Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys

Chapter 768: 293 Chapter: Outbreak (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)

After some thought, Rein began to walk over to the machine positioned in the middle labeled ‘Throwing Spear Launcher,’ and directly adjusted the knob to the ‘High’ setting.

Following this, steel throwing spears shot out from the launcher’s barrel like a barrage of cannon fire!

“Ding ding dang dang!”

The spears struck Rein’s floating Kite Shield, sending sparks flying in a lively display!

After several tests, a smile appeared on Rein’s face.

“Hardened Essence Gold is proficient in physical defense, achieving nearly 55 degrees of defensive power against physical attacks!”

Thinking further, Rein casually picked up a steel shield nearby and cast ‘Metal Barrier.’ Soon, the testing power greatly diminished, with the steel shield being quickly punctured and shattered under the high-speed, dense assault of throwing spears.

“If it were a regular steel shield using ‘Metal Barrier,’ the defensive power would only be about 39 degrees, a difference of more than ten degrees in defensive power.”

Immediately afterwards, Rein walked over to the witchcraft attack power testing device that was smeared with Magic Silver.

Similar to a large metal cylinder, it lay across tracks resembling railway tracks, with its round cross-section facing the viewer, albeit the cross-section was a different color, showing a dark silver metallic luster.

Rein simply tested it with ‘Blazing Light,’ an entry-level fire witchcraft spell.

The surface of the Magic Silver was almost completely unscathed.

“Indeed, as the young clerk said, Magic Silver seems to have an extremely high resistance to energy damage.”

“In that case, my previous idea should be feasible.”

“Perhaps I could prepare a few metals with high resistances; not too many, just about a dozen kilograms, enough to morph into a Kite Shield size.”

“Facing enemies with different specializations, I could adopt specific metals for defense.”

“Hey, looking at it this way, I seem to have stumbled upon an unexpected benefit by having ‘Metal Morphing Spell’ as my innate wizardry.” Rein’s eyes brightened.

Other Wizards, even those who also specialize in metal, wouldn’t be able to use Rein’s method if their innate wizardry wasn’t ‘Metal Morphing Spell.’

If it’s not innate wizardry, it’s almost impossible to achieve near-instantaneity and minimal consumption of spiritual power.

Can’t the transformation be done in advance?

It’s possible.

But can you imagine a Wizard carrying three or four shields all the time, with a total weight of nearly fifty kilograms? Not only would it greatly affect his mobility, but wouldn’t that look rather odd?

But Rein was different; as a Great Knight who partook in the profession, he routinely wore plate armor. With a few modifications to some armor pieces, it could be both concealed and practical.

Besides, physical strength was one of Rein’s forte. After all, just add points for a quick recovery!

Having thought this over, Rein walked out of the testing room.

He planned to make a trip to the Exchange Hall to see if there were any suitable special alloys or rare metals available.

…

Inside the Exchange Hall.

The young clerk stood up and bowed, saying, “Hello, what can I assist you with, sir?”

“This is a replica of the Emperor’s Scepter, and also help me look up rare metals and alloys available for exchange.”

“Of course, sir, could you please show your insignia?”

Rein nodded and handed over his freshly minted crystal insignia.

Upon seeing it, the clerk showed a slight startle and took the insignia with even more respect, quickly placing it into a specially made adapter slot. Soon, white text started to appear on a black slate in front of Rein.

“Starmetal ingot, possesses strong toughness and hardness… Exchange price: 20 Merit Points per pound.”

“Mithril ingot, excellent in element energy conductivity… Exchange price: 140 Merit Points per pound.”

“Hardened Essence Gold ingot, extremely high hardness… Exchange price: 24 Merit Points per pound.”

“Magic Silver ingot, extremely high resistance to elemental energy… Exchange price: 180 Merit Points per pound.”

“Glowstone ingot, cast from Glowstone with the special effect of driving away evil… Exchange price: 120 Merit Points per pound.”

…

“Sir, which one would you like to exchange?”

“Start with twenty pounds of Magic Silver.”

“Sor… Sorry, how much did you say?” the young clerk was stunned!

This was a princely sum of 180 Merit Points per pound.

For twenty pounds, that would be 3600 Merit Points.

Oh my!

“Twenty pounds,” Rein said patiently once more.

“Alright… right away, sir. I’ll get it for you now,” she said.

The young clerk was about to turn around when suddenly, Rein called out to her.

“Wait, there’s more, note this down.”

The girl blinked in astonishment, staring at Rein.

He wants more!

“Sure, sir, please go ahead,” the girl quickly recovered.

“Glowstone ingot, twenty pounds, Hardened Essence Gold ingot, twenty pounds, uh… that will be all,” Rein said.

Magic Silver essentially covered all-around energy resistances, and although it might not match some rare mineral specialized in a specific energy resistance, the difference wasn’t too significant.

Moreover, there were none available in the branch.

Furthermore, Rein hadn’t expected to find Glowstone in the branch and decided to exchange some right away, since it was extremely useful against Spiritual Bodies and the undead.

The Hardened Essence Gold was to replenish the losses from the battles he fought recently.

The young clerk was stunned!

All she could do was hastily confirm:

“Sir, let me summarize for you. Glowstone ingot, twenty pounds, totaling 2400 Merit Points; Hardened Essence Gold ingot, twenty pounds, totaling 480 Merit Points, plus the earlier Magic Silver for 3600 Merit Points.”

“That comes to a total of 6480 Merit Points. Is that correct, sir?”

“Yes, that’s correct,” Rein nodded.

“Please wait a moment, I’ll fetch them for you right now,” she said.
