She is the Side Character! — Watch Her Change her fate!

Chapter 351: Chapter 350: Victims Behind the Holographic Reality Show, Part 3

After navigating a difficult path, everyone finally managed to temporarily escape danger. They found a decent spot, exterminated a few zombies, and took refuge inside.

They hadn’t encountered other survivors along the way, but the truth was, it wasn’t time for other survivors to appear yet. This technology was not as perfect as imagined; important NPC roles would appear too rigid if they were solely pre-set, so all were played by real NPCs. Apart from a few program staff and employees from the Wen Group, most of these real NPCs were selected from the audience.

Of course, anyone acting as a real NPC had their memories sealed to avoid slip-ups and prevent the eight guests from noticing anything abnormal.

The audience would never realize that among the eight guests, one carried memories while six others received hints. Only the commissioner was completely kept in the dark as a participant.

No one thought that a parallel world’s apocalyptic future would truly merge with their world. Although at that time, many were too busy escaping to pay attention to this show. Some, after experiencing near-death encounters, finally understood the commissioner’s actions, considering the show to be too childish. Some indeed believed that not giving up would bring luck, and lost their lives because of it.

They forgot that when a true apocalypse merges in, there would be no audience.

The awakening of the guests’ superpowers, their upgrades, all related to the audience’s voting and rewards. But in the real world, everyone was both a participant and an audience, yet without the freedom of choice, forced to move forward by reality.

Benevolence is good, yet in such a world, kindness without strength is a death sentence.

With the doors and windows securely shut, Ah Chen and Lu Yu were tied up in a corner. It was a unanimous decision by the teammates, no matter what, they could not abandon them.

To prevent them from turning into zombies and randomly attacking others, they were tied up first to be handled when the time came.

Now, everyone inside was particularly solemn, all worriedly staring at Ah Chen and Lu Yu.

Wen Chulin crouched beside Ah Chen, his eyes betraying deep affection: ”Bei Chen, no matter what you turn into, I will never abandon you, believe me.”

Unexpectedly, Bei Chen was also hurt. Now in the holographic world, he couldn’t communicate with the outside. Given how many eyes were watching, if any flaws were discovered by the audience, it wouldn’t be good for him or the Wen Family.

He knew well what his senior was like; if his plan were exposed, even if her wings were completely clipped, she would never be with him.

The plan deviated from the start; now it was just a matter of taking one step at a time.

He was unsure if she’d turn into a zombie or awaken a superpower; regardless, he played himself, would always stay by her side, no matter what she became, only he wouldn’t change.

Senior, you can’t escape.

With this thought, Wen Chulin smiled gently at Ah Chen.

[Even with sealed memories, Junior Wen still likes Bei Chen so much, it’s really sweet.]

[This is true love, when you see someone without memories, you still won’t forget the feeling of liking them.]

[But it seems Bei Chen doesn’t like Wen Chulin.]

[So many people are pursuing Bei Chen, she’s probably overwhelmed, and many of them have family backgrounds not inferior to Junior Wen’s.]

[Wasn’t she acting weird around Lu Yu in the last episode? She must be into Lu Yu.]

[But with sealed memories, she doesn’t seem particularly drawn to Lu Yu, proving it’s not genuine affection. Anyway, if she keeps picking and choosing, she might end up with no one, that would be ridiculous.]

[What joke? Did Bei Chen say she has to choose an exceptional man? If she likes someone, does she have to choose? Can’t she decide not to choose? Without those people, she could still manage well with her abilities; some people shouldn’t meddle too much.]

[Some opinions are indeed peculiar, as if by not agreeing, she’s being ungrateful. It’s disgusting to me.]

[Stop worrying, she’s attractive, in a prestigious school, her live streams are thriving, she’s participated in valuable intelligence programs, her future’s brighter than most, not dependent on anyone.]

[Stop bickering, just watch the show well, can’t you? It’s the country’s first show under an apocalypse background, let’s guess the next plot direction, shall we?]

[I’m more concerned now whether Bei Chen and Lu Yu will awaken superpowers or turn into zombies.]

[The guests don’t know it’s fake, they’re probably worried to death now.]

[Now the guests claim they won’t give up, only facing reality will tell what they’ll choose, just wait and see.]

”It’s not just about believing; a turned zombie loses its sanity,” Ah Chen said, ”If that time comes, and you choose not to give up, dying is your choice, dragging others to lose their lives isn’t right.”

Her words somewhat put Wen Chulin on the spot, sounding heartless, but they were true; Wen Chulin really couldn’t find a rebuttal.

[It’s unpleasant, but true.]

[Indeed, Bei Chen is sensible, thinking of the big picture; compared to her, Junior Wen’s vision is narrow, caught up in romance without considering the danger it may pose to teammates.]

Wen Chulin had to control himself vigorously, or his demeanor would have stiffened.

These were the words she could say.

Not pleasant and very irritating.

”You’re concerned about others’ safety, but don’t care about mine?” He bowed his head, his voice somewhat melancholy.

Ah Chen said, ”Didn’t someone prepare to explode my head? Once I turn into a zombie, you blow my head off and won’t face danger from me, at least I won’t threaten you.”

The audience who originally sympathized with Wen Chulin suddenly regained clarity.

[Suddenly find Wen Chulin annoying, like a character dragging the team down.]

[Yes, Bei Chen’s injured, doesn’t know if she’ll become a zombie, facing life and death, yet he’s fussing over whether she cares for him, it’s irritating.]

[I can understand why Bei Chen doesn’t accept his pursuit, this kind of person lacks foresight, being together will certainly lead to continuous troubles.]

[I always knew my beloved had her reasoning for what she does!]

”If you truly turn into a zombie, I won’t implicate others, I’ll take you alone, anyway, I’d never abandon you,” Wen Chulin said with determined eyes.

[Well, as annoying as it is, such devotion is rare.]

Ah Chen said, ”At that time probably no human consciousness will remain, whatever you do, I can’t control. I’ve advised you, if you insist on suffering, I can do nothing. Do you know the saying prevalent in apocalypse-type novels?”

”What is it?” Wen Chulin asked, he genuinely didn’t know.

Ah Chen lightly laughed: ”In apocalypse, first kill the saint.”

Wen Chulin froze, then said: ”Even if I die, as long as I’m by your side, I’ll be willing.”

Ah Chen bowed her head, stopped speaking, is that so?

Then who’s the coward that left the commissioner behind and ran?

Some words shouldn’t be said too firmly, or they might backfire easily.
