Chapter 1422: Chapter 486: Trena’s Mission (Part 2)

”The General Staff is to immediately conduct an analysis assessment based on the recent events.”

”As you command, Vice Chairman!”

...

With the arrival of the Federation and Empire’s joint airship formation, the subsequent matters had little to do with Rein.

Meanwhile, Vice Speaker Bertrand was intently reviewing the latest intelligence on Rein.

”Hmm? Prefers mature women, and seems to have a liking for Senator Trena?” Reading this line, a flicker of surprise crossed Vice Speaker Bertrand’s eyes.

”Is the intelligence reliable?”

He couldn’t help but glance up at the middle-aged officer from the intelligence system in front of him.

”Vice Chairman, absolutely reliable. This is the latest intelligence submitted by a spy lurking in the Dragan Empire.”

Upon hearing this, Vice Speaker Bertrand was momentarily stunned, then nodded and continued to read through the intelligence.

”Oh? The intelligence department has already made initial contact?”

”Though it’s done under the guise of Senator Trena, Lord Rein did not refuse, very good.”

”Yes, so far, the two gifts offered by the intelligence department have been fully accepted by the other party. This indicates that Lord Rein has a favorable impression of the Federation,” the middle-aged officer said with a smile.

”No, this only indicates that he has a favorable impression of Senator Trena,” Vice Speaker Bertrand shook his head and said.

”Uh... to be precise, yes.” The middle-aged officer was momentarily taken aback, but then he nodded in agreement.

”Since we have identified the opponent’s human weakness, it’s most suitable for Senator Trena to come forward.”

”This... about Senator Trena, our intelligence department...” the middle-aged officer said in embarrassment.

”I will personally speak with her,” Vice Speaker Bertrand waved his hand and said.

”That’s great, Vice Chairman. If you step in, it couldn’t be better,” the intelligence officer visibly breathed a sigh of relief, smiling.

From a political standpoint, even though he was an admiral, he couldn’t compare to a Federation senator.

Even if he wanted Trena to cooperate with the plan to win over Rein, using a guise was already the limit.

...

Several hours later.

The joint airship formation of the Federation and Dragan Empire once again slowly descended at the official dock point at Westin City Hall.

A group of people was waiting at the docking point, led by the beautiful woman, Trena.

Due to the previous joint combat mission, Vice Speaker Bertrand took personal command, so Senator Trena did not participate and remained in Westin City.

After a warm welcome ceremony, Vice Speaker Bertrand immediately met with Trena.

Inside an office at Westin City Hall, Bertrand’s temporary office location.

”Senator Trena, the strength and potential shown by the young Rein is currently unmatched by any young person in the entire Federation.”

”Therefore, we must find a way to keep this young man in the Federation.”

”Vice Chairman, I understand your point, but I did attempt to win him over before, and it didn’t have much effect. Now, in this matter, what can I do?” Trena couldn’t help but feel a bit puzzled.

”Well...” Faced with Trena’s inquiry, Vice Speaker Bertrand hesitated to say it outright for a moment.

He then handed the latest intelligence on Rein to Trena.

”See for yourself.”

Trena couldn’t help but be a bit curious and quickly skimmed through it.

”Hmm? These matters... the intelligence department used my name without consultation...” Seeing some situations in the documents, Trena couldn’t help but feel a bit angry.

Because some situations in the documents were acted upon by the Federation Intelligence Department without communicating with her, directly under her name.

”Senator Trena, please don’t be angry yet, continue reading. All for the Federation, isn’t it?”

Hearing Vice Speaker Bertrand’s phrase ”all for the Federation,” Trena suppressed her discontent and continued inspecting the documents.

Before long, her fair face gradually reddened.

”This... Vice Chairman, is the conclusion in the documents reliable?”

”Rein likes... prefers mature women?”

Trena finally understood why the Federation Intelligence Department used her name.

And the purpose of Vice Speaker Bertrand’s conversation with her this time.

Her husband, Grand Duke Heidelberg, died in battle last year with a reawakened Ancient Giant Beast.

Subsequent multiple occurrences of giant beast resurgences also made the Federation, which was just starting its steam revolution, realize that even with firearms, ordinary people could not resist the giant beasts.

Only top combat power and mechanical geniuses are decisive factors in battles against giant beasts.

”Reliable. According to intelligence, the young Lord Rein’s only weakness is his fondness for women. Moreover, compared to young girls, he seems to prefer mature women. In the Empire, he has more than two mature women under his command.”

Hearing this, Trena’s face reddened further.

Although Vice Speaker Bertrand did not explicitly state what exactly she’d need to do, someone as astute as Trena naturally understood Bertrand’s implication.

”This... is there no sufficiently excellent young girl to capture his interest?”

”Currently, there is none.”

”Of course, we haven’t conducted an all-Federation selection of young girls, but judging from Rebecca’s interactions with Rein, even such an outstanding young lady as your daughter Rebecca does not seem to attract much interest from Rein.”
