Super Gene Hunting Ground

The Wild Man King crouched beside Yang Xiao and, after hearing the sentence Yang Xiao recited, was also shocked and exclaimed:

”Holy crap, this sentence is actually true!”

Yang Xiao turned his head to look at the Wild Man King beside him,

”Grandpa, you’re old enough, don’t swear.”

The Wild Man King gave Yang Xiao a look and said:

”I’m just excited. This secret has been unsolved for over a hundred years, and now it’s right in front of us. I didn’t expect this sentence to be so simple.”

”It should have been easy to find if the Wild Man ancestor back then just explained it in detail.”

”Alas, I heard that when that Wild Man ancestor first ran out and found the Wild Man tribe, he was already in a bad state, he only briefly mentioned it, and finally revealed the riddle ’the sun rises in the east, by the waterside’ before he died... Well, what do we do now?”

”Wait, I guess they’ll leave the cave before evening, and after they’re gone, we can go down to check.”

While Yang Xiao was speaking, he took out two pieces of dried meat from his Space Ring, handed one to the Wild Man King, and started eating his share hungrily.

Both of them were lying in the forest midway up the hill, and they stayed like this until the evening when A-Chuan and others gradually emerged from the cave and flew back.

After they had flown far away, Yang Xiao and the Wild Man King came out of the forest and leaped towards the valley, landing where A-Chuan and others had emerged.

Surrounded by trees dozens of meters tall and due to the passage of time, the entrance of the cave was almost entirely covered with thorns and wild grass. If not paid special attention, even if someone walked past the entrance, it might not be noticed.

From his Space Ring, Yang Xiao took out a flashlight no longer an Earthling item but bought in Karachi City, a flashlight that could be used continuously for about a month.

The two did not destroy the entrance’s thorns and wild grass but gently parted them with their hands before bending down to enter the cave.

The front of the cave was narrow and got broader as they proceeded. After walking about twenty or thirty meters, there was a large natural cavern, tens of meters high and hundreds of meters wide.

More coincidentally, about fifty meters of the cavern on one side was exposed to the cliff valley.

”This place has a nice environment.”

The Wild Man King remarked.

There were some simple stone tools inside the cave.

Yang Xiao shone his flashlight on the cave wall and indeed saw many inscriptions. These were the primitive inscriptions of the wild people, quite rough.

Yang Xiao had once studied the system of characters from myriad worlds in his mind, which included the simple characters of the wild people, so he could basically understand the inscriptions on the stone wall.

The text was disordered, without any apparent pattern. Often, a section of the wall would contain some reflections and insights, then it would abruptly end, and the next part about Cultivation insights seemed not to align with the previous ones.

Sometimes, two sections of text appeared to contradict each other, with one section affirming a certain method as effective, immediately followed by another section overturning that conclusion.

After looking for a long time, Yang Xiao sighed:

”This Wild Man ancestor’s disorganized Cultivation insights are like a death trap for his descendants, aren’t they?”

The Wild Man King chuckled:

”I wouldn’t dare try those Cultivation insights. I guess A-Chuan and the others would be greatly disappointed and wouldn’t know where to start their Cultivation.”

Though making fun of it, the two still kept studying the wall with the intent to learn, discussing as they read, hoping to find something useful.

”Here are the insights of that Wild Man ancestor who Cultivated for two to three hundred years, there must be something useful,” Yang Xiao reflected. ”But I think we need to read all of his Cultivation insights thoroughly to truly grasp the true meaning of our predecessor.”

As dawn approached, the two had only seen about one-tenth of the content on the stone wall. Expecting that A-Chuan and others might come back to view the Cultivation insights, they left the cave early and went to rest at the top of a peak tens of kilometers away.

By evening, the two went back into hiding midway up the hill and indeed saw A-Chuan and others emerging from the cave.

After they had left, Yang Xiao and the Wild Man King again entered the cave to continue examining the inscriptions.

To avoid arousing suspicion from A-Chuan and the others, they did not leave any traces in the cave, merely observing the inscriptions on the wall.

Thus, Yang Xiao and the Wild Man King continued to examine the inscriptions on the stone wall every night for ten nights.

On the eighth day, it seemed A-Chuan and others no longer came to the cave.

”Yang Xiao, have you noticed any problems?”

The Wild Man King rubbed his somewhat swollen eyes.

After a moment of thought, Yang Xiao said:

”More than ninety percent of the writings on this wall are nonsense.”

Wild Man King: ”...”

”Those initial ninety percent of the writings were all about the dozens of Cultivation methods he once tried, trying to change his own genetic evolution bottleneck, but all failed, alas, this predecessor’s behavior truly confirms a saying,”

”What saying?”

”Failure is the mother of success!”

Wild Man King: ”@#￥%...What do you mean?”

”It means that every failure told him that this method didn’t work.”

”Ha!”

The Wild Man King laughed:

”Kid, can you be serious? Then tell me, what about the remaining ten percent that isn’t nonsense, how do you interpret that?”

Yang Xiao thought for a while, then walked to a section of the cave wall, pointing to the inscriptions and said:

”According to the content on this wall, you can deduce that this inscription was the last insight written by our predecessor, which he thought might be a successful Cultivation method.”

The Wild Man King nodded and said:

”My thoughts are the same as yours, but is this method reliable? After all, the predecessor himself didn’t complete this experiment.”

”All I can say is that this method has some viability. In his last decades of life, through accidental observation of the snakes’ skin shedding transformation, he created a Genetic Transformation Technique.

Actually, this technique is quite similar to the Genetic Transformation Technique of the Great Dragon Empire, at least in principle. For example, the Body Refinement, Bone Forging, and Yijin in the Empire’s technique, are about enhancing one’s skills to break the stable state and regenerate a new body structure, achieving a breakthrough in the genetic evolution bottleneck.

However,”

”However, what?”

”According to what’s written on the stone wall, the predecessor only completed the first phase. After Cultivating the first phase, he felt his life was coming to an end and didn’t have time to continue Cultivation. He then wrote down his Cultivation insights and technique on the stone wall and ran out to tell the descendants of the tribe.

Unfortunately, following his method for Cultivating is far too dangerous, no ordinary person would dare to try.”

The Wild Man King nodded, similarly sighing:

”Alas, using one’s life for Cultivation, only that predecessor could have thought of such a method.”
