Aunt, I’ve eaten, I’m here to pick up Sister Ailing and head back.”

”Xinyu, I’ve packed up, we can leave after eating.”

”Okay, no rush. Aunt, I’ve planted some peanuts and corn in the yard, leave some room for pumpkin vines to be planted in the future.”

”Alright, don’t worry, I’ll keep an eye on it from time to time. You two finish eating and hurry back, don’t be late.”

”Mom, do you think it’s going to rain?” Wang Ailing asked.

”The weather is indeed too stuffy. I hope the sky opens up and rains, so everyone has hope.”

”Hurry back, if it really starts raining, don’t get drenched.”

The two walked down the road, Jiang Xinyu looking up at the sky, indeed a bit overcast.

Really praying for rain, giving everyone a chance to breathe.

They arrived at the town stop, waited half an hour before getting on the bus.

On the bus, the rain topic was all the conversation too.

”Look, the sky is getting darker, it’s really going to rain.”

This made everyone on the bus excited. A middle-aged man laughed heartily ”If it really rains, I’ll let it drench me.”

”Yes, it rained this time last year too, the heavens won’t starve blind sparrows.”

”Xinyu, it’s really going to rain.” Wang Ailing clutched Jiang Xinyu’s hand.

”Best for it to rain, so everyone has hope.”

Wang Ailing got off first, then Jiang Xinyu alighted at her station. Walking back home, she felt the wind picking up, when the wind comes, the rain follows. She quickened her steps home.
