Chapter 1602: Chapter 553: Cologne Cathedral Disturbance (Part 2)

The front of this black-gray gas seemed to have a consciousness of its own, probing left and right, and finally, as if discovering something, it drifted rapidly against the wind towards the Second Prince Mansion not far from the left side of the Imperial Palace.

Inside the study of the Second Prince Mansion.

Everton looked haggard, his eyes filled with bloodshot veins. For days, he hadn’t rested well.

At this moment, he was staring blankly ahead at a bottle of blood-red potion exuding a misty witchcraft light.

”Your Highness, the experiment on Lunfrell’s side, I’m afraid, can no longer continue.”

”The elves have all been rescued by Rein. This is the last bottle of improved Super Evolution Potion that Lunfrell made using previous stock. However, since there’s no extra dosage, the potion wasn’t tested.”

Buchanan reported with a bow.

He had been so busy lately that he didn’t even have time to touch the ground.

The lost and distracted Second Prince had neither inspected the losses in the Secret Realm nor arranged follow-up actions, so Buchanan had been pushing these matters forward.

The relations between the Elf Clan and the Empire are increasingly good. Rein’s powerful rise has made many advanced nobles quite apprehensive, and even those slave capturing teams have ventured into Ferdinand Forest less frequently than before.

Moreover, the elves have intensified their vigilance along the borders, making it more than ten times harder to capture an elf than before.

However, Lunfrell’s potion experiment requires blood essences from at least double figures of elves to possibly proceed...

”Rein! Elves!”

Upon hearing Buchanan’s words, Second Prince Everton seemed to regain some clarity.

However, neither of them noticed that a faint, seemingly life-like black-gray gas had already sneaked in along the floor from the edge of the fireplace.

Soon, the black-gray gas’s tentacle-like front first looked at Buchanan, then at Second Prince Everton, before slithering across the ground like a serpent, arriving beneath Everton’s feet.

Suddenly, Everton felt a chill at his right ankle. The next moment, he only felt the world spinning around him!

From Buchanan’s perspective, Everton suddenly stiffened, his eyes rolled back, and his whole body began to tremble.

”Your Highness! Your Highness!”

This scene naturally scared Buchanan, who rushed to check on him.

Several seconds later, Everton seemed to return to normal, raising his hand and waving it, saying:

”Phew~ I’m fine, maybe just too tired recently.”

”You may go now, I’ll rest for a while.”

Buchanan looked again at Everton, as if assessing his physical condition.

Perhaps thinking that the Second Prince indeed needed more rest, Buchanan hesitated for a moment, then nodded and said, ”As you command, Your Highness, you have a good rest.”

Watching Buchanan leave, Everton’s eyes stiffened again, as he stared blankly at the ”Super Evolution Potion” before him, repeatedly murmuring, ”Drink the potion... Cologne Cathedral... underground...”

....

In the sky of Casweis Province.

Having flown for just over an hour, Rein arrived at the red dot marked on the map.

”This should be it, the old site of Angma Mine.”

Letting Black Dragon Metheus slowly land, Rein looked around.

This was a mine located in lush hills. Not far away stood a wooden post over twenty meters high. It’s said that hundreds of years ago, this used to be a bustling mine, but soon after excavation began, strange incidents frequently occurred, which prompted an investigation by the Empire’s strong ones.

Only after investigation was it discovered that there slept a rare and powerful metallic dragon here.

Considering the metallic dragon’s violent nature, the mine was immediately abandoned, and the surrounding area was isolated with a post set up.

”Lord Rein! Garrison Captain Char Hammond greets you!” At this moment, a squad of fully armed Imperial soldiers came swiftly under the lead of a middle-aged man in officer’s uniform.

Char had already received messages indicating the Imperial Guardian, Lord Rein, might visit soon.

”Hmm, is it inside here?”

”Yes, sir,” the named Colonel Char replied respectfully.

Meanwhile, both he and the Imperial elite soldiers behind him frequently shifted their gaze, secretly focusing on Metheus’s mountainous body.

They seemed to be saying, ”Is this what the Imperial Dragon Knight looks like? It’s truly impressive.”

”Captain Char, while guarding here, have you encountered anything strange? Or observed any disturbances?” Rein casually asked as he walked towards the entrance.

”Uh... Lord Rein, I’ve been here for eleven years. I recall about ten years ago, there was a tremor here, which I speculate was caused by the dragon below,” Char said.

”A ground tremor? How did you discern it was caused by it rather than an earthquake?”

”We heard a powerful roar, which instantly made us stiffen and our legs weak, as if facing a natural enemy. It’s similar to facing Lord Rein’s dragon partner,” Char pointed to the side at Black Dragon Metheus.

”Hmm, Captain Char, you’re very observant,” Rein nodded with a smile.

”Actually, it’s not much, just passed down from the previous captain,” Char scratched his head, seemingly a bit embarrassed by Rein’s compliment.

By this time, the group had reached the cave entrance. Seeing that Rein intended to proceed further, Char quickly reminded:

”Lord Rein, be cautious, there are some unusual monsters inside.”

”No worries,” Rein waved his hand, signaling there was no need for concern.

When he reached the cave entrance, he immediately sensed, aside from some creature movements, a faint yet vast aura emanating from deep within the mine.

At his level of power, if he concentrated carefully, very few things could escape his senses.

That aura... it should be the Steel Dragon’s aura!

Having confirmed its location below, Rein prepared to take action. He had devised his strategy while en route.

”Everyone, step back a bit.”

”As you command!” Char’s group immediately complied, stepping back fifty to sixty meters.

”Not enough, further back, over by the lookout tower,” Rein pointed at a wooden tower at least five hundred meters away.

”Well... as you command, Lord Rein.” Char seemed a bit puzzled but nodded immediately.

After all, moving five hundred meters away was quite far.

...

Once Char and his men left, Rein gently placed his palm on the cave’s entrance wall. With dark silver metallic ripples spreading outward centered on his palm.

Countless metal particles began to converge towards his palm.

This is an ability owned by Metal Series Wizards, to absorb surrounding metal. The strength of this move is limited by two factors: the grade of metal element affinity and the strength of spiritual power.

However, in both aspects, Rein is at the pinnacle among Metal Series Wizards.

Thus, at the moment, Rein’s palm acted like an oversized magnet, attracting surrounding metal particles and quickly forming a metal mass the size of a millstone, continually growing.

The awe-inspiring power naturally left Char and his men dumbfounded.

And a smile appeared on Rein’s face because he sensed movements from below.

Indeed, as Menia said, metallic dragons are fond of metal, and they are very sensitive to metal energy fluctuations.

”Buzz buzz!”

The surrounding ground began to tremble, and the mine suddenly burst out with more than a dozen lizard-like creatures covered in a gray-black shell, but they seemed intimidated by Rein’s power level and dared not attack, instead of retreating to the sides.

Immediately after, cracks began to appear in the ground, as if something enormous was about to break through from beneath.
