Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Lux was ultimately a step too late.

Gao Yuanyi, transformed into a giant fireball, swung his massive fist, striking Yongfang Chunlan, who lay on the ground.

In an instant, the surrounding ground crumbled, and the icy seawater surged, crashing upon the nearby ruins.

The rapidly running Lux heard nothing, only seeing the last bit of blood in Yongfang Chunlan’s Blood Bar being completely drained by Gao Yuanyi...

He watched as the numbers representing her life quickly plummeted at a speed visible to the naked eye, eventually turning to zero.

Lux didn’t know what to say, countless images flooded his mind once more.

Yongfang Chunlan, since childhood, was a very sensible child, needing no care; she was also a very smart child, able to perfectly resolve any matter given to her in no time; she was also a very patient person, otherwise, she couldn’t have waited for his return across hundreds of years.

Yet such a person died in front of him in this manner.

Clearly, he wanted to prevent this very situation, which is why he didn’t want her involved. But ultimately...

Lux’s will momentarily wavered as he witnessed a companion with whom he shared days and nights perish before his eyes.

Within him, another soul hazily opened its eyes.

Where am I... truly? What on earth am I doing...?

It feels like a long, long time has passed, yet also like not much time at all.

My name is...

”Vorquis!”

In the fog, the young man seemed to hear a voice calling his name.

That voice, extremely familiar, a voice he had heard countless times.

Who exactly... is calling my name?

”Vorquis! Vorquis!”

The familiar voice echoed once more in Vorquis’s ears, a blurry figure gradually appeared before him, a girl with feathers and claws.

The appearance was a bit unclear to Vorquis.

”Vorquis! Vorquis! Quickly come back to my side! Don’t let that detestable Ancient Brave Warrior occupy your body! Use your will to defeat him!”

Occupy the body...

At first, Vorquis didn’t understand what the voice meant.

Suddenly, a scene flashed before his eyes, it was the Village of Heroes being massacred.

Vorquis was instantly drenched in cold sweat, the whiteness surrounding him quickly receded, revealing a completely unfamiliar scene.

The houses were shattered, traces of battle spread all around, in the distance, a Ghost Clan man equipped with mechanical arms slowly lifted his fist from a corpse, trailing lines of blood.

Demon Clan...

Why is the Demon Clan in front of me?

Vorquis felt something strange somewhere.

His vision, limited to one eye, his body frozen in place, no matter how Vorquis moved or controlled it, his body didn’t react at all.

At this moment, that familiar voice once again echoed in Vorquis’s ears:

”Vorquis! Vorquis! Wake up quickly! I beg you! Quickly awaken, don’t become his puppet...”

That voice, with heart-wrenching sorrow, Vorquis’s eyes frantically moved, looking towards the direction the voice came from.

A Hapi Girl with blue wings desperately flapped her wings in midair, trying to maintain her balance.

Seeing his eyes turning her way, the Hapi Girl cried with joy, flapped her wings even more vigorously, clumsily flying towards him.

But at that moment, a radiant Light Arrow unexpectedly streaked across the sky.

Hapi noticed the arrows coming, but it was too late to dodge, the radiant Light Arrow mercilessly pierced through Hapi’s chest, pouring out crimson liquid, blue feathers scattered in the sky.

The life instantly faded from Hapi’s eyes, she fell like a kite with a broken string, plummeting to the ground.

Another scene appeared before Vorquis’s eyes.

It was on the harbor, Lux controlling his body and killing Yixuan!

”Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!”

In an instant, Vorquis understood everything happening now, his spirit connected with something, actually regaining partial control over his body.

Lux came to, sensing Vorquis’s awakening, seeing not far away Hapi’s corpse.

Yang Yu and their plan instantly became clear in Lux’s mind.

So, they aimed at her on purpose, not as they said, wanting to deal with my assistant, but wanting to hit me, awaken another soul inside of me?

From the beginning they knew, relying on their strength, dragging it out would only end in defeat at the hands of the Demon King.

So...

They resorted to such a despicable trick in the end.

No matter how strong the Devil King’s Power is, as long as Vorquis can retake control of his body, there’ll still be a way.

Hearing the howl rising, Gao Yuanyi slowly left Yongfang Chunlan’s body, letting out a long breath:

”My Task, completed.”

Lux lifted his hand, pinched his mouth, stopping the prolonged roar, and said:

”Do you really think you can use this method to deal with me?

Naive. So very naive.

Thanks to your reminder, I remember I have another soul within me, and it just so happens I remembered something else.

I don’t need to be this anxious at all.”

Pausing, Lux lowered his head, as if speaking to someone, murmuring:

”Don’t waste your effort trying to regain control of your body.

You cannot do it.

You don’t have a will as strong as mine.

Back then, we experimented. You remained helpless as you were then.

Take a good look, what lies over there isn’t the person you love, but... a Slime.

The person you love has been completely killed by me.

They really went to great lengths to awaken you.

But as I said, even if you use all your power, you cannot regain your body from me.

Don’t worry about what I’ll do to you, once I finish everything I need to do, I’ll return this body to you, and even help you resurrect your dead Hapi.

I really lost my composure, knowing we have that technology, yet was in such a panic, so flustered.

Even if our technology fails, as long as we can successfully awaken the Sea Mother, the technology there will surely be able to resurrect the dead.”

Lux spoke so confidently, no longer showing any signs of previous sadness and regret.

Yes... even in death, one can be resurrected, why panic when she’ll always be by my side, as long as the number of resurrections isn’t too many.

Lux continued to console himself inwardly.

At this moment, a voice suddenly came from behind Lux:

”Who can guarantee that you can certainly bring them back to life?”
