Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

”Since you won’t move in the fire, I’ll use another powerful skill to force you into action.”

This is indeed a practical and effective strategy.

Move within the black flames or endure the control and damage of the fire vortex; neither choice is good.

But, it doesn’t have to be just those two options.

Yang Yu looked down at his feet, and Gao Yuanyi understood, nodding as he raised his gigantic mechanical arm.

A golden light flashed in his eyes, and Gao Yuanyi activated [Breaking Cauldrons and Sinking Boats], unleashing his strength, as a green grid lit up inside Laplace,

”[Death Burst]!”

[Death Burst], capable of dealing 1000% of the user’s strength as single-target physical damage.

The battle hadn’t been going on for long, Gao Yuanyi hadn’t stacked much of [War Addict] and [Fierce Battle Spirit]’s passive layers, but even without much stacking, the skill’s multiplier was already sufficient.

Lux watched Gao Yuanyi’s every move amid the flames, not intending to get close.

He planned to react based on Yang Yu and his team’s actions.

If Gao Yuanyi performed a desperate final struggle, he intended to mercilessly crush both of their hopes.

But Gao Yuanyi had no intention of rushing over to beat Lux up; instead, he aimed his massive mechanical fist downward, smashing through the soaring red flames onto the giant square they stood upon.

Instantly, the ground shook, the giant square shattered into countless cracks, and debris shot skyward.

Yang Yu raised his sword blade, frantically swatting at the flying debris.

The debris shot towards Lux like bullets.

Lux didn’t bother to defend, allowing the flaming debris to strike his hard black armor, shattering into even smaller pieces, burning down as they fell.

”With your combat experience, you shouldn’t come up with such a foolish attack...”

Before Lux could finish, with a ”crack,” a huge crack appeared beneath his feet in the cube, causing it to tilt backward.

Yang Yu and Gao Yuanyi jumped into the massive crack without hesitation, avoiding the spiraling flames shooting up.

Magic has many rules and patterns.

To prevent the meticulously crafted magic from harming the user, or the magic striking useless places and wasting Magic Power, most magic has a strong directional flow, only pouring energy towards one side of the Magic Array.

Faced with a sky-covering super large magic, as long as you find a way to fly above the giant magic array, you can avoid being bombarded by it.

The [Red Flame Tornado] used by Lux was extremely powerful and also had strong directionality.

When casting ground-supported magic, a magician wouldn’t wish to waste large amounts of magic power on ”digging holes.” Unless they are a Sub-human Race adept at burrowing, it generally wouldn’t occur to people to avoid enemy magic by hiding underground.

This point precisely gave Yang Yu and his team an opportunity to exploit.

Lux divided the central high platform of Demon King City into square blocks for attacks, which also greatly aided Yang Yu and his team.

It was these blocks with gaps between them that gave Yang Yu and his team other choices.

Unfortunately, while Yang Yu and his team might evade the flame vortex brought by [Red Flame Tornado], they couldn’t fully avoid Lux’s personally controlled black flames.

Realizing Yang Yu and his team’s small actions and intentions, Lux poured the black flames into the cracks like filling them with cement.

Even though Gao Yuanyi’s previous strike was powerful, due to the material constraints of the block, it didn’t break open a large crack, just enough for one person to pass through with difficulty, with many debris blocking the way.

Facing the incoming black flames, Yang Yu adjusted his shield, switching [Broken Cocoon Butterfly] into cocoon form.

In cocoon form, [Broken Cocoon Butterfly] has the ability to change size.

Focusing, he willed the shield to change size to cover himself. A layer of crimson surrounded Yang Yu, and in an instant, he shot through the gap like a red cannonball, creating a narrow path.

Gao Yuanyi closely followed Yang Yu, rushing to the edge of the cube in one breath.

Yang Yu had already calculated the timing.

When they reached the edge of the cube and saw the Light Veil, the Light Veil surrounding them just ended, slowly dissipating.

They jumped forward together, arching their bodies and raising their shields. Yang Yu’s feet firmly landed on the vertical plane of a nearby cube, then quickly raised his shield to support Gao Yuanyi.

Knowing Yang Yu and his team’s route of action, Lux directed the surrounding cubes to crash into the block he was on.

Activating [Climbing], Yang Yu carried a trail of sparks and electricity, once again climbing onto the block’s flat top.

With several booming sounds, the cubes collided, the black flames chasing Yang Yu and his team were pushed upwards by the pressing cubes, forming a black flame curtain.

Iyas’s Light Arrow curved several times in the sky, hitting Yang Yu and Gao Yuanyi accurately once more, healing their wounds.

Currently, Yang Yu and his team’s blood volume was still relatively healthy, at least enough to withstand a blow from another super large magic.

The attributes weakened by the black flames began to recover gradually. But before Yang Yu and his team could catch their breath, Lux’s figure completely vanished in the flames.

Lux used displacement magic again, and in the blink of an eye, he closed the distance with Lotcar, launching another attack on Yang Yu and his backline.

The attack was blocked by the Slime, merely a tiny mistake.

This time, it won’t be like before.

Bai Jin and the others had prepared as soon as the Light Veil vanished, opting for area attack magic with controlling characteristics.

Facing an opponent like Lux, the hit rate of single-target magic would likely be low; only by blocking the potential movement positions of Lux could they halt his attack and approach.

Pure white snow mixed with electric light surged towards the approaching Lux, coating the cubes in a smooth ice layer, countless ice cones rising from the smooth ice surface, shattering into countless particles of floating ice mist under the blast of lightning.

With a swing of the Holy Sword, a sacred shield rose from Lux’s feet, enveloping him.

Within the shield, Lux’s actions were entirely unaffected by Bai Jin and their magic. The Holy Light Shield protecting him not only negated damage but also provided immunity to a certain extent of control.

The shield skill used by Lux is quite a common skill among heroes of successive generations; Bai Jin and the others certainly wouldn’t ignore countermeasures against this skill.

Focusing and connecting with the Magic Power in the ice mist, Bai Jin spun his magic wand, layering a thick cover of ice crystals on Lux’s protective shield.

Like stalactites slowly growing in caves, Lux’s formidable Shield was adorned with thick ice crystals, significantly slowing his speed.
