Chapter 758: Chapter 290: The Situation (2-in-1 Long Chapter)_3

He grasped the crystal prism with both hands, closed his eyes to concentrate, and began the test.

As spiritual power was infused, the crystal on the prism quickly radiated a bright white light, and at the same time, the originally transparent prism began to pulsate with various colors of light.

When the light finally stabilized, Rein slowly opened his eyes and carefully examined the scale imprinted on it.

On the upper layer of the crystal was a long ribbon of silver mist, and after a quick calculation of the difference between the top and the bottom, it reached an astonishing 93.6.

That was a significant improvement from the original 84.2.

But this was within Rein’s expectations.

Because his Steel Body talent had evolved from intermediate to advanced, driving the affinity for the metal element, which should have been unchanging, to rise once again.

Nevertheless…

Rein was more concerned about and curious about the length of the long ribbon of red mist in the middle.

“The value at the red tip is 80, while the red end is 2, a difference of 72!”

“My own Fire Element affinity was originally 71.8, an increase of 0.2.

“It really did have an enhancing effect!”

“The level 15 Fire Bear Breathing Technique only increased my Fire Element affinity by 0.2.”

“I guess that’s why the ancestors never discovered it, or accurately, why they didn’t care about it.”

“However, there’s still a crucial link missing from reaching my desired goal, but that’s alright, I can start practicing it first…”

…

After returning to his dormitory from the training hall, Rein didn’t hesitate for long and immediately chose to pursue fusion breathing techniques.

Immediately, the Weapon Master (Legendary) panel flickered a few times as the level 15 Fire Bear Breathing Technique vanished, only to be replaced by the words ‘Unknown Breathing Technique.’

Soon, the number settled at level 14.

“Eh? It only dropped by one level this time?”

To know, when the level 18 Bear King Breathing Technique was converted, it had dropped by a full three levels.

Rein was slightly surprised, but quickly realized why.

The quality of the Fire Bear Breathing Technique was originally quite high, so the drop in level after fusion was much less this time.

Meanwhile, a torrent of memories about the vast breathing techniques began to flood into Rein’s mind…

Once he absorbed this stream of memory, a system prompt followed:

[Yes/No – Would you like to rename the new breathing technique?]

This made Rein slightly frown.

“Going by the rule of taking the first character of each breathing technique for the name, this new breathing technique can’t be called ‘Fire Fire Bear Breathing Technique,’ can it?”

“What about calling it Flame Bear Breathing Technique?”

“What if I fused it with other techniques that begin with the character for fire?”

“Blaze Bear Breathing Technique?”

“Alright… then it can only be called Yan Bear Breathing Technique, and no more.”

Rein felt his obsessive-compulsive tendencies kicking in.

“Forget it, let’s go with something more grand. I’ll call it Fire Dragon Breathing Technique! It’s settled in one go, no matter what other techniques I fuse with in the future, it will have this name.”

Having witnessed the grandeur of the red dragon belonging to the Imperial Dragon Knight Menia, Rein found its fierce yet slender form quite to his aesthetic taste.

With the renaming complete, Rein reviewed the movements and postures of the Fire Dragon Breathing Technique in his mind and found there were an unprecedented twenty-nine moves.

“This must be the very pinnacle even among the excellent breathing techniques, right?”

Just as Rein was about to head back to the exchange hall, a knock on the door rang out.

“Knock, knock, knock!”

Opening the door, Rein saw a guard from the Sword Bearers Branch.

The guard bowed slightly and spoke respectfully, “Lord Rein, there is a man outside who claims to be Viscount Fabien of Yakesen Auction House who wishes to meet with you.”

Hmm?

Yakesen Auction House?

This made Rein’s eyes narrow slightly, a hint of anger flaring up in his heart, along with a trace of caution.

Previously, Cleya had revealed that Yakesen Auction House operated on a shareholder system, with each of the shareholders being either a Duke or a Marquis, and their influence was deeply entrenched in the Empire.

Besides, it was rumored to have the backing of the Empire’s second prince.

Which is why, when Rein was attacked on the street by the “Ice Messenger” Grant, he had not immediately sought retaliation.

But this time, at Earl Habbs’ mansion, he had been attacked once more.

Even a clay Buddha has some degree of anger.

Rein was already considering whether he should take the initiative to strike back.

Although the Imperial City was too far away, Mingster also housed a branch of Yakesen Auction House.

“Alright, tell him I’ll be right there,” Rein made up his mind and said to the guard.

“As you command, Lord Rein.”

…

—————–

Atop the Meister Sea.

The Imperial Navy had assembled over a hundred warships, large and small, engaged in sporadic combat with the Sea Clan.

In the sky, Menia rode atop a slender giant dragon with a fiery red complexion, searching for the traces of the three-headed sea dragon.

Suddenly, the small wizard array on the front of her red Wizard Robe flickered a bit.

Menia touched it with her pale fingers, and soon the small wizard array flashed white, carrying an elderly voice:

“Menia, His Majesty has decided to make a push for Demigod status on the last Sunday of the month of green grass. Please make sure to return to the Imperial City within three days.”

It was a message-like transmission wizard array.

Hearing this, Menia’s brows furrowed and concern showed on her face as she murmured:

“So soon?”

“Has the situation become so critical?”

“Why won’t His Majesty wait a bit longer…”

After thinking for a moment, Menia silently chanted a spell and danced her fingers to form a complex and mysterious symbol, then said:

“I will return on time.”

Shortly after, the small wizard array on her chest flashed white again, swallowing up the mysterious symbol.
