She is the Side Character! — Watch Her Change her fate!

Chapter 19: Chapter 19: The Princely Heir Is a Woman 19

Alas!

Ye Hong walked out of the main hall with a sigh. Just from Your Majesty’s mention of Ning Zhen with a dark expression, without needing further explanation, he understood that Prince Kang Mansion should not associate with Ning Zhen.

What a pity.

It’s still the fault of Prince Ning. If he had been honest, their two families would undoubtedly be the perfect in-laws.

Ye Hong shook his head and slowly walked out of the palace, pondering how to comfort his daughter upon his return.

In the main hall, it was so quiet that the drop of a pin could be clearly heard.

Hou Rongfa stood hunched to one side, secretly observing the Emperor, who was flipping through the memorial on the dragon throne. Anticipating a scene where restraint might fail, he had discreetly sent the people inside the hall away just moments ago, allowing Your Majesty to vent freely.

He was acutely aware that Your Majesty must be very angry at this moment.

”Bang—”

Here it comes.

Upon hearing the sound of the teacup smashing onto the ground, Hou Rongfa felt a sense of relief. Rather than Your Majesty suppressing his anger within, it’s better to see him vent it out so as not to harm his health.

Indeed, why does Your Majesty have to wrong himself so?

This liking for men or women is beyond one’s control. Your Majesty is the Emperor; why restrain himself? Bringing someone close is all he needs. Throughout history, no Emperor has wronged himself in such a way. Even if the other party is unwilling, no one would dare to criticize the Emperor.

Your Majesty suffers here, yet the other person knows nothing, Hou Rongfa sighed softly.

Previously, Your Majesty warned him not to privately seek out Prince Ning, so he refrained.

However, he collected news about Prince Ning daily, ready with information should Your Majesty inquire.

Upon learning more about Prince Ning, he felt Your Majesty was truly too wronged.

While Your Majesty battles restraint here, the beauties around Prince Ning remain uninterrupted, accepting anyone who comes. Thinking of this, Hou Rongfa grew increasingly unwilling.

”Prince Ning is not worth Your Majesty’s trouble, don’t let your health suffer.”

Ye Ji paused with the pen in his hand, quickly resuming action without acknowledging Hou Rongfa, as the coldness on his otherwise emotionless face deepened.

The news of that person always reached him in various ways. Unexpectedly, he was quite popular.

Even his Twelfth Uncle was tempted, wanting that person as a son-in-law.

He didn’t yet know what was good about Ning Zhen, having hardly interacted with him, only recognizing his intelligence and protection over Prince Ning Mansion’s girls, with little else understood. It’s not that he couldn’t understand, but that he intentionally avoided knowing.

Yet somehow, he spent days and nights obsessing over someone he knew so little about, like madness.

He didn’t know how long he could continue to restrain himself.

His patience was nearing its limit, and when it ran out, he couldn’t predict what might occur.

His well-defined fingers tightly gripped the pen, veins bulging on the back of his hand. With closed eyes, Ye Ji casually tossed the pen aside, spilling ink blossoms rebelliously onto the desk.

”You talk too much.” he said.

The voice was cold, devoid of any noticeable irregularity.

Yet Hou Rongfa could sense that, beneath the calm surface, a slight spark could ignite and explode rapidly.

”Your Majesty, this humble servant dares to report a few things,” Hou Rongfa prostrated on the ground, ”Prince Ning truly isn’t worth Your Majesty’s efforts, while Your Majesty endures here, that person receives beauties one after another...”

A cold gaze descended upon his head, causing Hou Rongfa to break into a cold sweat.

Unable to bear seeing Your Majesty suffer in this way, he felt being the Emperor meant not needing to wrong oneself for others.

By revealing the truth, if Your Majesty genuinely no longer cares about Ning Zhen, it would be ideal, never having seen anyone impact him so greatly. Nobody should influence Your Majesty, which would be good.

Even failing to forget, at least not wronging oneself would be desirable.

In Hou Rongfa’s heart, Your Majesty was paramount. For Your Majesty, he would throw himself into fire without hesitation.

”What did you say?” After a long pause, Ye Ji’s unruffled voice emerged.

Inside, turbulent waves roiled fiercely.

Hou Rongfa relayed the latest news, daring not to look up, quietly awaiting the Emperor’s response above.

”Ha!”

Hou Rongfa’s body shivered unwillingly, clenching his teeth, he added: ”Thus Your Majesty need not dwell upon this person.”

”Prince Ning has countless beauties around him, utterly unworthy.”

Ye Ji’s deep gaze turned towards the main hall doors, as if piercing through obstacles to behold scenes at Prince Ning Mansion. Though unseen, he imagined courtyards filled with beauties residing within.

Both men and women!

Ning Zhen is something.

While he restrained himself here, worried his thoughts might frighten and deter them from revealing his intentions lest he harm them.

But the outcome?

Ning Zhen did not refuse beauties others delivered, indulging in unknown debauchery behind closed doors.

”Your Majesty, remain calm, there are many better than Prince Ning out there.” Hou Rongfa rushed to add, ”With a single edict, there are many willing to accompany Your Majesty.”

Ye Ji issued a cold laugh, eyes filled with indifference.

”Summon Ning Zhen here.”

Since Ning Zhen does not shy away from men and women, why should he continue to restrain himself?

If Ning Zhen can entertain those beauties, why not obediently stay by his side?

So long as Ning Zhen obeys, he won’t wrong him.

Hou Rongfa was briefly stunned before quickly complying. This outcome wasn’t what he most desired, yet Your Majesty, being the Emperor, seeking his desires was justified, better than suppression.

”What did that person do today?” Ye Ji spontaneously queried.

He rarely asked about Ning Zhen, though aware of his busy routines, thus the inquiry was merely casual with no ulterior motive.

Hou Rongfa was definitively informed.

Indeed, Hou Rongfa replied: ”This morning Prince Ning visited Duke An’s Mansion, the family of Prince Ning Mansion’s eldest daughter.”

Ye Ji knew of this; Ning Yulan was married to Duke An’s youngest son Yuan Bingjun, who was dearly beloved being Duke An’s child in old age. He also recalled another matter; Ning Yulan had been married into Duke An’s Mansion for nearly ten years without offspring.

Initially unfamiliar with such details, not for these, following attention on Prince Ning Mansion’s girls led to simple acquaintance with their conditions.

”Once Ning Zhen departs Duke An’s Mansion, summon him.” Ye Ji left the note and resumed reading memorials.

Hou Rongfa could only respond affirmatively.

This mindset Your Majesty currently held certainly should not be exposed.

Duke An’s Mansion.

Ah Chen met Ning Yulan.

While chatting with Ning Yulan, a maid delivered a bowl of black concoction: ”Fifth Young Madam, the medicine has arrived. Madam said the Third Miss helped procure this prescription; whether it works will be evident after one month of consumption.”

”Quickly drink it while hot, as it will taste bitter when cold. There are preserved fruits here to follow; eating one after drinking the medicine will quickly forgo discomfort,” the maid respectfully placed the medicine bowl before Ning Yulan.

Smiling at Ah Chen, Ning Yulan accepted the bowl. Despite her gentle appearance, she downed the medicine in one go, revealing unexpected forthrightness and boldness.
