Chapter 1649 - 570: Pros and Cons of Becoming a God

”Enemy attack!”

”Energy cannons, fire at will!”

”This is bad, itʼs a Demigod-level pressure. Quick! Activate the Fear Protection Witch Array!” In the control room on the fourth sublevel of the Floating City, a Third Level Crystalization Wizard glanced at the energy intensity on the dashboard and immediately turned pale.

Because even just the pressure from a Demigod-level enemy can cause most peopleʼs Will to collapse, making them unable to fight.

”The opponentʼs traits matched. Itʼs the Plague Evil God!” another Crystallization Wizard shouted.

”Activate the Shadow Protection Witch Array immediately!”

”...”

Orders were issued from the command center, mobilizing nearly all of the battle machinery in the Floating City.

However, if someone familiar were there, they would realize that two important figures—Haleem and Moria, both Metal Series Dawn Wizards, were not in the control room at the moment.

Additionally, despite many of the Floating Cityʼs defense and combat systems being activated,

the biggest issue remained that the repairs were not fully complete, so the First Level energy shield couldnʼt be activated, only some subordinate protection Witch Arrays and energy cannons could be used.

Itʼs difficult to say how much protection this could provide against a Demigod-level enemy.

As Erebusʼ towering figure heavily stepped onto the surface of the Floating City, many Mechanical Land Birds and swift dragon combat machines were flattened, and the solid metal ground was noticeably indented.

”Pathetic ants!” Erebus casually crushed a several dozen meters tall mechanical octopus into scrap metal, disdainfully saying.

More terrifying was the vast area of gray mist naturally emanating from around him.

In areas covered by it, numerous combat personnel instantly perished; it was one of the Divine Body Traits akin to the witchcraft ʼPlague Cloudʼ.

Even mechanical creations were corroding and rusting at speeds visible to the naked eye...

Itʼs evident that the combat strength of this Demigod-level avatar is much stronger than previous Epic-level avatars.

”Bang!!”

With a single punch, he cracked the metal surface, meters thick, and tore it open with both hands.

Erebus was quite clear that, although these in front of him were mere ants causing no trouble, the problem was, humans still posed a thorny presence, and he needed to speed up.

Moreover, even as a Demigod-level avatar, relying solely on plague and toxins makes penetrating the multi-layered structure of the Floating City below very challenging; thus, he had to destroy the city to a certain degree first.

While attacking, he cautiously observed his surroundings, not daring to exert full force.

After breaking into the second level, Erebus was mostly certain that the human Full Moon Wizard Rein, whom he dreaded, wouldnʼt arrive anytime soon.

”Since thatʼs the case, you all shall perish!” Erebus, feeling relieved, began a full-force assault.

Suddenly, he sensed the Plague Cloud seeping below him being halted by a higher-level blue energy.

”Erebus, youʼre still so repulsive!”

”Fond of ambushes and plagues!”

At this moment, a crisp female voice, familiar yet seemingly unheard for a long time by Erebus, rang out.

Blue light shone all around as a heroic female figure with a Cock Crown Helmet slowly emerged.

”You... youʼre Matilda!”

”You actually survived!”

Erebusʼ expression was utterly shocked, his actions involuntarily halted.

But soon, he recollected himself.

Erebus quickly sized up the appearing Matilda and then sighed in relief.

Perhaps due to realizing that Matilda, too, was merely in a Demigod-avatar form, not her true body.

”Matilda, you alone cannot keep me here.”

”Moreover, havenʼt you heard the saying?”

”Destruction is easier than construction!”

Erebus chuckled, planning to act again.

At this moment, two red energy beams shot towards Erebus from both sides, as two gigantic Mechanical Tyrannosaurs, their heads emerging from below the metallic layer.

These two were repaired Kings of Mechanical Tyrannosaurs, once the Legion Commander Level powerhouses among Ancient Goblins.

Haleem and Moria, two Metal Series early-stage Dawn Wizards combined with the Kings of Mechanical Tyrannosaurs, although slightly weaker than a Demigod, could cause Erebus significant trouble.

”Erebus, it seems youʼll have to take back your words just now.”

Matilda sneered, manifesting an Energy Spear in her hand and flashing forward gracefully to join the fray.

Marred only seconds later, Erebus lost the will to continue fighting, knowing his surprise attack plan had already failed.

He needed to escape quickly; otherwise, if that human, Rein, arrived....

Suddenly, he stiffened entirely!

As a human figure appeared in the sky above, it was none other than Rein, the one he dreaded the most.

”You... how can you be so fast?!” Erebusʼ eyes widened in astonishment.

Knowing the attack from its inception hadnʼt even been thirty seconds.

He couldnʼt believe Luen, Hela, and the others couldnʼt even delay him for that brief moment.

”Heh, are you referring to them?” Rein smiled slightly, opening his hand to reveal six small, colorful Divine Fragments to everyone present.

This sight caused Erebus to tremble, his several-hundred-meter form slightly shivering!

”Whoosh!”

He quickly darted towards the opposite sky to flee.
