Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

On their way here, Yang Yu and the others sensed the intense magic fluctuation generated by the combination of Lox and the Demon King’s power.

The intense magic fluctuation caused an impact, destroying the houses near Lox, turning them into rubble, forming a fierce storm.

Small debris flew randomly, and Tico hurriedly opened a barrier, blocking all the flying fragments.

Lotcar braved the strong wind, leading Yang Yu and the others forward.

About five or six minutes later, the fierce storm abruptly stopped, but a mysterious fog began to permeate the surroundings again.

Speeding up, Lotcar carried Yang Yu and the group, finally reaching the central platform of the Demon King City.

On top of the platform is the command center where the Demon King resides.

Lox, is probably there.

The surrounding mysterious fog is not dense, except for the top of the platform, where thick mysterious fog shows no sign of dissipating.

Or perhaps the fog here hasn’t dissipated simply because it’s being filled with new mysterious fog.

Li Yan sharply noticed that the mysterious fog permeating the central platform of the Demon King City is quite different from the previous fog that filled the Demon King City.

”It seems we’re a step too late.”

Just as Li Yan finished speaking, Lotcar heard a series of crisp footsteps.

A figure slowly emerged from the mysterious fog, descending the steps, walking towards Yang Yu and the others step by step.

Bai Jin and the others instantly became tense, ready to engage in battle at any moment.

As the footsteps came closer, the figure became clearer.

Black armor exuded might, emitting a faint purple-black gleam, a black helmet obscuring the person’s face, rendering their appearance indistinguishable, though a hint of purple flame flickered constantly beneath their helmet.

”Demon King?

Has this time’s victor been the Demon King?

Could the Demon King actually defeat the Hero?”

Qiuye exclaimed incredulously, unable to hide the surprise in his heart.

”Don’t jump to conclusions so quickly.”

Looking at the head of the Demon King, Yang Yu spoke to the black figure that had approached,

”The dragon slayer ultimately becomes the evil dragon.

Hero Lox, you seem to have become the new Demon King.

Am I right?”

The armored figure didn’t immediately respond, instead silently removing his helmet, revealing the face of the Heroic Warrior Volcrix.

Seeing the face of the Heroic Warrior Volcrix, Yang Yu secretly breathed a sigh of relief, teasingly saying:

”You really gave me a fright.

I thought you had transferred your consciousness into the Demon King’s body, using some despicable trick to win against the Demon King.

But it appears.

You truly relied on your own strength to slay the Demon King.

Just after killing the Demon King, you tirelessly stripped all the equipment off him, putting it on yourself.

What an eccentric taste.

If it were me, I would probably wash it before wearing it.”

Lox looked down at Yang Yu, slowly speaking:

”Your strength.

One could say, is above mine.

If you faced the Demon King, perhaps you could easily defeat him.

Afterwards, you would be called heroes, celebrated by the people of this world.

But what meaning would that hold?

If you knew the life of this Demon King... no, the previous Demon King, would you be able to harden your hearts to kill him, and feel justified in being celebrated as heroes by the world?”

”Does that mean you are very clear about the life of the previous Demon King?”

The Demon King Lox slowly spoke:

”The Demon King and the Hero have been in opposition for thousands of years.

In the past, many human troops have tried to penetrate the Demon World.

Some aimed to disrupt the Demon King Army’s attacks from behind, while others sought to annihilate the Demon King from the source.

Most of them were driven back to this world, but a few remained forever in the Demon World.

It happened in my era as well.

Speaking of which, the leader of that operation was also an apostle of the goddess like you.

The difference is, he did not stand at the front lines, but commanded his gathered troops to infiltrate the Demon World.

Their whereabouts naturally got discovered.

In the panic, a thrill-seeking adventurer ventured deep into the Demon World, encountering a fallen noble’s demon girl.”

”Wait, I know how this plot goes.

That adventurer and the fallen noble demon girl fell in love, and then they gave birth to the current Demon King, right?” Yang Yu quipped.

Lox shook his head:

”To be precise, what was born between them was the father of the Demon King.

He too was a hero with the world in his heart.

Because of his right guidance, the current Demon King became a man of such caliber.

I was greatly surprised, even in his era, he awakened such a consciousness.

...similar to mine, yet slightly different in consciousness.

If I could form a bridge of mutual trust with him, perhaps I could become a confidant with whom he would share everything.

If not for that damn goddess and angel meddling, the world would have stepped into the future we imagined.”

Lox spoke while looking at Yang Yu:

”That book, you should still be holding it.

The travel to the Nine-Life Cat Demon Kingdom, what kind of journey was it for you?”

Yang Yu’s lips slightly curved into a smile:

”It truly was the best journey; it solved many of my curiosities in one go.

Thanks to this, I’ve basically come to understand this world.

The only pity is that you hid all traces of you and your partners, leading us to not fully grasp your thoughts, and not clearly seeing at which point your change occurred.

Hero Lox, you wanted to aspire to become the greatest Hero, why did you end up as the Demon King?”

Lox sneered:

”You say you’ve basically understood this world.

Yet to ask such foolish questions now, it shows you do not understand this world at all.

Paying no attention to what the diary says.

So, back then, you hurriedly returned from the Nine-Life Cat Demon Kingdom.

Even though there were so many unknowns awaiting your exploration, you turned your head directly and returned to this world, missing such a great opportunity.

I initially had hope for you, thinking you might be somewhat different from them.

Again, I am disappointed.

Faced with the goddess’s temptation, you ultimately could not resist.

Someone as smart as you cannot possibly misunderstand what the diary says, nor fail to understand its represented meaning.

Did you deliberately ignore these things, or decide to act oblivious despite knowing?

You ultimately chose to side with them, even if it means sacrificing countless lives of compatriots!

Answer me.

Tell me your true thoughts!”

Yang Yu took a long sigh, slowly began to speak.
