She is the Side Character! — Watch Her Change her fate!

Chapter 27: Chapter 27: The Princely Heir Is a Woman 27

”Your Majesty, news just came in that Prince Ning is heading towards Chenghua Hall.” Hou Rongfa panted as he spoke to Ye Ji, sweat still on his face indicating his haste.

He secretly glanced at the quietly being renovated palace not far away, his cheek twitching involuntarily. This place was secluded, but its surroundings were rather serene.

The late Emperor was indifferent to women, and there weren’t many in the harem at that time.

Your Majesty even less considered such matters, so many palaces in the Imperial Palace remained empty.

Now there is someone by His Majesty’s side, unlikely to stay long within the Imperial Palace. If they were to come, it would most likely be to live directly in Chenghua Hall where His Majesty resides.

However, besides instructing him to arrange Chenghua Hall, His Majesty today also asked him to find a secluded palace for renovation. Initially, he thought this was being prepared for Prince Ning, even though the other party was not a concubine. With His Majesty’s focus on this, refurbishing a palace seemed quite normal.

About half an hour later, he received His Majesty’s renovation requirements for this palace.

Thinking about the contents, Hou Rongfa’s legs trembled.

The renovation dictated by His Majesty was not meant for living; it was clearly for confinement.

He was not wrong in his assumption; indeed, the palace was prepared for Prince Ning.

For this, Hou Rongfa could only silently hope in his heart that Prince Ning would not be fickle in the future, or else His Majesty would be very upset. If Prince Ning insisted on angering His Majesty, this currently reinforcing palace would be his destiny.

Ye Ji slowly shifted his gaze away from the palace’s location and said leisurely, ”Let’s hope it never has to be used.”

”That person will not disappoint me, will they?”

Hou Rongfa: ”...”

How could he dare to respond to this?

”Keep your mouth shut.” Ye Ji threw out this sentence, then started walking towards Chenghua Hall, pressing his wildly beating heart; his steps quickened.

Such a significant matter tonight.

Cannot let that person wait long.

Feeling Ye Ji’s coldness replace with joy, Hou Rongfa sighed and quickly caught up.

As Ah Chen stepped into Chenghua Hall, she discovered it had been reorganized, with decorations, furnishings, and furniture all replaced.

Furthermore, it was changed to her liking.

Take these two bonsai, for instance; they actually had bamboo planted in them. Within a half day’s time, the action was swift. But it was evident that the bamboo was transplanted into the pots from elsewhere, and although those doing it were adept in flora management, the bamboo didn’t look as spirited as in its original location.

Fortunately, she encountered them.

She was very knowledgeable in caring for bamboo.

Ah Chen instructed someone to fetch a watering can; the Chenghua Hall staff seemed to have been instructed without hesitation, lightly responding and hurriedly fetching it.

[Host, do you have nothing to say to me?] 997 remained silent for a long time, finally unable to bear it, especially seeing the host about to win over the Emperor of this world. It was getting unbearable.

Ah Chen accepted the watering can handed to her by the palace attendant and asked internally, [What’s wrong with finding a companion to spend life with?]

This stumped 997, as there really was nothing wrong.

Before completing a transaction with the Commissioner, and confirming the Commissioner could never return to this world, the host preferred not to take that sliver of luck from the Commissioner, valuing ownership of the body more. Coming into this world, the host had complete usage rights of the body, along with the majority of the Commissioner’s memories, though those concerning privacy remained sealed.

[Host, be honest—isn’t it that you wished to find a companion in a small world from the start, thus made early preparations?]

Ah Chen watered the bamboo, and though perhaps an illusion, she felt it seemed more vibrant after watering.

But 997’s mind was fixated on the host’s dual nature and paid no mind to anything else.

[Not at all.] Ah Chen replied.

Before 997 could ask again, she proactively explained, [If the Commissioner indeed doesn’t return, I hope to gain full ownership each time. My task is simply to help fulfill wishes; as long as this goal is met. Originally, the Commissioner couldn’t return anyway; severing ties with the body benefited me more.]

[I just dislike being yelled at while doing tasks, insisting it’s their body, be careful, don’t behave erratically. It’s irritating! Agree and continue the transaction, or forget it. Actually, not taking their luck benefits them; the smart Commissioner knows how to choose.]

Ah Chen bowed her head; she truly wasn’t mild-mannered.

But one must retain some decorum, or they’ll easily scare newcomers.

She has her style, facing particular situations in past small worlds, she might act seemingly excessively.

For instance, once, she merely stabbed herself a few times. The Commissioner couldn’t take it, kept murmuring beside her, likely deeming harm to the body unfavorable.

But she was aware, only wanting the task to be more perfect.

Ultimately, the task outcome was indeed perfect.

Such circumstances arose more than once, doing them frequently created annoyance.

A Commissioner seeking a missionary’s help should prepare, as every choice entails risks. Compared with some missionaries, regardless of her process, the task always concludes perfectly.

To avoid encountering disagreeable Commissioners, she always planned ahead.

Lessening their ties to the body allows her free reign in actions. Meanwhile, they need only sit in the waiting room, sipping tea, munching snacks, chatting with other Commissioners while awaiting results.

What a perfect arrangement.

She indeed considered for the Commissioners’ benefit.

[Host, are you really a newbie?] 997 posed the most desired question, [Why does it feel like you’re experienced?]

If not for maintaining composure—being a mature and emotionally stable system—he’d really want to loudly shout, how could this be?

Ah Chen’s eyebrows curved: [Does it matter?]

[We are first-time bound, both newbies to each other.]

Darn! Once again convinced.

Yet internally, 997 was certain the host wasn’t a newbie; how could a newbie execute tasks so adeptly? Previously, he hadn’t idled, having reviewed recent events, keeping task-related details accessible.

He misjudged.

But after reconsidering, perhaps he bound a mogul? And it’s permanent, which wasn’t bad?

[If you feel I’m not a newbie, didn’t experience mentoring one, you can find opportunities to contract actual newbies. But don’t deceive; dishonesty makes a bad system, risking backlash, luck isn’t always good, you must clarify matters.]

What? 997 was amazed; how did the host know his thoughts?

The host seemed difficult, surely won’t act against him?

[Little Seven, we are destined.] Ah Chen told 997; sensing his emotional transparency, she easily discerned his thoughts.

[Thank you, speaking of which.] Ah Chen added; certainly, her smile was more sincere while saying this.

Detecting someone approaching, she said, [Tonight, there’s business to attend, screening you out; let you out tomorrow.]

Still processing these words, 997 suddenly faced screening, having nearly understood but remained unclear.

Why did the host thank him?

Additionally, she needn’t worry; even without screening, he would self-screen, would never spy on host’s privacy.

He was merely competitive, not voyeuristic.

Ye Ji hurriedly arrived, seeing Ah Chen tending to those two pots of bamboo.
