Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

”I am not resigned.

I’m not resigned at all.

Why did it end up like this?

Why can you humans become so strong?

We are obviously much better than you...”

Baal knelt on both knees, the black magic power that composed him quietly slipping away from his body uncontrollably.

Yang Yu gazed at the dissipating Baal, not putting away his sword but cautiously watching from the side, casually answering Baal’s question:

”No need to doubt it. There’s definitely the help of the goddess involved.

Because of the various conveniences she provided, we can become so strong now.

But the hardships and challenges we’ve faced along this path are not fake either.

You demons, you were also very weak at the beginning.

To defeat the angels, you suffered a lot before becoming so strong.”

Baal was at a loss for words. If he hadn’t chosen betrayal back then, would he have come to a different end today?

No one could give Baal an answer.

Even if he hadn’t chosen betrayal at that time, Baal believed that in the end, they demons would have betrayed humans after undergoing trial after trial.

They might never see the day they defeat the goddess.

Opening the system panel, Yang Yu pulled up the task bar,

”In the history I’ve learned, there is no history of you fighting the goddess.

I’m sure you hate me greatly for killing you.

But I still want to boldly ask, in your memory, what is the goddess really like and what power does she possess.”

Baal laughed softly, seemingly accepting his failure as his will began to fade with his body’s dissolution.

”When you see it, you’ll know. Or perhaps...”

Leaving his last words in this world, Baal completely disappeared before Yang Yu.

However, the barrier left by Baal and the burning black flames did not dissolve slowly due to his disappearance, still maintaining their original form.

Even the black weapon that Gao Yuanyi kept attacking had a mind of its own, launching attacks at Gao Yuanyi at will.

A bead dropped with a ”clack” onto the ground, rolling in front of Yang Yu.

It was Baal’s Demon Gathering Core.

As long as the Demon Gathering Core is present, no matter how many times demons die, they will resurrect near the Demon Gathering Core.

In the end, Baal did not shoot his Demon Gathering Core at Yang Yu or Gao Yuanyi. He still held on to the thought that if Yang Yu and his group intended to wield his power, he could come back to this world.

Yang Yu stared at the small bead in front of him for a long time.

The materials constructing the Demon Gathering Core were not hard, breaking it was as easy as pie.

Although it looked like an ordinary ping-pong ball, the level of technology contained inside it was beyond the imagination of the ordinary person.

After thinking it over, Yang Yu finally lifted his foot and smashed the Demon Gathering Core of Demon Bal to pieces.

Considering what he had to do next, perhaps it would be better to leave the possibility of Demon Bal’s resurrection.

But...

Demons are ultimately failed weapons of the past.

They will probably always deny the significance of their creation until they attach what they think is a rational meaning to their survival.

Even the ancient humans had no assurance of reversing their mindset, and Yang Yu didn’t believe that just by talking he could change the deeply ingrained thoughts of the demons from the abyss of millennia.

Leaving demons by his side is undoubtedly leaving a ticking time bomb for himself.

If a sect like the Curse Sect re-emerged, it would certainly bring a series of troubles to him or his descendants.

Although Yang Yu wasn’t sure if that kind of possibility existed now, since the demons’ battle intent was fake, it was necessary to avoid unnecessary nightmares.

The task completion message popped up on the task bar, formally putting an end to the fight between Yang Yu and Demon Bal.

In the sky, Bai Jin continued to organize her magic.

Dispelling the Black Flames turned out to be more complex and time-consuming than she had imagined.

Bai Jin was not impatient.

Even amidst the tense and fierce battle between Yang Yu and Baal, she remained unperturbed, steadily completing her magic.

A complex golden Magic Array formed in the sky, as Bai Jin poured a golden stream towards the black flames covering Lotcar.

The vast, vibrant golden stream instantly extinguished a large area of black flames, producing magic steam with a hint of healing effect.

Qiuye was instantly enveloped by this unique golden mist, nervously looking towards where Lotcar was.

Seeing Gao Yuanyi engulfed in black flames rushing into the barrier, Qiuye was truly startled, wanting also to enter the barrier cloaked in black flames to help Yang Yu, but considering her earlier performance, Qiuye decided to wait and only barge in when Yang Yu truly needed her.

In the mist, Lotcar staggered to his feet, the black magic that attacked him having completely vanished.

Qiuye noticed Lotcar getting up, and dashed over immediately.

But before Qiuye could reach Lotcar’s side, Lotcar swayed and fell to the ground again, small strands of black magic continually leaping on his body.

Riding the Hemeng Little Plane, Iyas landed steadily beside Lotcar, extending both hands to release gentle Holy Light, dispelling the crackling black currents on Lotcar and quickly healing his wounds.

Bai Jin and Tico then quickly flew towards the towering barrier.

Li Yan infused his magic power into the barrier, witnessing a complex Magic Technique he had never seen before.

Bai Jin, never one to hoard knowledge, immediately shared the ancient knowledge she acquired, and the three of them worked together to dismantle the enormous barrier.

But this barrier, even with mechanical aids used by ancient humans, would still take about a dozen seconds to dismantle... Bai Jin and her group had to rely on their own computing power, uncertain when it would be undone.

Yang Yu took out a potion from the system, sipping it lightly to restore a bit of blood and magic, bringing his health line back to a level that allowed some room for error even in danger.

Yang Yu also tossed a bottle to Gao Yuanyi not far away.

The black weapon controlled by Baal at least had a pattern to its attacks, but the ones with their own consciousness were like a chaotic mess, and Gao Yuanyi spent a lot of time bringing them all down.

Confirming Baal’s life and death through the system panel, Gao Yuanyi inserted a straw into the potion Yang Yu handed him, took a sip, and sighed:

”Finally, I’ve taken care of the mess on this end.

Thinking about the problem not being fully resolved makes my scalp tingle.

I mean...

Never mind, it’s not wise to set up a flag at this point.”

Gao Yuanyi hesitated, but Yang Yu took the initiative to start a conversation, suddenly asking:

”Yuan Yi, what do you think about the system and the goddess?”

Yang Yu had many things he wanted to ask, but they eventually condensed into a simple question.

Gao Yuanyi crossed his arms, furrowing his brows and thinking for a long time:

”I don’t have any special thoughts.

Isn’t this a special benefit issued by the officials?

Alright, you don’t need to worry so much about it.

If there’s anything, it won’t be too late to ask the goddess when you see her.

Aren’t you just about to meet her?”

Yang Yu nodded heavily and said, ”That’s right, some questions can only be answered by asking her directly.”
