Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

The last question was answered, and Yang Yu looked at the task titled [Elf and Goddess] on the panel.

For a long time, the progress of this task had been stalled. Yang Yu had tried expressing numerous speculations to the panel, but none showed signs of advancing the task.

Mingtu Saiqiute’s views on the goddess and the elves were almost identical to Ailena’s, so it probably wouldn’t push the progress bar either.

But Yang Yu still saw hope in conquering this task.

The angel guiding the elves through their transformation must know some secrets.

Additionally, Guardian Klorchi from the Hall of Power had mentioned that the Demon King Army seemed to be searching for something, too.

If the angel and the Demon King Army were looking for the same thing, finding the angel might just bring him closer to the world’s truth.

Unfortunately, the angel seemed excellent at concealing their tracks, and finding them in the vast sea of people was like looking for a needle in a haystack.

The descent of the Demon King wasn’t far off, and Yang Yu and his team didn’t have time to find a needle in a haystack. They could only hope that the needle they were seeking would happen to appear on their path or suddenly leap out from nowhere to meet them.

Though he still wanted to talk with Yang Yu and his friends about his experiences, it was getting late. Mingtu Saiqiute took off the key hanging around his chest and solemnly handed it to Yang Yu:

”Congratulations again on clearing the Hall of Will.

Since you have no further questions, it’s about time we part.

Through our conversation, I’ve learned a lot about you, and you are worthy of this key.”

”Thank you for being willing to share your life’s experiences. We’ve gained a lot of intelligence that will be useful, so our visit wasn’t in vain.”

Receiving the key from Mingtu Saiqiute, Yang Yu tapped on the system panel and opened the inventory.

With this key, Yang Yu finally collected all five keys to the Lux Maze.

As long as the five keys are placed together, the purpose of Hero Lux should be revealed.

But Yang Yu didn’t plan to put all these keys together just yet.

What changes these five keys might bring are still unknown.

The Curse Sect, Goblin Emperor, and Count Blood’s matters were still unresolved, and facing a potentially extremely difficult super-sized task could be overwhelming.

So Yang Yu planned to wait until at least one or two threats were eliminated before bringing the keys together.

Storing the key separately in an item slot, Yang Yu said to Mingtu Saiqiute:

”To be honest, tackling this Underground Maze did involve quite a bit of risk on our part.

Don’t be fooled by how coordinated we appeared on the Ninth Floor; in reality, we and those Spiny Scale Lizards were enemies.

The longer we dragged it out, the more those Spiny Scale Lizards would distrust us.

If possible, just send us back to the sea surface, and we’ll leave on our own.”

Hearing Yang Yu’s request, Mingtu Saiqiute knocked on his head playfully,

”This Underground Maze is located beneath the sea. It was built with the consideration that non-swimming races might come to conquer it, so I set the teleportation array for clearing this maze on the first floor.

After constructing it, I realized that those who could reach and conquer this Underground Maze should all have measures to deal with drowning. Setting the teleportation array on the first floor was really unnecessary.”

Yang Yu was speechless for a moment, ”Did you never think about changing it back after making the change?”

”This was my first time building an Underground Maze. Besides, setting it on the first floor isn’t much different from just letting people exit the maze directly, so I just left it as it is.”

Sighing helplessly, Yang Yu said, ”Just tell me that’s how the maze was designed in the first place.

Suddenly knowing the truth leaves me feeling quite intrigued now.

Oh well, the first floor, let it be the first floor then!”

Yang Yu glanced at He Meng, perched on Bai Jin’s shoulder, ”He Meng, prepare to transform.”

Displeased, He Meng wriggled and indicated to Yang Yu that since the Underground Maze had already been conquered, they should be able to charge out unchallenged with their power, without needing to disguise themselves as Spiny Scale Lizards.

Yang Yu refused on the spot, urging He Meng to stop dawdling and transform quickly.

Though He Meng wasn’t wrong, it was better to avoid unnecessary trouble.

These Spiny Scale Lizards and Fishmen weren’t particularly strong, and as long as they didn’t engage in open conflict, Yang Yu felt there was no need for needless slaughter or eradication.

Some races, once they’re gone, are truly gone.

After being persuaded, He Meng finally gave in to Yang Yu’s ceaseless urging, jumped off Bai Jin’s shoulder, spun around in the air, and transformed into the form of Chongdu, glaring at Yang Yu with a single eye.

After confirming that everyone was ready, Yang Yu officially bid farewell to Mingtu Saiqiute.

Mingtu Saiqiute stood up and waved, and a large white teleportation array swiftly appeared under Yang Yu’s and his party’s feet, emitting bright white light.

”Take care on your journey.” Mingtu Saiqiute smiled, watching Yang Yu and his team as they were completely engulfed by the white light of the teleportation array.

After Yang Yu and his companions vanished entirely from the room, Mingtu Saiqiute slowly sat back in the chair, appearing somewhat lonely.

She hadn’t had a conversation like this with anyone in a long, long time and feared there would be no more such times in the future.

Having handed over Lux’s entrusted key, the only thing left was to distribute all the treasures of this maze, letting this Underground Maze disappear into the pages of history.

...

...

A flash of white light passed through their vision, and Yang Yu and his companions successfully returned to the first floor of the Hall of Will.

The Spiny Scale Lizards, responsible for guarding the maze, stood in a neat line. They weren’t welcoming Yang Yu and the others back triumphantly but were instead diligently carrying out their duty on the orders of a certain figure.

And that figure, not far from Yang Yu and his friends, was smiling slightly at them.

She had large black bat wings, two huge ram horns coiled atop her head, and a black tail with a heart-shaped tip trailing behind her. Her attire was particularly eye-catching, resembling employees in certain special services.

As soon as Yang Yu saw her, this Enchanting Demon smiled and greeted Yang Yu:

”You’ve worked hard, everyone. You have successfully conquered this Underground Maze.

My master is quite interested in you and would like to ask Lord Chongdu why the submarine wasn’t taken.

If you don’t mind, would you come with me to my master’s mansion for a chat?”

Yang Yu silently furrowed his brow, having just exited the Underground Maze, only to be warmly invited by an Enchanting Demon under Count Blood to visit the mansion.

He couldn’t tell if this was fortunate or unfortunate.

”Do I have a choice to refuse? We were only exploring the Underground Maze out of interest in conquering it.

Now that we’ve fully conquered it, our goal is complete.

I don’t know why your master is inviting us, but I must respectfully decline.”

In response to Yang Yu’s refusal, the Enchanting Demon Rosalind smiled slightly:

”Please reconsider. After all, my sisters Rodriza and Jin received quite a bit of your care when they were in the Luo Ze Empire.”
