Chapter 1601: Chapter 553: The Disturbance at Cologne Cathedral

Suddenly, on the broad back of the Black Dragon, Rein was slightly startled. After a while, he muttered to himself:

”The energy tide has strengthened again...”

”No wonder the ancient sages of the Elf Clan predicted that whether it’s the Evil God or the Fiend Demon, they will reappear.”

Just now, Rein clearly felt the increase in the concentration of mysterious side energy particles around. This time, like the last time, was not a gradual growth but a sudden small increment again.

Of course, the total amount is still small, still at a decimal point level, but very apparent.

Logically, the situation just occurred not long ago and shouldn’t be so frequent.

This couldn’t help but remind Rein of the multiple small tremors that often occur as warnings before a strong earthquake.

”Could this mean that in the near future, the amplitude of energy tide fluctuations will increase again?”

The strengthening of energy tide fluctuations has both pros and cons, and in the short term, it can be said to be more disadvantageous than beneficial.

Because this will not only make it easier for humans with outstanding talents to break through, leading to an explosive emergence of geniuses, but it also means that the speed of the Evil God’s resurrection will accelerate further.

As for the Fiend Demon... I’m afraid it’s not far off either?

”It seems I need to speed up the progress. After dealing with the Steel Dragon here, I must return to the Imperial City immediately, meet with Menia, and then head to the Federation.” Rein thought solemnly.

...

Rein is naturally not the only one shocked by the strengthening of the energy tide fluctuations. Wizards around the Third Level Crystalization can all clearly feel this.

Imperial City Tamriel.

In the deepest part of the Cologne Cathedral in the Imperial City, shaped with a spire.

Inside a large Crystal Coffin lies a pitch-black sinister object that, if observed closely, resembles the upper half of a human torso.

However, where the ribs should be, there are instead mantis-like scythe forelimbs.

This unknown remnant body constantly trembles slightly, and the threads of black-gray airflow emanating from it explore the Crystal Coffin like living creatures, seemingly trying to find a way out.

But every time they touch the Crystal Coffin, they rapidly shrink back as if electrocuted.

Providing this special effect to the Crystal Coffin is a large-scale Witch Array surrounding it.

At this moment, the Witch Array is radiating a dense water-blue light, with each of the six corners of the hexagram occupied by an elder dressed in a blue robe of an experienced Archbishop.

The spiritual power fluctuations of the six are at the level of Dawn Wizards.

As virtually the only remaining True God Sect, the strength of the Monsoon and Ocean Goddess Church can be seen here.

At present, each of them has gathered a cluster of dazzling water-blue light balls in front of them, with each ball emitting a bowl-sized beam linking to the giant Witch Array before them.

It looks very much like this Witch Array is being recharged.

Several minutes later, the entire recharging process halted, and the six archbishop elders all sighed in relief:

”Finally suppressed it. The energy tide fluctuation just now was too sudden.”

”Yes, although ancient texts predicted such things, I didn’t expect the frequency to be so high!”

”...”

An elder Archbishop with thick eyebrows turned to glance at the young priest beside him and asked:

”Fuller, are you sure there were no leaks? Even if the Fiend Demon’s body had no issues, even a trace of Evil Demon Qi escaping could cause quite a disturbance.”

”Hmm... there shouldn’t be...” The young priest’s complexion was pale, and there was no lack of panic in his eyes.

However, to the thick-browed Archbishop, his proud disciple Fuller seemed to be frightened by the recent incident.

True, in his youth, he wouldn’t have been much calmer than this young man before him.

But this time, he judged incorrectly.

For the real reason behind the panic of the young priest Fuller Aphron was because he had reported late.

As the duty observer today, he had clearly seen a strand of black Fiend Demon Qi forcibly break through the limitations of the Witch Array and flee.

But as the youngest and most promising First Level Priest, soon to take up the position of Bishop locally, Fuller, after much thought, decided not to reveal this truth.

After all, it’s just a tiny bit; there should be no big problem, he thought.

”Starting today, increase the energy infusion frequency for the Witch Array, changing from once every seven days to once every three days.” The thick-browed Archbishop turned to other archbishop elders and said.

”Do we need such a high frequency?”

”Yes, to avoid incidents. If this Fiend Demon remnant escapes, we will have big trouble!”

”What should we do in the future? We’re afraid just the few of us aren’t enough.”

”Yes, I’ll report to His Holiness the Pope later.”

”...”

It is said that this ancient Witch Array was personally arranged by the Goddess, and conducting the energy infusion requires at least six experienced Archbishops (Dawn Level) to infuse simultaneously.

And each infusion consumes most of the spiritual power of the six.

This means that Cologne Cathedral in the Imperial City needs to have six Dawn Level Archbishop Wizards on constant standby.

Additionally, with defense personnel, this is why, even when the Evil God descended upon the Imperial City earlier, the Church could hardly dispatch any high-end combat power.

...

If one observes closely from mid-air, they will discover a nearly invisible black-gray gas drifting out from the top of the towering Cologne Cathedral.
