Chapter 1425: Chapter 487: Opposition Within the Federation (Part 2)

It seems that the plan I made earlier, to match Rebecca, is basically out of the question.

”This... Senator Trena, Miss Rebecca is very beautiful, but what we talked about was all related to the topic of Demon Statue making. I think she should have someone better as another half.” Lord Rein declined politely.

For Fourth Level Witchcraft, to marry a girl I don’t quite like?

Rein immediately vetoed this idea.

”Is there anything else you would like me to do?” Rein asked.

”Lord Rein, can you become the Guardian Knight of the Heidelberg Duchy?” Trena thought for a moment and said.

She naturally had her own reasons for proposing this condition.

As long as Rein becomes the Guardian Knight of the Duchy, he could slowly evolve into a Guardian of the Federation.

Guardian Knight?

Rein is well aware of what a Guardian Knight needs to do.

Family Guardian Knight, as the name implies, protects a family with which Rein only promised one, the Crawley family where Jennifer belongs.

In fact, now Jennifer is the head of the Crawley family, and she’s his person, naturally, no harm.

As for the personal Guardian Knight, Rein has currently committed only to Cleya.

”Sorry, my identity is quite sensitive, and it is indeed difficult to agree to your request, Lady Trena.”

”Well... how about this? I can agree to become your personal Guardian Knight,” Rein thought for a moment and said.

After all, the other’s condition isn’t too demanding or even rather relaxed, but as his status as Vice Chief of the Imperial General Staff, it’s not appropriate to serve as the Guardian Knight for a Duchy under the Federation.

Of course, after repeatedly refusing the beautiful woman twice, Rein also proposed a condition he could accept.

As a personal Guardian Knight, it was much easier to explain.

Moreover, Rein took advantage of it because Trena, as a Federation senator, is unlikely to encounter any security issues.

That is to say, his role as Guardian Knight is more in name.

Trena’s face reddened further upon hearing this.

After all, becoming her Guardian Knight is equivalent to directly expressing pursuit of her, isn’t it?

”This... alright.” Trena thought for a moment and agreed.

Indeed, this counts as taking their relationship a step further.

Though, it is still quite a distance from the minimum requirements of the intelligence department.

...

After Rein and Trena emerged from the lounge.

Rebecca, who had been waiting for a while, quickly approached, gave Rein a heavy huff, and dragged her mother away.

Seated at the main seat of the hall, the Red Queen Menia’s beautiful eyes lingered briefly on the just exited Rein and Trena before swiftly moving away.

Meanwhile, accompanying Vice Speaker Bertrand naturally saw this scene, and his smile grew more radiant.

”Prince Menia, interested in dancing?”

”Thank you, I haven’t danced in a long time.”

...

After the banquet.

The Empire Delegation prepared to return to the residence to rest.

However, just as Rein was about to board the carriage, Menia suddenly called him.

”Rein, come in my carriage.”

”Alright, Prince Menia.” Although Rein was a little puzzled about why Menia was looking for him, he nodded in agreement immediately.

Rein followed Menia, clad in a red Wizard Robe, into the same carriage cabin.

But as Menia stepped into the cabin, the hem of the red Wizard Robe flared significantly when she lifted her leg, bringing a fragrant breeze and revealing two long, white rounded legs.

Furthermore, due to her bending motion, the well-fitted Wizard Robe outlined Menia’s round, tempting curves before Rein’s eyes.

This made Rein momentarily stationary as he looked.

Deeply admiring Menia’s excellent figure, it was undeniably on par with the beautiful woman Trena.

However, Rein glanced briefly and immediately shifted his gaze.

Knowing full well that the Red Queen Menia is a veteran Dawn Wizard with extremely sensitive perception, lingering too long would certainly be noticed and thus awkward.

Once they were seated, Menia’s beautiful eyes looked at Rein, speaking bluntly:

”Rein, be careful of the Federation’s sugar-coated shells.”

Menia’s words made Rein’s face blush slightly, though in the dim light of the cabin’s oil lamp, it wasn’t very clear.

”Well... okay, Prince Menia.”

”And some private invitations, refuse them if you can, try not to attend.”

”There are many people here in the Federation who do not welcome us. Besides, I’ve received transmission from the Empire’s Spy within the Federation; some opposition forces may take action soon.”

”Oh? Opposition forces?” Rein thought thoughtfully.

Actually, he knows there are opposition groups within the Empire as well.

For example, many powerful Nobles still firmly oppose cooperation with the Federation, which is complex in reasons, involving both interests and historical feuds.

Tracing the historical feuds would lead to the story at the very beginning of the Federation’s establishment.

And it’s evident the Federation is the same way.

”Yes, particularly a force named the Zaral Rebellion, which has been very active recently.” Menia nodded and said.

”The Zaral Rebellion?” Rein raised an eyebrow.

This, he is quite familiar.

Previously in Meister, he had killed a figure of Quasi-General level from the opposite side.

Furthermore, he had interrogated the opposition, and there seems to be Federation support in military and funding behind the Zaral Rebellion.
