Chapter 36: Chapter 36: The Young Master Is a Woman 36

”Impossible!”

Zhou Yuanjia stepped back several steps in fright, his face pale with disbelief. How could it be that Ning’s body is fine?

On their wedding night, he had clearly put contraceptive medicine in her wine. How could it be...

Just now, after Yun Qing and the five doctors invited to the mansion took Ning Yutong’s pulse, they all stated her body was only somewhat weak, but there was no problem with fertility. While they didn’t mention that Zhou Yuanjia was infertile, they subtly reminded everyone that the reason Ning Yutong wasn’t pregnant was Zhou Yuanjia himself.

Zhou Yuanjia furrowed his brows deeply, opened his mouth to say something, but didn’t know what to say. His mind was messy, pondering where exactly things had gone wrong.

Ning was fine, but he had a problem!

He suddenly thought of a possibility. Could it be that on their wedding night, he mistakenly drank the wine with the medicine instead of Ning?

He clenched his teeth tightly, his fist clenched. This was the only possibility. He didn’t think he was naturally infertile, especially since Ning was fine. The likelihood of having taken the wrong cup that night became very high.

”So, which do you choose?” Ning Yutong walked up to Zhou Yuanjia, lifting her chin charmingly, ”Do I divorce you, or do you accept the fact you can’t have children, and then I take a male concubine to give birth?”

”Ning, how can you be so unvirtuous? Have you no shame?” Zhou Yuanjia was furious. There was no way he would allow Ning to take a male concubine. That would humiliate both him and the entire Weian Earl Mansion.

He couldn’t afford to lose face like that.

The Weian Earl Mansion couldn’t afford it either.

If they really allowed Ning to take a male concubine, they didn’t know how long they’d be mocked. It might even be recorded in history, pinning them to a pillar of shame, and people hundreds of years later would laugh at them.

”Isn’t it because you can’t have children? Otherwise, why would I suggest this? You call this shameless, but what about you climbing the walls of your concubine’s house and spending nights with her? What is that then?” Ning Yutong mocked, ”Isn’t that even more shameless? Your actions have put all men in the world to shame. Can’t have children, yet fooling around. In the future, marrying might be a tough task for you.”

What concubine? It’s just because Ning occupies the main wife’s position that his cousin is aggrieved.

So she knew everything? How scheming!

Zhou Yuanjia’s eyes were bloodshot with rage. He shouted, charging towards Ning Yutong, about to slap her hard across the face.

Slap—

Ah Chen casually slapped Zhou Yuanjia, sending him flying into the porcelain behind him. It shattered immediately, and he rolled on the ground twice before stopping. His body was pierced by porcelain shards, and he grimaced in pain.

”Son!” The Countess hurried over, ”Son, are you alright? You’re bleeding. Doctor Li, everyone please come and check on Yuanjia to see if any vital areas are injured.”

Doctor Li and the others exchanged glances, waiting as Zhou Yuanjia was helped to one side, then surrounded him to examine his injuries.

Today was truly a farce.

Uncle Wei An’s face was livid, ”Prince Ning, no matter what, it is not right to hit someone in my mansion, correct? Don’t think that just because you are the Heir of Prince Ning and favored by His Majesty, you can run amok. The current Emperor is a fair person. If he knows of your actions, he will not tolerate your misconduct.”

”Today, if you do not give an explanation, I may have to make a scene in front of the Emperor.”

Ah Chen looked back, ”Uncle Wei An, just now, everyone here saw that it was your son who rushed over to attack my sister. As her younger brother, I only returned a slap to protect my sister and didn’t take further action. I was afraid I couldn’t keep your sister from getting hurt, so I might have been a bit heavy handed.”

She sat down, gently fanning herself with a folding fan.

Clearly she was seated, while Uncle Wei An was standing, yet her aura somehow surpassed his.

”The Emperor is indeed a fair man and will certainly clarify both the cause and the effect,” Ah Chen glanced at Zhou Yuanjia’s bloodied face, ”Considering humanity, I should probably pay for the medical fees. I have the best doctors who can heal your son. However, if he jumps again to attack my sister, I might strike even harder than before.”

”When shall we enter the palace to see the Emperor?”

”Just as well, we can request a divorce decree from the Emperor.”

Uncle Wei An’s cheeks twitched with hatred but calmed down quickly. Making a scene at the palace would not benefit the Weian Earl Mansion. As Ning Zhen said, out of compassion, at most, they’ll only have to pay some medical bills. And given the other party is close to the Emperor, and the incident with Yuanjia was to protect his sister, they might even get reprimanded.

No good could come of it, definitely no good.

He didn’t have any leverage on Ning Zhen at the moment, really leaving him with no option.

”I agree to Yuanjia and Ning’s separation, from now on owing each other nothing and going our separate ways.” Uncle Wei An took a deep breath, unwilling to continue entangling.

Ning Zhen was as the rumors said: ruthless, difficult, and once bitten, never let go.

Continuing on might lead to unpredictable events. It would be better to sever ties with the Prince Ning Mansion early.

”No separation, only a divorce decree.” Ah Chen took the divorce decree from Ning Yutong’s hand, casually sending it in front of Uncle Wei An. He was unwilling to accept, but the divorce decree nestled firmly into his lapel, and he couldn’t stop it.

Uncle Wei An had some martial skills, not low even, yet he couldn’t stop a small divorce decree, making him both angry and surprised.

He took the divorce decree forcefully, intending to tear it up.

He wouldn’t recognize that divorce decree.

”If you don’t recognize it, this matter will have to be taken up with the Emperor.” Ah Chen smiled faintly, quietly watching him, as if saying, that would be even more embarrassing.

Uncle Wei An’s act of tearing the divorce decree stopped, his body trembling in anger.

In the end, he didn’t manage to tear up the divorce decree.

”Let’s finish the remaining formalities today.” Ah Chen said, ”You wouldn’t want me to come a second time either.”

Uncle Wei An realized the situation was lost; the more he struggled, the more disgraceful it would be, so he agreed.

Zhou Yuanjia, however, was unwilling. Despite the pain, he jumped up and shouted, ”I won’t acknowledge that divorce decree.”

”Aren’t you eager to be with Miss Cheng? Now it should be as you wished. I suppose the Earl Mansion won’t pressure you to marry a wife anymore. Why are you so unresigned?” Ah Chen’s gaze passed through the crowd, looking towards Zhou Yuanjia who was being held, ”One can’t have it both ways.”

”Besides, you can’t have children, so don’t hold back my sister. Unless you’re willing to share a wife with others?”

Ning Yutong curled her lip disdainfully and said, ”Better not. He’s been cavorting with a concubine, so he’s not clean. Having such a careless main husband might set a bad example for future children, causing trouble.”

”Ning Yutong, don’t go too far!” Zhou Yuanjia was so angry, he was dizzy and couldn’t express his anger in words, only screaming incoherently. All the anger and humiliation he felt in his life didn’t add up to what he experienced today.

To be honest, he had never been humiliated like this before!

”Take Yuanjia away.” Uncle Wei An waved his hand. Continuing this hassle might drive Yuanjia crazy. Better to quickly break off with Ning.

He was already considering having another son, having several daughters but only Yuanjia as his son. Originally, apart from the issue with Cheng Lingqing, Yuanjia had been very promising. Plus, he wasn’t fortunate with sons, and forcing it wouldn’t work either.

Yuanjia couldn’t have children, so he, as the father, had to continue trying.
