She is the Side Character! — Watch Her Change her fate!

Chapter 29: Chapter 29: The Princely Heir Is a Woman 29 (Bonus Chapter)

”Why haven’t you left yet?”

”Go and rest.”

Watching the back of his beloved disappear, Ye Ji stood there for a while before entering the hall, unable to control the joy that permeated his whole being. His usually serious and indifferent face now carried a hint of a smile.

Now, his mind was filled with her. From the beginning, he couldn’t let go, and now, even more so.

They had only been apart for a short while, but his heart was already anticipating their next meeting.

She said she had matters to attend to, and the place she was going was a bit far. She wasn’t sure if she could make it back the same day. If she could, she would come to the palace to see him; if not, then she wouldn’t be able to come. If possible, it would be wonderful to be with her all the time.

A faint sense of loss swept over Ye Ji’s heart. People are indeed greedy, wanting more even after gaining something.

Unable to sleep, he noticed Hou Rongfa who had entered with him, leading to his earlier question.

Hou Rongfa hesitated, wanting to ask something but not daring to.

The person before him was the Emperor. Could he really ask, ”Your Majesty, are you the one on the bottom?”

”Speak up if you have something to say.” Although he felt a bit lost, Ye Ji was more at ease and cheerful, ”Everyone in Chenghua Hall is rewarded, and you will receive three times the reward.”

He pretended not to notice Hou Rongfa’s preparation of ointment and eyebrow raising books, as the man was doing it out of concern for him. He wasn’t someone who confused right and wrong.

Hou Rongfa hurriedly thanked him, but still felt very conflicted.

”What exactly is the matter?” Ye Ji frowned. After knowing Hou Rongfa for so many years, he had never seen him so hesitant.

Could it be that something major had happened, and he was afraid of ruining his mood by saying it?

”Get on with it.”

No matter how big the issue, it couldn’t possibly spoil his good mood. Ever since he became Emperor, he had gone through rough situations before, hadn’t he overcome them all? He didn’t believe that anything happening now could be worse than the toughest of times.

If something has occurred, then handle it.

He just happened to be unable to sleep, and since it was unclear whether Ah Chen could return during the day, he took the opportunity to swiftly handle the matters at hand and make some time available.

Now, he was not alone anymore.

Hou Rongfa knew that if he didn’t speak up, he would truly anger His Majesty, so he asked cautiously, ”Is Your Majesty feeling any discomfort?”

It wasn’t unreasonable for him to ask because the one who came out first was Prince Ning. He had observed that the man was calm, with light steps, looking no different from when he entered the palace. He even mentioned having tasks to do, clearly not resting for the day. It really didn’t seem like he was the one on the bottom. If there was any difference, he looked even more attractive, with a faint redness lingering at the corner of his eyes, adding a touch of allure.

It was unexpected; the one who seemed to be on the bottom wasn’t actually on the bottom.

Hou Rongfa suddenly sensed a chilled gaze, making his legs tremble, nearly slapping himself. What was he thinking?

It wasn’t that he wanted to ask, but he was concerned about His Majesty’s health. Better to inquire and address any issues sooner.

Ye Ji somewhat understood and was amused.

What on earth was Hou Rongfa thinking? But then he quickly recalled that if Ah Chen were truly a man, last night’s event, who knows how it went.

”I’m fine.”

Ye Ji got up and moved to the desk. ”Go rest now. Call your godson over to stand by instead.”

Hou Rongfa was getting on in years, and having him stay up all night and remain might cause illness, and this was someone loyal to him.

Seeing Ye Ji stride towards the desk, noticing his face showed no signs of discomfort, Hou Rongfa finally felt at ease, knowing there was no pretense.

So, the Emperor and Prince Ning?

He quickly shook his head; as long as it didn’t harm His Majesty’s health, these matters were of lesser importance.

”Yes, Your Majesty.”

He understood that His Majesty’s instructions showed consideration, deeply moving him, so he had no intention to insist on staying. Falling ill would only make him incapable of serving His Majesty.

Today, Ah Chen was to go to an estate outside the Capital City.

This estate had been cultivating good strains and researching other things, and now there were results. If all went well, she planned to plant new strains in suitable lands gradually. Currently, Beixia was prosperous, but natural disasters are unreasonable.

From the beginning, she planned to cultivate good strains and store surplus grain so she could gain the power and status she desired from the Beixia Emperor. As a Missionary, everything she did laid the groundwork for completing her task. As long as it didn’t conflict with her mission, she could solve many of the Beixia Emperor’s troubles.

Unexpectedly, he was Fu You, which made things easier, eliminating the need to guard against being thrown away after being used.

”Young Master.” Ying Fang called from inside the carriage, looking complex. Today’s Young Master was different.

The previous Young Master was too quiet, doing everything silently. Despite being a living person, being by her side for long made it seem as if heaven and earth were silent, somewhat terrifying.

Lonely, lifeless, as if devoid of life.

It was an absurd feeling, but this is how Ying Fang experienced it.

However, the Young Master now, though still relaxed and leaning as usual inside the carriage, akin to the elegant gentleman everyone saw, had an aura of renewed vitality.

Like a dead land being reborn.

”If there’s something you want to say, then say it. Since when did you become so long-winded?” Ah Chen smilingly asked, ”Were you bored waiting at night? I did tell you the time, no need to wait up, you could rest. If you get sleepy during the day and get ambushed, how will you manage?”

Ying Fang quickly responded, ”I’m still young; staying up an occasional night or two isn’t an issue.”

”Aged ailments are brought on by overexertion when young,” Ah Chen commented. ”Not taking care when young leads to suffering in old age.”

Ying Fang added, ”But Young Master also stays up often, and yet you say this about me.”

Who isn’t taking care of their health? Ying Fang felt annoyed inside, clearly, it’s Young Master! If it weren’t for his impeccable health, she would’ve forbidden him to constantly stay up working.

”Your temper has grown.”

”I’m not like you guys,” Ah Chen gently raised her chin. ”I won’t get sick from staying up, but you will.”

It was something to envy, yet it was painful.

For an Immortal, enduring the cycle of destruction and rebirth is inevitable.

Ying Fang almost rolled her eyes; everyone gets affected by staying up late.

”I don’t know if I can make it back today,” Ah Chen suddenly said, ”In the future, when there’s nothing happening at the Mansion, I’ll stay at the Imperial Palace at night.”

Ying Fang: ”...” Does she have to say it so lightly, as if the Imperial Palace is the Young Master’s home?

But... perhaps it could be considered as such, right?

In any case, Ying Fang’s heart finally settled. The Young Master won over His Majesty, and worrying about charges of deceiving the Emperor seemed unnecessary.

The Young Master is indeed impressive; achieving even this!

Ah Chen glanced at Ying Fang’s bright eyes and found it amusing.

”The Fourth Sister should be about done. The Weian Earl Mansion isn’t a good place to stay long, coming back is better.”

Knowing Ning Yutong’s temperament, after sending her there, Ah Chen didn’t interfere further, nor did she pry. Unless something threatening happened to Ning Yutong, her people wouldn’t report back.

If the Commissioner’s sisters could leverage some power to resolve issues themselves, she would prefer it this way.

Among the sisters, Ning Yutong was the one most capable of managing on her own.

Once she returned, she’d likely manage a lot of the Prince Ning Mansion’s affairs.

In the early dawn, as Ning Yutong rose, she unexpectedly sneezed, thinking of who was mentioning her.

It must be Ah Chen thinking of her, Ning Yutong’s joyful smile appeared.

”Add more medicine for them. Ah Chen misses me, and I can’t wait any longer; I want to reunite with Ah Chen soon.” She said softly, knowing the room was filled with her people, even if it seemed they were bribed by Zhou Yuanjia, they actually listened to her.

Zhou Yuanjia didn’t want children, right? Fine, then she’ll grant that wish.

”Yes, My Lady,” the maid assisting her with her hair responded, her eyes respectfully lowered.
