Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Based on Artie’s reaction, Yang Yu deduced that Artie wasn’t stationed there to interview him, but as he said, it was just a chance encounter this time.

”Then let me first ask why you appeared here. Are you here to interview some important figure, or has the All Things Library assigned you some task?”

Pointing to the blazing sun above and then to a cold drink shop not far away, Artie said, ”Let’s talk somewhere else. Both your questions and my interview aren’t something that can be finished quickly.”

”Alright.”

Walking into the cold drink shop briskly, Yang Yu treated Artie to a cup of iced coffee. The two of them sat in the corner of the shop, while others nearby ordered their own cold drinks.

Artie snapped his fingers, and an invisible soundproof barrier spread out from him, enveloping both him and Yang Yu.

Sipping his iced coffee, Artie toyed with the pen in his hand and said:

”Continuing from earlier.

The reason why I am here, I don’t mind telling you. After all, that day is imminent.

We detected extremely distinct magic fluctuations in a certain sea area.

As everyone knows, long, long ago, the Ancient Brave Warrior, Lox, sank the Demon King City into the sea.

Various pieces of evidence indicate that the Demon King City is an essential tool connecting the Demon World and this world.

In a much more distant past, countless people tried to prevent the opening of the Demon World’s gates, but all ended in failure.

Only Lox...

Even now, we can’t say Lox succeeded. He seemed to only destroy the outer shell of the Demon King City but didn’t obliterate its true core. The gates between the two worlds can still be opened...

Thus, the prophecy of the Demon King’s descent came to be.

Based on past experiences, once the magic connecting the two worlds is activated, it cannot be stopped.

Precisely because we detected magic fluctuations similar to those recorded in the books, the higher-ups wanted me to go out to sea to monitor that area.

If anything happens, I can notify them immediately.

After all, we can’t determine the exact time of the Demon King’s descent right now, so this is very necessary.”

”Is it because the magic fluctuations caused by the Demon King’s descent would affect the surveillance magic that you’re not solely using it?” Yang Yu asked.

Artie laughed and said, ”Exactly. You know quite a lot.

That’s why someone must be sent in person.

It’s not just me. After detecting those particular magic fluctuations, various nations also sent representatives.

Due to the urgency, most of them directly sent mages studying at the All Things Library to form reconnaissance teams. They purchased a few ships from the Shell Sea Yacht and recruited experienced sailors to accompany them.

As an elder of the All Things Library, I am responsible not only for monitoring that area but also for the safety of other surveillance personnel.”

”I see, that really is a tough job. Constant surveillance, eating, drinking, and other necessities all have to be handled on the ship, and you don’t even know how long you’ll be there... quite something you took on this task.”

”It’s not all bad. If the Demon King descends, won’t I be the first to obtain information about the Demon King and his subordinates?”

Artie showed a calm smile. He was more aware than anyone of the danger of this task.

Especially after the Demon King descends, he might be asked to continue tracking the Demon King or his subordinates.

Once exposed, it’s practically a death sentence.

But when the Library Elders’ Council assigned him this task, Artie did not refuse.

Some things must be done by someone.

And Artie just chose to be that person, that’s all.

”Can you tell me how various nations are preparing for the impending invasion of the Demon King?” Yang Yu added, ”I know this is quite a confidential matter, and it will take some time before such issues are documented in the All Things Library archives... If you can’t say, a brief mention will do.”

After another sip of iced coffee, Artie leisurely crossed his legs and joked, ”Originally, such matters shouldn’t be casually discussed, but to tell a man of the world like the Colorful-haired Masked Man, there’s absolutely no issue.

With the appearance of the Enchanting Demon in the Luo Ze Empire, all countries have started worrying about whether their nations might be corroded by them.

The first step in warding off external threats is to secure internal security, especially under such a large backdrop.

Countries have already allied with the Goddess Sect to conduct investigations on suspicious individuals. In return, they report immediately on any trace of the Curse Sect and join forces to counteract them.

A draft for joint resistance has already been signed, and another meeting will be held at the end of the year, which should finalize everything.

Before that, under various pretenses, countries have begun building and reinforcing fortresses, hoping to block the Demon King’s advance on crucial fronts, possibly even launching a counterattack.

Of course, all that I’m saying, none of the countries have disclosed any of this to the public, as no one wants to plunge the citizens into panic, causing national upheaval.

Once the Demon King truly descends, the governments plan to present their prepared outcomes, uniting the people to fight together.

The Luoze Empire is responsible for liaising with the Wansheng Republic. Speaking of the Luoze Empire...

The Second Prince’s influence is noticeably rising, while the Eldest Prince seems to have fallen into lovesickness.

The Emperor Luo Hui of the Luoze Empire seems to be considering abdication recently, but he has no choice.

I found out that you are quite familiar with the Second Prince.

If he ascends to the throne, part of the credit is yours.”

”I dare not claim that, it’s all his hard work,” Yang Yu casually deflected, changing the topic.

Noticing Yang Yu’s reluctance to continue on that topic, Artie didn’t press further and began addressing other issues for Yang Yu.

After Yang Yu finished asking his questions, the roles reversed, and it was Artie’s turn to ask Yang Yu about various matters.

Taking a patient approach to the interview, Yang Yu and Artie Roosevelt chatted for an entire afternoon.

After completing the necessary interviews, Artie stood up, tipped his cowboy hat, and bade farewell to Yang Yu:

”How time flies; I should be off. If you become a hero of this world, I’d like to interview you again.”

Yang Yu nodded, not refusing, as he understood the risks Artie was embarking on, knowing that many ordinary farewells are final goodbyes.

After a brief exchange of parting words, wishing Artie a safe journey, Yang Yu watched as Artie slowly left the cold drink shop.

Before the night fully descended, Yang Yu and his companions took the opportunity to explore the vast port city, enjoying the bustling waterfront city night before peacefully sleeping in the cool sea breeze.

Time flew, and soon it was the next day.

Yang Yu rose early, disguising himself so as not to be recognized, and made his way to the agreed meeting place with Lang Yi.

Shell Sea Yacht, besides the bustling harbor above, also has an underwater city, like a reflection, where some solitary Sea-dwelling Species scatter to make a living.

Some help fishing boats out at sea; some serve as guards for merchant ships; others make crafts to sell to visiting tourists...

Mornings are the most bustling times of their city.
