Chapter 1423: Chapter 486: Trena’s Mission (Part 3)

”Instead, to you...”

”This... alright, I’ll try.” Trena pondered for a moment before reluctantly nodding, her face flushed.

On her last visit to the Empire, she mentioned Rein to her daughter Rebecca.

Rebecca seemed to be very interested in Rein.

Otherwise, Rebecca wouldn’t have joined this mission.

”Well, looking forward to good news from Councilor Trena.” Vice Speaker Bertrand couldn’t help but smile slightly.

When Trena was young, she was known as the flower of the Heidelberg Duchy. Even he had harbored intentions of pursuing her.

...

After leaving Bertrand’s office, Trena’s face showed signs of conflict.

It wasn’t that she was averse to Rein. In fact, on her visit to the Dragan Empire when she encountered Corruption Dragon Agnes, Trena had a good impression of Rein, who fought the dragon alone.

The problem is... Rein is younger than her daughter Rebecca.

If she really were to be with Rein...

Alas! What a situation!

”Perhaps maintaining a temporary ambiguous relationship with Rein might be more appropriate.”

”It would persuade Rein to leave the Empire for the Federation, while also preserving her own reputation,” Trena mused to herself.

...

That evening.

In the banquet hall of the Westin City Hall.

The Federation hosted a grand reception for the Empire Delegation.

Due to the first joint battle resulting in a major victory, the specifications for this welcome banquet were very high, with the Federation Deputy Speaker and Prince Menia from the Empire Delegation attending.

This made Rein, who originally intended to stay in the airship cabin to continue leveling up as a Skinning Master, also attend the event.

Rein sat in a corner of the banquet, seemingly not wanting to attract attention, but the noble ladies coming to toast him kept coming in an endless stream.

”Oh, Lord Rein, your popularity exceeds my expectations. So many ladies with various charms; don’t you find any of them attractive?”

Rebecca, dressed in a white evening gown, sat beside Rein and joked with a laugh.

”It’s not that they’re unattractive, it’s just that I’d rather discuss the making of Demon Statues with Miss Rebecca.”

”Oh, Lord Rein, I find you very eloquent. Is this a roundabout compliment for me?” Rebecca couldn’t help but cover her mouth and giggle.

This powerful and enigmatic young man seemed to possess a natural, mysterious allure towards the opposite sex.

Rebecca’s beautiful eyes would frequently glance at Rein.

At this moment, a beautiful, mature woman with an extraordinary aura, without deliberate dressing, walked gracefully towards them.

”Mother, why did you come so late?”

Seeing Trena, Rebecca happily went up and hugged her arm.

”Hmm?”

Rein’s eyes widened slightly, surprised to see the young girl before him and then look at the beautiful woman beside her.

”Rebecca, Councilor Trena is your mother?” Rein was stunned.

”Yes, hehe, Lord Rein, couldn’t you tell before?”

Rebecca stood playfully beside Trena, and indeed, their beautiful faces shared at least six or seven similarities, standing together like a pair of sisters.

”This... truly unexpected.”

Rein had never thought in that direction before, hence he never noticed.

At this point, the beautiful woman Trena raised her glass and smiled, toasting to Rein:

”Lord Rein, on behalf of the Federation, I thank you and the other Crown members for jointly defeating the Ice Sea Giant Demon.”

”I really hope Lord Rein was born in the Federation, rather than in the Empire.”

Trena’s upper body was dressed in a corset-style light purple silk button-up shirt, and she wore a pair of form-fitting black hunting trousers, accentuating her ample bosom and hips, with a slender waist, showcasing the beautiful curves of a mature woman.

A closer look would reveal that whether on the shirt or hunting trousers, there were gold-threaded patterns or lines, extremely exquisite workmanship hinting at its high value, highlighting the noble status of the beautiful woman before them.

Even compared to the many young noble ladies, Trena’s aura was still unique.

”Thank you, Councilor Trena, for the compliment. Actually, killing the ’Ice Sea Giant Demon’ Gazrian was mainly due to the efforts of Prince Menia, Lord Reginald and your Federation’s Sword Saint Lord Terrio.”

”I just assisted from the side and seized the opportunity at the end.”

”Lord Rein, you are too humble. Lord Terrio spoke very highly of your performance in battle.” The beautiful Councilor Trena’s eyes glanced at Rein pleasantly.

Since Rein wanted to inquire about the follow-up on the witchcraft Sawtooth Ring from Trena, his speech was naturally polite.

Meanwhile, Trena, who had the task of befriending Rein, was equally conciliatory in her words.

Going back and forth, the two left Rebecca on the sidelines.

Hmm?

Rebecca, standing nearby, couldn’t help but cast a suspicious glance at Rein and her mother.

She felt that something was amiss between them.

Not only were they chatting more and more agreeably, but there also seemed to be something else between them.

At this moment, Rein felt the timing was right, and smiled as he said: ”By the way, Councilor Trena, there’s something I’d like to ask you privately, if you don’t mind?”
