Global Awakening: I'm the Only One Ready

Chapter 258. The Unity of Spirit and Flesh, a New Ability, Setting the Stage

”The Sage Realm.”

Feeling the power coursing through him, Lu Yuan’s eyes glimmered with delight.

To be precise, he had reached the sixth stage of evolution—the Void Sage Realm. The Void Sage Stage was one of the three sub-realms of the Sage Realm, and it meant he had truly stepped through the gates of the powerful.

In every conceivable way, his soul and his body had reached an extremely high level. The union between them was flawless. This was known as ”the unity of spirit and flesh”. Both Lu Yuan’s body and soul had become incredibly difficult to destroy. Only those with truly terrifying power could possibly destroy it.

Lu Yuan was always capable of fighting against those at a higher stage of evolution than he was. Yet when facing Sages, despite being only a single stage below them, he still had to go all out just to match them.

In fact, he had to play every card up his sleeve to kill three Sages. In addition, those Sages were being suppressed by the Separation of Heaven and Earth.

Against Sages at their full, unsuppressed strength, he could fight them to a standstill at best. He couldn’t kill them.

However, things were different now. Lu Yuan had reached that powerful realm himself. If he encountered Lei You or any other Sages again, he could suppress them with ease.

Within the same realm, he was unmatched. If he went all-out, he could cut down even a Lesser Sage. It was not out of the question at all.

Since Lu Yuan had shattered all one hundred eight genetic shackles prior to reaching the Sage Realm, his potential, his explosive power, and strength were all beyond comparison.

Now that he had become a Sage, his efforts had paid off in spades, and he could keenly feel it.

There was one more thing. Upon reaching the Sage Realm, Lu Yuan discovered that he had gained a special ability—the ability to tear through the void. He could cover vast distances in a short time, but the limitations were significant.

First, sustaining it required a certain amount of power. Secondly, the range was not that far. Of course, that would change once he advanced to become a Lesser Sage or a Great Sage.

Lu Yuan thought about many things, but he also understood that another breakthrough in the near future was out of the question. He still had to accumulate strength or find more opportunities.

For now, none of that mattered. He was strong enough to do what he ought to do.

This world suppressed Sages from the Outer Cosmos, but Lu Yuan was a native of Earth, which meant he was an exception. This world wouldn’t suppress him.

With that in mind, Lu Yuan stood and walked out of his training chamber.

The moment he emerged from seclusion, Elder Ji and the others heard about it, and they immediately rushed over. When they felt his powerful aura, their eyes went wide with shock and excitement.

”Congratulations on reaching the Sage Realm, King Lu!” Elder Ji cupped his hands at once, visibly overjoyed. Lu Yuan was the Sage on Earth, and he was on their side. He was also the Celestial Court itself.

The others chimed in one after another, and they all looked as if they had just received a shot of adrenaline. To ensure that Earth wouldn’t be completely overrun by the beings from the Outer Cosmos, Earth needed true powerhouses to protect it during the Great Age.

The Golden-Winged Great Peng, the Spirit Monkey, the Peacock King, and the other beast kings looked at him with deep respect in their eyes. In a sense, Lu Yuan had inscribed their names onto the Investiture Edict, becoming his true subordinates, so their emotions were different from everyone else’s.

”No need for all that.” Lu Yuan smiled and waved them off. He understood their sentiments, so he did not press the matter and shifted the subject instead. ”Elder Ji, Elder Yun, what’s happening outside?”

”We’ve followed your instructions, King Lu. We’ve spread the word that you were gravely injured. They’ve more or less started to believe it. As a result, things have become more chaotic. More and more invaders are descending as we speak.

”By our estimates, there are already a hundred thousand of them on Earth,” Elder Yun replied, laying out everything that had happened in careful detail.

When the beings from the Outer Cosmos caught wind of the news, they began stirring up trouble. Several races and clans had already stepped forward, testing the officials. Some even entertained the idea of moving into the supercities.

The supercities were home to mostly ordinary civilians. While many people had embarked on the path of evolution after the Global Awakening, they still represented only a tiny fraction of the total human population.

The officials were working on a systematic way to help ordinary people become an Awakened. Lu Yuan had proposed that, but it needed enough time to be successful.

The invaders relocating into the supercities meant that they would become a threat to the ordinary people. They were truly despicable.

”King Lu, now that you’ve emerged from seclusion, shall we begin?

”I’ve gathered a great deal of intelligence. I know which beings from the Outer Cosmos have been colluding with certain factions behind the scenes. With the right arrangements, we can immediately deliver a devastating blow to them,” Elder Yun asked, killing intent pooling in his gaze.

It was one thing for invaders to threaten the civilians and destabilize society, but for certain financial consortia and capitalist groups to do the same was simply unforgivable. It was tantamount to a betrayal, as they were supposed to be on their side.

”There’s no rush. It’s still not enough.” Lu Yuan shook his head after hearing the report. ”If we’re going to do this, we’ll do it thoroughly. They do like causing trouble, don’t they? Then, let’s stick to the plan. Keep fanning the flames, make it more convincing, and wait for certain people to come to us.”

”That way, we won’t have to waste time hunting them down. The key here is patience. This is just the beginning, after all.”

His plan was straightforward. He wanted them all to reveal themselves, preferably including the Zhou Family. He never really had the time to deal with them before, so this was the perfect opportunity to eliminate every lingering threat.

His words drew a round of uncertain glances from those around him.

When they thought about it, however, his logic was sound.

The main threats had been identified, but who could say for sure whether there were even more clandestine organizations in the shadows?

The beings from the Outer Cosmos were nothing. What truly mattered were the traitors among their own people. They were the most despicable of all and had to be dealt with sooner rather than later.

”I understand. I know what to do now.” Elder Yun nodded. His temperament was fiery by nature, and he could never tolerate injustice. His years in a position of authority had also given him the ability to read situations clearly.

Striking now could yield some results, but the problem could resurface later.

In other words, solving everything at once was the best approach here.

Elder Ji and the other top officials nodded in agreement to Lu Yuan’s plan. The execution, of course, would be up to them. For people of their caliber, it was nothing particularly difficult. It was just a matter of controlling public opinion.

As the representatives of the nation, they could easily do that.

Moreover, Lu Yuan becoming a Sage had made them even more confident. It was also the best form of reassurance.

”If anything comes up, just let me know.” Lu Yuan smiled, gave a few more instructions, and left the matter in their hands with full confidence.

Afterward, he prepared to return to his training chambers to get used to his newfound power. Having just entered the Sage Realm, he had to consolidate his power so he could unleash his full strength when the time came.

Just as Elder Ji and the others exited the residence, Jiang Ningxian appeared with a faint smile tugging at her lips. ”Lu Yuan, I’ve always thought you were straightforward and direct about everything. I’ve never expected you to be so devious as well.”
