Global Awakening: I'm the Only One Ready

Chapter 253. Success, It’s Over, Return to Earth

Lu Yuan’s injuries could no longer be suppressed. His opponents this time were no ordinary foes. They were Immortals, existences beyond the Sage Realm. Even the pressure they radiated alone was not something a Venerable King could withstand.

On the path of evolution, Immortals were at a higher tier compared to mere mortals. Lu Yuan knew that he had succeeded only by relying on the contingency plan that the sages of antiquity had left behind.

If it were a real fight, he wouldn’t be able to resist at all. The gap between them was simply too vast. This realization only made Lu Yuan even more desperate to become even stronger, far stronger than a Sage.

Fortunately, this trip to the moon had given him a faint glimmer of insight into how to make that breakthrough.

”He’s injured?” The Yin Sparrow Lesser Sage noticed, and his dark wings trembled slightly. ”He’s still on the fifth stage of evolution, but his courage and everything else about him are top-tier.

”If he’s allowed to keep growing, he’ll become terrifying.”

”What if we strike now and kill him?” asked the Three-Headed Ghost Lesser Sage, raising the same idea as before.

Lu Yuan was daring enough to defy Immortals. He had exceptional talent, and he was already so strong, even though Earth’s Awakening had just begun. He would inevitably become a formidable enemy in the future.

The Three-Headed Ghost Race and Lu Yuan had long since forged a bitter enmity between them. The Three-Headed Ghost Lesser Sage wanted to eliminate Lu Yuan before he could grow strong enough to threaten his entire race.

The Primeval Daemon Lesser Sage shared the same sentiment. Even though the Celestials had already sent word that no one was to touch Lu Yuan, the sense of crisis in his heart was growing too strong to ignore. They had to act soon.

Fortunately, it seemed Lu Yuan couldn’t make use of the Separation of Heaven and Earth again anytime soon. This was their best opportunity to take his life.

The Yin Sparrow Lesser Sage nodded in agreement, and the black flames around him flared, becoming even darker. His original goal had been to subdue Lu Yuan and to make use of him.

At this point, he could no longer achieve that goal. Lu Yuan was just too arrogant. Since that was the case, there was no reason to let him live. The twelve Lesser Sages reached a silent consensus and began thinking on how to deal with him.

Just then, Lu Yuan glanced in their direction from the moon’s surface and quietly produced the World-Shifting Talisman. His figure vanished into the corridor once more.

The Lesser Sages mustered their power in response, but before they could do anything, a familiar aura appeared behind them.

It was Uncle Jiang. He had been watching them the whole time. He was standing guard against exactly this kind of situation.

Lu Yuan’s figure reappeared moments later, and he was already within Earth’s boundary. Without hesitation, he descended, ignoring the twelve Lesser Sages.

Since he had done everything he could do, there was no reason for him to stay any longer. He was also injured and had to recover. At the same time, he intended to use this opportunity to find a way into the Sage Realm.

The greatest crisis had been resolved, but only for now. The beings from the Outer Cosmos would keep invading Earth, and the Separation of Heaven and Earth would eventually fade away.

Once it was no longer around, even stronger enemies would be waiting to face him. If he wanted to resolve every crisis in the future, he had to truly become strong. He didn’t have even a moment to rest, as every second counted.

”Everyone, this old man will take his leave now,” Uncle Jiang said, facing the Lesser Sages with a glimmer in his eyes. He saw through their intentions, but they had no chance of acting on them, as he was around.

Since everything was over now, he had no reason to stay here. He returned to Earth, leaving the twelve Lesser Sages seething with fury.

Uncle Jiang’s power was being suppressed, so if it came to a real fight, he was not necessarily their match, even with the Little Shennong Cauldron. However, the Separation of Heaven and Earth was still around. If they were to make any fancy moves, they’d end up being its target.

”The Immortals have made their move, but they still ended up failing.” The Yin Sparrow Lesser Sage could hardly believe it. After all, their opponent was alone. It was just Lu Yuan with no one else to accompany him.

”This won’t end here,” the Three-Headed Ghost Lesser Sage said. ”We’ve all decided to descend on this planet here in the Milky Way Starfield. They won’t give up over a single setback.”

He was certain there would be another chance. His desire to invade Earth grew stronger along with his desire to kill Lu Yuan and remove this threat to his race once and for all.

Hum!

Just then, noises echoed from deep space. The twelve Lesser Sages heard those and scattered in different directions. Those noises carried messages from their respective races and clans, and they were prompted by the failure of the plan.

Just as the Three-Headed Ghost Lesser Sage had predicted, the great clans and races of the Outer Cosmos had no intention of abandoning their plans to invade Earth.

Meanwhile, every living being on Earth noticed that the strange phenomena in the sky had vanished. The sea of planets blanketing the firmament was no more, and the heavens had returned to normal.

Did that mean Earth’s crisis was over? Had the Outer Cosmos’ plan to invade them ended in failure?

The Awakened and ordinary people alike shared that thought. Without confirmation, however, unease still lingered in their hearts.

As for the beings from the Outer Cosmos who were already on Earth, every one of them was stunned. They didn’t know what had happened, but they knew one thing for sure—it was not good news.

Those in the Mount Tai Trials Academy still felt shaken by the waves of pressure and the terrifying scenes above. When they all disappeared, Elder Ji and the others remained frozen in place, unsure of what to think.

No one knew the outcome of the fight.

Just then, Lu Yuan’s figure appeared in the sky above. He was descending with Uncle Jiang behind him.

”King Lu!” Everyone rushed forward at once, tension etched across their faces.

”It’s over. King Lu protected the Earth,” Uncle Jiang said, smiling. He glanced at Jiang Ningxian nearby and nodded lightly in confirmation.

Silence descended at once. Ice Fairy and the others exchanged stunned gazes. The deep lines on Elder Ji’s and Elder Yun’s faces softened all at once.

Prior to today, nearly everyone felt extremely nervous whenever they looked up at the sky full of foreign planets. Now, they were gone, and they no longer had to live while feeling like they were being suffocated.

Just as they were about to erupt into cheers, the perceptive Zhu Qingyu asked, ”Are you okay, King Lu?”

The moment she said that, everyone noticed Lu Yuan’s feeble aura. His face was deathly pale, drained of all color.

”King Lu, are you okay?”

It was like a bucket of cold water was poured over the crowd. Lu Yuan was the strongest person on Earth, and he had just stopped the Outer Cosmos’ invasion, but they all hoped that he was fine.

Elder Ji, Elder Yun, and the others revealed worried faces.

In response, Lu Yuan simply shook his head and said, ”It’s nothing. I just need some time to rest and recover.”

His reassurance did little to assuage their worries. Elder Ji immediately declared that he would gather a massive supply of spiritual fruits and exotic herbs to help mend Lu Yuan’s injuries.

”You don’t need to worry so much. He’s hurt, but he has profited greatly from the entire ordeal,” Jiang Ningxian said, her voice cutting through the tension. She looked at Lu Yuan and asked, ”So your next step is becoming a Sage?”
