Chapter 784: Chapter 297: Consecutive Breakthroughs (Double-Length Chapter)

On the way back to the mansion.

“Captain, the knight’s plate armor you’re wearing is really beautiful, and it also has a mysterious vibe,” Viery exclaimed.

“That’s convenient. I’ll get you a set too,” Rein said with a smile as he looked down at the Secret Silver Engraved Plate Armor he was wearing.

“No, it’s too valuable,” Viery waved his hands quickly in dismissal.

“Viery, don’t forget, you’re my follower now. It’s my responsibility to equip you. Tomorrow, I will get a set for you.”

He wasn’t just paying lip service.

For Rein, thanks to the “Metal Morphing Spell” and the core skills of a Great Armor Forger, crafting a set of engraved knight’s plate armor only took a few hours to finish.

By contrast, even if other armor forgers were equally skilled, it would generally take nearly a month to complete a similar set of engraved knight’s plate armor.

….

An hour later.

Three luxury carriages without any markings slowly approached Rein Mansion along the street, stopping about several tens of meters away from their destination.

At that moment, two teams of people with black hoods and cloaks jumped down from the carriages, one in front and one in back.

The group that descended from the front carriage, beneath their cloaks, vaguely revealed plate armor and knight longswords. It seemed they were all knights, standing dispersed in position, their eyes shifting constantly, scanning the surroundings as if on alert.

At the same time, the other team of four people took out bottles from their bosoms, pulled out the stoppers, and as a special gas emerged, they immediately began silently casting spells.

“Fog Spell!”

All four cast the Fog Spell at the same time.

Soon, aided by the special gas, the effect of the Fog Spell was extremely effective.

It shrouded nearly half a block in fog.

“Hehe, I didn’t expect tonight’s weather to be on our side too. Dark clouds fill the sky, and adding the Fog Spell, tsk tsk,” said the woman in the central carriage, raising her head to laugh softly as she looked at a sky where not a single star was visible.

“Indeed, the weather is quite nice. By the way, Scorpion, has Lord Drak arranged the airship for us?” asked Asimov casually.

“It’s all set, the last airship to the Imperial City leaves in half an hour,” she responded.

“Well then, let’s proceed with our plan,” Asimov nodded.

“Yes, Chief!”

With the conversation ending, Iron Man and Scorpion, one after the other, stepped down from the carriage.

Although they had people and backgrounds behind them, assassinating an Imperial Sword Bearer, if caught in the act, was still going to lead to dire consequences.

The powers backing them wouldn’t come forward to protect them.

But…

As long as they weren’t discovered on the spot, they had a hundred ways to deny the act.

They were tasked by Marquis Orenz, a shareholder, to inspect the work of the Mingster branch of Yakesen Auction House, weren’t they?

…

Meanwhile, the four hooded Wizard Apprentices, after casting the Fog Spell, started heading toward the four directions near Rein Mansion, quickly taking out an object resembling an Array Plate and beginning to whisper incantations.

Soon, an invisible fluctuation covered the area.

The sole purpose of this array was simple: to reduce energy fluctuations in a specific area, including Shock and sound waves, among others.

In a city covered by large-scale alert arrays, this was considered a necessary condition for action.

…

Inside the mansion.

“Woof woof!” The Lintee War Dog, Cookie, originally lying down, suddenly stood up alert.

Rein suddenly opened his eyes, sat up from the bed, and looked outside the window.

A heavy fog had risen outside, obscuring even the street lamps to the point where they were indistinct, engulfed in a white expanse.

“They’re here already?”

Rein’s brow ticked, quickly donning his arm braces and knight gauntlets before exiting the room.

“Captain, there’s something off about this fog…”

The barking of the Lintee War Dog also awoke Viery. As a combatant with a military background, he quickly sensed the issue and said to Rein with a solemn face.

“Yes, I’ll take care of it. You stay here, and by the way, have everyone in the house gather in one room; it’ll make it easier for you to protect them,” Rein instructed Viery to safeguard the family.

“Captain, are you sure you’ll be okay alone…?”

“Don’t worry, it’s not a big problem,” Rein said calmly.

…

As Rein walked out of the villa alone, suddenly, a coquettish laugh echoed from the direction of the mansion’s gate.

“Hehe, I’m starting to like you a bit, Rein, is it? You actually came out on your own, saving us the trouble of searching room by room,” Scorpion said as she appeared through the fog with Iron Man by her side.

“Looks like we can save another minute,” she added.

Just as her words ended, a tall figure about two meters three in height carrying a huge shield appeared through the fog, embodying the steadfastness of a thousand-year-old rock by the sea with his very presence.

And the woman, with her alluring gait in her brown leather armor, was sparingly protected at critical parts, revealing large expanses of soft white skin, quite tempting.

They were Iron Man and Scorpion, the two individuals from Rein’s intelligence reports, and the speaker was Scorpion.

“Clang!”

The heavy iron gate of the mansion was effortlessly removed by Iron Man’s right arm, as if made of straw, and was thrown aside.
