Global Awakening: I'm the Only One Ready

Chapter 296. Changes in the Ruins, Gestating a God

Lu Yuan made his decision. At the same time, his heart stirred with curiosity. Up until now, he had never truly had the opportunity to explore the true secrets of Mount Tai.

The first two Awakenings had not yet been enough for the entire world to fully reveal itself before everyone. While in his previous life, he had utterly lacked both the strength and the qualifications to do so.

But things were different now.

The third Global Awakening had begun. And the various truths of this world would also begin to be unveiled step by step.

As the site of imperial sacrifices, Mount Tai held an extremely important place in the historical civilization of all Huaxia.

If he could uncover the secrets hidden within it, then perhaps he could also unravel many other mysteries. For instance, those powerful enemies whom Guang Chengzi and the Primordial Dragon had sought to oppose.

Also, just what exactly was this unknown Great Calamity they spoke of?

Yes. Aside from the invaders from the Outer Cosmos, Lu Yuan had also always been worried about the Great Calamity that all the sages of antiquity had treated with such gravity.

Though everything still remained intact for now, who could say when it would appear?

The moment Lu Yuan made up his mind, he no longer hesitated and stepped straight out of the house.

But very soon, Jiang Ningxian also came out.

The two looked at each other.

”Where is Holy Son Jiang?” Lu Yuan took the initiative to ask, because during this recent period, he truly had not seen Jiang Haokang.

”Him?” Jiang Ningxian looked faintly exasperated, then said, ”In the hopes to suppress you in the future, he went straight into seclusion. While waiting for the Separation of Heaven and Earth to be lifted even further, he also wants to raise his own strength as much as possible.”

After saying this, she glanced at Lu Yuan with a rather helpless expression.

”Suppress me?” Lu Yuan was briefly taken aback. But he quickly understood.

As a genius of the Jiang Clan and its Holy Son, Jiang Haokang must have been the most outstanding person in his surroundings ever since childhood. Across the entire Desolate Flame Starfield, there was likely no one who could rival him.

A person like that would naturally possess his own pride and arrogance. Now that someone had outdone him, it was only natural that he would refuse to accept it.

”Forget it. Let’s not talk about that brat.” Jiang Ningxian shook her head, not wanting to say more, and instead asked, ”You’ve also sensed some of the changes within Mount Tai, haven’t you? Do you have any thoughts?”

”Not for the moment. I’ll have to investigate before I know.” Lu Yuan answered, not attempting to hide anything. He knew that the changes in Mount Tai could never have escaped her notice.

Jiang Ningxian had always kept a low profile and appeared calm, graceful, and serene.

But Lu Yuan was clear that she was the Saintess of the Jiang Clan, blessed with peerless talent, and far from as simple as she appeared on the surface. So one absolutely could not treat her like some ordinary young girl.

Besides, the two of them had already spent a fair amount of time together. In this regard, there was naturally nothing that required excessive caution or wariness.

”Then let’s go have a look together,” Jiang Ningxian suggested without saying anything more.

At once, the two of them headed directly up Mount Tai. Though this was not their first ascent, things felt different.

During the climb, both Lu Yuan and Jiang Ningxian could clearly sense that the aura and pressure Mount Tai was giving off had changed from before. Even though there was little change to its outward appearance, the two of them still noticed it.

”During the first and second Awakenings, Mount Tai also underwent corresponding changes, though they were not too significant. But now... ” Jiang Ningxian frowned slightly and continued, ”This is completely different from the previous two times.”

Beside her, Lu Yuan nodded. He had the same thoughts, but he said nothing and chose to observe in silence instead.

Very soon, the two of them reached Jade Emperor Peak, the highest point of Mount Tai.

”Master.”

At that moment, the Golden-Winged Great Peng and the Spirit Monkey also approached. As for the Peacock King, the Nine-tailed Fox King, and the others, they each had matters of their own to attend to, and so were not on Mount Tai for the time being.

”Master, starting several days ago, those celestial palace ruins on Mount Tai have been glowing day and night. At first, we thought it would only last for a short time, but unexpectedly, it has continued like this almost every single day,” the Golden-Winged Great Peng explained the strange occurrence that had recently appeared atop Jade Emperor Peak.

Lu Yuan immediately turned his head and looked into the distance. Sure enough, those celestial palace ruins—the broken walls and shattered remains—were all surging with gentle rays of light. At closer inspection, some places had runes floating across them.

Since he had never come into contact with such things before, he had no idea what they meant. He asked Jiang Ningxian but she had no idea either.

Seeing this, Lu Yuan walked straight into the celestial palace ruins and opened his Martial Dao Heavenly Eyes. In an instant, he saw all the surrounding world force converging here. It intertwined with those crumbling walls and ruined structures, fused with them, and then sank into the ground.

Yes, into the ground.

The surrounding world force was being drawn in, and through some special method, it was merging into Mount Tai itself.

Lu Yuan began observing the mountain body as well. He discovered that the strange aura from earlier was precisely from within the mountain body itself. But when he tried to probe deeper, he found that he could not do so.

It was as if some force was veiling the greatest secret hidden within it, making it impossible for outsiders to investigate. Unless one could split Mount Tai apart in its entirety. But to achieve that was obviously impossible.

Every famed mountain and river possessed its own unique properties. How difficult would it be to split one open?

Helpless, Lu Yuan frowned slightly and then looked to the side.

Over there, Jiang Ningxian was also constantly observing. In her hand was a bronze mirror. Every place its light fell upon produced a different response.

”Well? Have you discovered anything?” Lu Yuan asked, walking over.

Since even the Martial Dao Heavenly Eyes could not see through this, he had no better option and could only seek another method.

The Jiang Clan, as one of the most powerful great races in the entire universe, surely possessed many unexpected means of investigation. Yet, to his surprise, the moment Jiang Ningxian heard the question, she shook her head directly.

”I haven’t discovered anything either. I can only see the surface. As for the deeper regions, it’s as if they’re covered by a layer of mist. It seems that some kind of special power is trying to conceal it, and is unwilling for outsiders to know.”

This was what she had found, and she recounted it plainly and without omission. It was more or less the same as what Lu Yuan himself had learned.

”I’m wondering whether all famed mountains and rivers are like this, or whether it is only Mount Tai,” Jiang Ningxian spoke again, raising this question because she found it all too strange.

This was already the Third Awakening. What other secrets could there be?

”It should only be Mount Tai,” Lu Yuan answered.

He had been to many places before. Leaving the distant ones aside, even just in the Hengduan Mountains before, he had not come across such a situation.

”That only makes it even stranger.”

Jiang Ningxian’s brows knitted even tighter than before. Then she lifted the bronze mirror and continued, ”Based on my observations, the world force is constantly converging into the mountain body. Though the amount is not great, it has been continuing without pause. And the power within it is becoming more and more vast, more and more refined. It is as though... it is gestating a god!”
