Chapter 756: Chapter 290: The Situation (2 in 1 Long Chapter)

“Lord Olena, Lord Reine’s redemption has been completed with five tasks totaling three diamond stars, eight gold, and two silver task evaluation medals, plus twenty-nine thousand five hundred Merit Points.”

The pretty female clerk reported a string of numbers fluently, looking utterly astonished.

“Hmm, not bad. Right, have you upgraded Lord Reine’s badge?” Olena, having had her expectations set, wasn’t as shocked.

“It has already been updated, Lord Olena.”

The female clerk respectfully handed a transparent crystal badge to Reine.

“Thank you.”

After Reine received it, he examined it briefly and then put it away.

“Right, could you inquire at the office whether Admiral Edward is currently in?” Olena turned to ask the female clerk.

“Certainly, my lord.”

Once the female clerk had left, Olena then said to Reine:

“Lord Reine, actually, after you killed the ancient hero Hog, the task ‘Investigate the truth behind the Meister attack incident’ could have been rated as Magic Iron Level.”

“But Admiral Edward expressed that you have just joined the Sword Bearers Branch, and as there are still some things you do not quite understand, you need more time to get familiar and grow.”

“Therefore, the task was adjusted from Magic Iron Level to diamond star level, and to ensure you do not suffer a loss, the reward was set at three diamond stars.”

“Oh? Is there any special reason for that?” Reine raised an eyebrow.

Was Magic Iron Level a higher tier than diamond star level?

Why hadn’t he heard about it before?

“That’s right, if Lord Reine’s task had been assessed as one star at Magic Iron Level, your Sword Bearer rank would necessarily be adjusted to Magic Iron Level.”

“In that case, all subsequent arrangements and management privileges would come under the administration of the Sword Bearers Headquarters.”

“Simply put, it is highly probable that you would have to leave Mingster.”

“Secondly, the difficulty of the tasks you face would also mainly be at the quasi-Legendary and Legendary Levels.”

“Hmm?” Reine frowned.

Leave Mingster?

That was certainly not his wish!

How long had he been in Mingster?

There were still many things in the Sword Bearers Branch he had yet to learn, and he hadn’t fully utilized all the training equipment; going to the headquarters now would be too hasty.

Then there were the tasks.

He was quite clear about his own capabilities.

Facing a quasi-Legendary Level enemy, he would have to give it his all.

And to successfully kill a Legendary Level enemy, he would need to stack ten layers of the “Soul Shattering Warhammer” effect.

The key point was…

Not every enemy would give him that opportunity!

Going head-to-head with a Legendary?

That was not cherishing one’s life!

“Whereas with a diamond star, the management authority still remains within the Mingster Sword Bearers Branch.”

“Although theoretically, with three diamond stars, one could apply to become Magic Iron Level, the Branch can hold off on this process, waiting until the timing is right before reporting to the headquarters,” Olena said with a smile, adding to her explanation.

Reine suddenly understood.

This involved the internal struggle between different departments, similar to the fiscal negotiations between local and central governments in a past life.

“Please thank Admiral Edward for me.”

“Knock, knock, knock!”

At this moment, a knocking sound came, and the female clerk reported, “Lord Olena, the office says Admiral Edward went to the Goddess Church this morning. He won’t be back until the afternoon at the earliest.”

“It seems I can only wait until this afternoon, Lord Reine. You’ll be in Mingster these next two days, won’t you?” Olena looked a bit regretful as she turned to ask Reine.

“I’ll be in Mingster for the next two days, either at the Sword Bearers Branch or at home,” Reine understood Olena’s meaning: it was better to stay in Mingster these few days and not go out.

“That’s great, Lord Reine. As soon as Admiral Edward is available, I will contact you right away.”

“Hmm, thank you, Lord Olena.” Reine nodded his head.

Actually, with the mark not yet removed, he had no plans to leave Mingster at the moment.

Besides, he just happened to have a few matters to attend to.

…

After leaving Olena’s office, Reine headed to the Redemption Hall.

This return, whether in task evaluation medals or Merit Points, he had reaped plentifully, but these gains were only truly useful if they were converted into his own combat strength.

Otherwise, they were merely a string of numbers.

And the first item on Reine’s agenda was to head to the Redemption Hall to exchange for a high-quality breathing technique.

…

The flow of people in the Redemption Hall was slightly less compared to the Task Hall.

It wasn’t long before it was Reine’s turn.

Reine stepped into the booth, and a young female clerk stood up and bowed, saying:

“Greetings, how may I assist you, my lord?”

“I would like to inquire about breathing techniques.”

“Certainly, my lord, please may I see your badge?”

Reine nodded, simultaneously passing his newly minted diamond star badge to her.

The clerk’s eyes widened in surprise!

Hisss!

A lord of diamond star level!

This was quite rare; there weren’t many at diamond star level in the entire Sword Bearers Branch.

The clerk became even more respectful, taking it with both hands, then placing the badge into a specially designed slot.

“My lord, do you have any requirements for the level of breathing techniques?”

“Is the highest level considered excellent?”

“Yes, my lord.”

“Do you have any bloodline breathing techniques?” Reine thought for a moment, then asked further.

“My lord, that… we do not have,” the female clerk checked earnestly before looking up to reply.

“Hmm, then list all the excellent level breathing techniques,” Reine said.

Soon, a list of white text information appeared on the black wisdom slate in front of Reine:
