Chapter 1427: Chapter 488: Abnormal Fire Dragon

When Rein arrived at the side of the ship, Menia and Reginald also stepped out of the cabin almost simultaneously.

The few of them looked into the distance at the same time.

What greeted Rein’s eyes was a mountain range on the lower right side of the airship fleet, with a mountain pass from which thick smoke and fiery red lava intermittently spewed out.

As time passed, the volcanic smoke grew larger, surging to the sky like a black tide, dyeing a large portion of the sky dark in an instant.

”Volcanic eruption?” Reginald frowned slightly.

”No, it’s not just a volcanic eruption.” Menia shook her head, as if she sensed something.

Rein squinted, feeling that there seemed to be a giant shadow flashing by near the volcanic crater.

”Roar!!!”

At this moment, a loud dragon roar suddenly emanated from the volcano!

This dragon roar seemed to transcend the limits of distance, causing the hearts of the people on the joint airship fleet, kilometers away in mid-air, to quake.

Amid the shock of everyone!

”Boom!”

A huge fiery red figure leaped out from the volcano!

Soon after, it unfolded gigantic red wings that could obscure the sky, kicking up lava and black smoke hundreds of meters high from the volcano.

”Huh? Is that a fire dragon? But why is its size so unusual?” Rein wondered in astonishment.

He had seen fire dragons, even fought them before.

But compared to the Molten Fire Dragon ’Hermados,’ which fled at the mere sight of him, this fire dragon was several times larger and had an unusual appearance.

Its body wasn’t covered with those smooth, fine red scales but had a texture mixed with something keratinous or a red coating, looking rough and uneven.

”This should be an ancient fire dragon, long dormant in volcanic lava, possibly undergoing some mutation.” Menia, having also seen the creature’s unusual exterior and its size of seventy to eighty meters, spoke seriously.

The unusual fire dragon that just leapt out of the volcano first glided some distance in the air, as if familiarizing itself with the surroundings.

At this moment, its crimson vertical pupils noticed the nearby Federation and Empire mixed airship fleet.

The strange fire dragon flapped its wings again, letting out a provocative roar, and flew swiftly toward the airship fleet.

Although the fleet was composed of over twenty airships of varying sizes, making it extremely conspicuous.

It was hard not to notice.

But Rein keenly noticed that there seemed to be a peculiar look flashing in the red vertical eyes of the strange fire dragon.

This expression was odd, like an intense longing for something.

”Huh? Seems like it’s coming straight for us.”

”That’s a bit strange, as our mixed airship fleet looks tough to deal with at a glance.”

”Logically, dragon creatures are quite intelligent and won’t engage in battles with equally strong enemies on their own.” Rein couldn’t help but feel puzzled, lowering his head in thought.

After pondering, Rein turned to look at Red Queen Menia beside him. Facing this suddenly awakened strange fire dragon, he felt that the Federation alone likely couldn’t hold it off.

At this time, ’Earth Pulse’ Reginald also spoke in a deep voice: ”Prince Menia, this strange fire dragon’s power is quite unusual, I’m afraid the Federation will find it difficult to handle it alone.”

”No hurry, let’s wait a moment, don’t forget this is the Federation’s territory.” Menia shook her head and said.

Upon hearing Menia’s words, Rein instantly understood something and nodded.

Menia’s meaning was clear: this is Federation territory. Moreover, this fire dragon comes precisely now, not earlier or later, which is quite intriguing.

Of course, most importantly, this incident will give the Empire more leverage in future negotiations with the Federation.

The unchanging aspect of international relations is interest.

”Report! Prince Menia, the Federation has signaled, hoping we accelerate forward, leaving the battlefield, and the Federation airship fleet will handle the fire dragon.” A messenger came to the ship’s side and said.

”Yes, accelerate forward.” Menia nodded.

Upon hearing the messenger’s news, Rein couldn’t help but admire Menia’s judgment.

As expected from someone of Imperial Royal Family descent, Menia has a natural sensitivity to politics.

Unlike the previously planned joint battle, this is a sudden incident, and indeed, the Federation will try to handle it themselves.

Rein wasn’t in a rush and turned to watch the development of events.

However, he suddenly thought of another matter and smiled wryly to himself.

”No, if the Federation can’t withstand it and Senator Trena on the flagship is endangered, I’ll still have to step in.”

”After all, I just promised Lady Trena to be her Guardian Knight, I can’t go back on my word, can I?”

”I thought being this Guardian Knight was just a title, but unexpectedly, it’s already becoming practical.”

...

A minute earlier.

On the Federation Giant Airship, in the captain’s room.

The sudden appearance of this strange fire dragon immediately dissipated Vice Speaker Bertrand’s previously good mood.

”Smack!”

Bertrand slammed the table with a heavy hand, angrily scolding: ”What is the intelligence department doing!”

”A strange fire dragon reawakens precisely as our airship fleet passes by, is that a coincidence?”

”What would the Empire Delegation think of this?”

”Such incidents happening repeatedly would only make our Federation look incompetent!”

”It will put us at a disadvantage in cooperative negotiations with the Empire!”
