She is the Side Character! — Watch Her Change her fate!

Chapter 9: Chapter 9: The Princely Heir Is a Woman 9

”What is Madam thinking about?” Li Bianxing asked, a smile playing on his lips as he held Ning Yuwan’s hand to reassure her, ”Are you worried about your father?”

Ning Yuwan withdrew her gaze from the carriage window and met Li Bianxing’s gentle eyes, feeling a slight warmth in her heart. She made a sound of agreement, though the sincerity of her response was known only to herself.

They say a father’s love is like a mountain, but in her eyes, her father was just a mountain, never showing affection. The day she learned that her father had gone mad, she wasn’t all that sad, but she didn’t dare to show it. She feigned concern outwardly, even arranging for someone to visit him, and when her husband had time, he accompanied her to visit the Prince Mansion once.

The doctor said that her father’s physical condition was still good, but the madness might be hard to recover from.

In her father’s eyes, daughters were just tools to consolidate power. As long as it was advantageous for him, it didn’t matter who they married.

Like her second sister, if Ah Zhen hadn’t visited, she might have died from one of the beatings. She knew a bit about her second sister’s situation but couldn’t do anything. Her father didn’t care, so what could she do? Hadn’t her second sister sought help from their father? She had. But what did he do? He sent her sister back and advised her to listen to her husband’s family without being willful or causing trouble.

With her father’s attitude, what reservations could the Jiang Family have?

In her opinion, her father’s madness was a good thing, extremely good.

Thinking of her husband, Ning Yuwan felt fortunate. When she initially got married, she was anxious, the fear of the future was indescribable, but she was fortunate to meet a good man.

”Madam need not worry. This time, we’re going to the temple with sincere prayers; father-in-law will surely recover soon.” Li Bianxing consoled her.

The Li Family was once considered an ally of Prince Ning, but they didn’t partake in the Ping Mountain Hunting Ground affair. If Prince Ning had succeeded, the Li Family would undoubtedly have supported him, and if he hadn’t, they would have acted as if nothing happened.

Initially believing that Prince Ning had gone mad and the Prince Ning Mansion was finished, it turned out that the seemingly unremarkable Ning Zhen had some tricks up his sleeve, causing such chaos at the Jiang Family. Outsiders didn’t believe it was all due to Ning Zhen; mainly, Jiang Changtong’s own unruliness displeased that person, giving them a chance to deal with him.

Li Bianxing did not pay much attention to his brother-in-law; the last time was probably just a coincidence. Jiang Weiming couldn’t escape his predicament, and the other party might not care for their sisters. Otherwise, why only act now, when there had been no previous concern?

The carriage slowly advanced along the mountain road. After an unknown period, it suddenly stopped, causing Ning Yuwan to almost stumble. Li Bianxing, quick-eyed and quick-handed, steadied her.

The two exchanged a glance, both a little puzzled.

”I’ll go see what’s going on.” Li Bianxing patted Ning Yuwan’s wrist, ”Madam, stay here, no need to worry.”

Li Bianxing picked up his sword, lifted the carriage curtain, and before he could react, someone held a knife to his throat and pulled him out.

Inside the carriage, Ning Yuwan heard Li Bianxing’s voice from outside, ”Brave men, whatever silver you want is fine, just spare me and my wife. Even if you only let my wife go, you can do as you please with me.”

Ning Yuwan was startled. Before she could feel moved by Li Bianxing’s words, someone had already barged into the carriage...

After an indeterminate time, Ning Yuwan awoke. Previously, when the mountain bandits barged into the carriage, she had been knocked unconscious. Li Bianxing lay beside her, still unconscious. Both were bound hand and foot, and their mouths were gagged. She could only hum and move around with effort, trying to awaken Li Bianxing.

Perhaps her movements were too loud, as Li Bianxing also woke up.

Their eyes met, and Li Bianxing gave her a reassuring look, yet it had no effect.

Ning Yuwan was filled with sorrow. Were she and her husband doomed to be harmed today? At least they hadn’t killed her husband outright, she thought, which was some comfort. But pondering the potential ordeal filled her with despair.

Bang——

The door suddenly swung open, jolting Ning Yuwan, as a masked man entered, causing her to tremble with fear.

”What a pretty little damsel.”

The masked man glanced at Li Bianxing, ”And that pale-faced fellow is your husband? He looks so pathetic. Can such a cowardly wretch make a lady happy?”

”Furious? Angry? No use getting mad; I just enjoy watching you pale-faced losers being useless.”

The masked man’s words were laced with insult, and Li Bianxing’s face flushed with redness. His mouth was gagged, preventing him from speaking, but anyone could tell it was from anger.

Hidden on the beam, Ah Chen could clearly see that Li Bianxing was excited, his reddened eyes full of anticipation, with no trace of anger.

The despairing Ning Yuwan naturally did not notice.

Beside Ah Chen, Ying Fang was shocked. Li Bianxing was actually a cuckold? There were many with strange fetishes in the Capital City, and, as a guard of the Prince Mansion, she had heard plenty, but this was the first time witnessing it firsthand.

Revolting.

Below, the masked man had already taken off his outer garment but kept his face masked, approaching Ning Yuwan. He kept spewing humiliation towards Li Bianxing, yet Li Bianxing was excited and expectant, making his usually cultured face appear utterly sordid.

As the masked man was about to make his next move, the door was suddenly kicked open by Ah Chen.

She had first swung down from the beam before kicking the door open.

The masked man and Li Bianxing both hadn’t reacted when Ah Chen drew her sword towards the masked man, shouting, ”You damned bandit, dare to abduct a decent woman! Luckily, I sensed something amiss and followed. Otherwise...”

She glanced at Ning Yuwan’s position, ”Otherwise, my sister would have been in trouble today.”

The masked man didn’t want to fight; given his current position, winning would be fine, but losing would spell utter ruin.

How could he have known Ah Chen was specifically targeting him?

With a flash of cold light, Ah Chen swung her sword, a trick to divert attention, the masked man defending the upper area, neglecting other vital spots.

”Aaaah——”

The masked man screamed in agony, his vital part injured, rendering him completely powerless, writhing in pain on the floor, continuously screaming and rolling in a pool of blood.

”Where’s the dog?” Ah Chen asked outside the door, ”I remember bringing a dog along.”

”Young Master, the dog is here.” Ying Fang brought in a large wolfdog. Smelling the blood, it quickly approached.

The room fell silent...

After a while.

Ah Chen gently stroked the head of the large wolfdog beside her, the dog obediently wagged its tail, as tame as could be, its eyes so gentle one would doubt that the fierce wolfdog from before was the same creature.

”Xiaoguai, I’m sorry,” Ah Chen said, instructing Ying Fang, ”Quickly bring out something for Xiaoguai to eat to cleanse the unpleasant taste.”

The masked man on the ground, in pain and on the verge of fainting, felt a mix of anger and humiliation, yet couldn’t utter a word.

The large wolfdog was named Ning Xiaoguai, a name hardly fitting its demeanor.
