The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1087: Chapter 1087: Govert Griffin is Taking Off with Nathalie Again

Amadeus Yancey inexplicably curled his lips. Seeing her, his mood automatically improved: ”Did you take a nap this afternoon?”

”Mm.” Nathalie Quinlan dragged the chair from the desk and sat down. Having just woken up, she was still in a lazy state, half-squinting her eyes, responding lazily.

Then she glanced at the video background from their side, stretched her arm straight on the table, retracted her gaze, and concisely said: ”Have you arrived at the auction?”

Amadeus Yancey raised an eyebrow, suppressing the fleeting faint light in his eyes, hummed, and said: ”The auction just started; we haven’t gotten to what we want to buy yet.”

”Oh.” Nathalie Quinlan knew what they wanted to buy, and lazily responded, seeming disinterested.

But Sadam Vinson was eavesdropping nearby, seeing Nathalie more excited than Amadeus, enthusiastically leaned over and said to the girl on the other end of the video: ”Nathalie, it’s a pity you returned to Beijing. If you hadn’t left, we could’ve gone together.”

Nathalie Quinlan lowered her eyelids, one hand resting on her leg, fingers tapping unhurriedly: ”I had to return to Beijing with Mr. Wafford and the others, couldn’t come.”

Sadam Vinson paused, showing a regretful expression: ”I know. I was just saying. If you could’ve come, we could’ve played a game together.”

”By the way. Did you arrive in Beijing?”

The video background showed the Rhine apartment, making his question seem redundant. But the girl patiently, seemingly with a good temper, said calmly: ”The airplane arrived at Capital Airport at noon. After arriving, Mr. Wafford and the others went back to school; I went to have hotpot with my dad and the others.”

She paused, then lifted her eyelids, her pure black and white eyes strikingly beautiful: ”Govert Griffin booked the room for me and even paid. I transferred the payment to him, but he didn’t accept it.”

This was directed at Amadeus Yancey.

Sure enough, the man raised his deep eyes, smiled lightly, and said gently: ”You don’t need to worry; I’ll talk to him when I get back.”

In the circle, Govert Griffin always knew how to conduct himself, and he played better with Sadam Vinson than with him. Sadam loved bringing him along to their little circle gatherings.

Supposedly in their circle, Govert Griffin’s rank wasn’t enough to join, but he knew how to behave, never caused trouble, wasn’t overly sycophantic, and was both clever and observant.

Thus, Sadam often brought him along to hang out, and no one in the small circle minded.

He hadn’t interacted with Govert Griffin much.

It was only after Nathalie Quinlan got into Tsinghua University that he increased his interaction with Govert Griffin.

Say what you will, Govert Griffin knew how to conduct himself, understanding who needed attention.

Amadeus Yancey’s white wrist peeked out from his shirt sleeve. The dark brown Buddhist beads on his wrist were low-key and restrained, making him seem like a devout Buddhist.

He picked up the cup of water beside him, sipped at it, and then casually placed it back on the table.

”I’ll thank him for you later.”

Nathalie Quinlan pondered for a moment, hummed, then looked up and said: ”Alright.”

Amadeus Yancey observed her sleepy-eyed expression, as if not completely awake, and smiled slightly. His deep eye sockets instantly became as gentle as the breezes of early spring, breaking into intoxicating warmth: ”What are your plans for tonight? Will you be scared staying at the apartment alone? Should Candice Yancey come keep you company?”

”No need.” Nathalie Quinlan declined without a second thought. She was quite unaccustomed to troubling others, especially the elders. She adjusted her arm’s pose and propped her chin up, lazily saying: ”I’m used to being alone; there’s no need to fuss. Tonight, I plan to keep on sleeping. Haven’t slept well for days, so it’s the perfect time to catch up on some rest!”
