Chapter 18: Chapter 18: The Princely Heir Is a Woman 18

”Given the current situation at Prince Ning Mansion, I have no immediate thoughts of marriage. I trouble Matchmaker Li to return this message to Marquis Chengrui.”

With Ah Chen’s words, Qing Zhu presented two large silver ingots, which made Matchmaker Li’s eyes widen.

To receive two large silver ingots without success was indeed a bit embarrassing. But Matchmaker Li was no fool; she sensed Prince Ning still had more to say.

Sure enough, Ah Chen added, ”In the future, if anyone approaches you, please refuse them all on my behalf.”

”Yes, yes... Prince Ning can rest assured.” Matchmaker Li replied with a beaming smile, holding the silver ingots as she departed.

Initially, Matchmaker Li brought up the topic of the youngest daughter of Marquis Chengrui.

Ah Chen didn’t take it to heart.

The next day, another well-known matchmaker from the Capital City came just as Ah Chen was about to leave.

Just like the previous day, she sent the person away without concern, responding with ease. Given the current circumstances at Prince Ning Mansion, logically, the two families she refused shouldn’t be considered.

”Young Master seems to have a bit of luck with romantic interests lately, and all of them are quite good.” Even the dignified and serious Ying Fang couldn’t help making a quip, ”There might be more to come.”

”It’s probably related to Young Master supporting several young ladies.”

Many people believe Prince Ning Mansion lacks prospects. After all, Ning Zhen is merely a princely heir without any official position, and whether he can inherit the title depends on those above.

But aside from these, the fact that Prince Ning supports his sisters already outshines most men, which inevitably moves the hearts of many young ladies. Those with foresight would notice that this Prince Ning is extraordinary, unlike Prince Ning. The current Majesty can indeed be ruthless and decisive, but as long as one doesn’t provoke him and cross his boundaries, life remains quite good. If one can showcase talent, the future is limitless.

”Ying Fang, are you envious?” Ah Chen glanced at her with a smile, ”Do you want me to share some with you?”

”I’ve received countless beauties, both male and female. Which type do you prefer?” Ah Chen asked seriously, as if waiting for Ying Fang to respond, and that a beauty matching her taste would be waiting in her room that night.

Ying Fang shivered slightly, wondering what inappropriate thoughts were in her mind.

She maintained a serious face, yet her face was completely flushed.

”What’s there to be shy about,” Ah Chen leaned closer to observe Ying Fang’s flushed cheeks, ”If you are so easily shy, how will you resist if someone tries to bribe you with beauty?”

”Young Master, please stop joking with your subordinate.” Ying Fang couldn’t handle it any longer; how could the Young Master tease her like this? Fortunately, no one was watching, or her authority would have vanished entirely.

Ah Chen sat back down, her expression slightly more serious, though her smile remained, ”I’m not joking. If you truly have thoughts, I can mediate for you. Whether it’s marrying or bringing a husband into the family, it’s possible.”

”Even if it comes to that, it must be bringing a husband into the family.” Ying Fang said without thinking, ”It would be best if he could be of use to the Young Master.”

Realizing what she’d said, she quickly turned her head away.

”Fine, then bring a husband into the family.” Ah Chen rested her chin on her hand, ”No worries, just move around more below, you might encounter someone you like.”

”Ying Fang truly cares for me, even when bringing a husband into the family, she doesn’t forget to choose someone useful for me.”

Ying Fang was expressionless.

She couldn’t win the argument.

Seeing Ah Chen’s smiling face, Ying Fang remembered something and suddenly asked, ”Has the Young Master considered her own lifelong matters while meddling in her subordinate’s?”

The Young Master disguised herself as a man, which is deceiving the Emperor.

Ying Fang showed some worry; this matter couldn’t be exposed.

Therefore, the Young Master couldn’t consider lifelong matters and could only be alone forever.

But Ah Chen didn’t mind, comforting her, ”Don’t overthink it.”

She’s doing quite well.

Let alone being alone forever, she didn’t even know how many years she had been by herself. Alone in the vast world, without any living creature, frightfully silent, who else would have such an experience?

A mortal’s lifetime at most spans a century, it’s quite short.

Besides, in this small world, she doesn’t seem to be alone for a lifetime.

”If the Young Master feels lonely and happens to fancy someone, why not capture them and keep them?” Ying Fang suddenly suggested, perhaps realizing it wasn’t a good method, she added, ”Perhaps you could first ask if they are willing to live like this, if they are, bring them back, it’s not considered coercion.”

Ah Chen burst into laughter, ”Ying Fang, you’re so wicked.”

”You seem so serious, yet there lives a little deviant inside you.”

Ying Fang looked innocent, ”...”

She truly was considering this for the Young Master!

Ah Chen rested her chin on her hand, her gaze wandering, ”I have indeed taken a fancy to someone.”

”Who might it be?” Ying Fang leaned closer to ask, ”If the Young Master likes them, I will handle this matter.”

First inquire, if they don’t agree, then entice them with silver.

If that doesn’t work, she would investigate their preferences and weaknesses; having leverage would be even better.

She could surely find a breakthrough to invite the person for the Young Master.

Seeing Ying Fang’s serious look, Ah Chen knew what was on her mind, lightly snorting, she beckoned her over, ”Come closer, and I’ll tell you.”

Ying Fang leaned in.

Ah Chen whispered in her ear, ”It’s the one on the dragon throne; do you think you can bring them over?”

Ying Fang stumbled backward, and Ah Chen swiftly caught her. Oh, she had startled her good guardian.

”Young Master, bringing that one might be a bit challenging.” Ying Fang said with a distressed face, she wasn’t that capable.

The Young Master dared to dream big indeed.

However, the Young Master did have high standards.

Indeed, in all of Beixia, who could compare to that one? Even emperors through the ages couldn’t compare.

Not to mention other aspects, that one held a high status and was untainted, no wonder the Young Master fancied him.

”Young Master, the Imperial Palace is full of experts. If I go in, I fear I might not be able to come out.” Ying Fang said seriously, ”Maybe after another ten years of training, I could give it a try.”

Yet, she still felt the odds of bringing the person out weren’t great.

”Alright, there’s no need for you in this matter; I have my own plans.”

Ying Fang felt a bit panicked; could the Young Master be following Prince Ning’s old path to seize the throne first and then capture the beauty?

Why not?

Ah Chen paid no mind to the wandering Ying Fang, her thoughts turning to Commissioner elder sister Ning Yulan’s side.

The situation with Ning Yulan wasn’t urgent, so dealing with it now wouldn’t be difficult; how it would be handled depended on Ning Yulan’s thoughts.

”Twelfth Uncle, what rare occasion brings you to the palace; what might be the matter?” Ye Ji scanned the burly middle-aged man laughing heartily below, someone to whom he was relatively close and who supported him.

Ye Hong laughed heartily, his voice like thunder.

”I’ve come today just to confirm something, and once confirmed, I can rest easy and arrange for it.”

Ye Ji’s curiosity was piqued; it was rare to see Twelfth Uncle like this.

”It’s just that I wanted to ask, what does Your Majesty think of Ning Zhen?” Ye Hong eagerly rubbed his hands, not waiting for Ye Ji to ask further, he hurriedly blurted out, ”Isn’t it about my Juejue? She thinks Ning Zhen is good, but Prince Ning Mansion is complex, and seeing that His Majesty hasn’t expressed other intentions, I came specially to ask if it’s advisable.”

The matter of Prince Ning wanting to rebel, Ye Hong naturally knew.

If His Majesty were to still settle accounts with Prince Ning Mansion, no matter how much Juejue liked that Ning Zhen, it couldn’t be considered.

It’s just a bit of a pity, Ning Zhen was indeed not bad; leaving other things aside, he approved of his character.

Ye Ji: ”...”

The veins on his forehead bulged one by one as he tried to suppress the churn within, his expression remaining calm, not letting Ye Hong see anything.

Next to him, Hou Rongfa twitched his mouth, this Prince Kang, what a sin.

Recently His Majesty had been in a good mood for a rare occasion, but now it was hard to say how long he’d be upset.

”What does Your Majesty think of this? There are quite a few outside interested in Ning Zhen, if it’s feasible, I’ll act quickly; such a good person must be my Juejue’s.” Ye Hong was eager.

Ye Ji gritted his teeth, his dark eyes stared at the excited man below.

He felt it was not suitable.

Particularly unsuitable.

If anyone, that person couldn’t even be his, then absolutely no one else’s!
