The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 841: Chapter 841: Ghania Quinlan Also Worked on Last Year’s Practice Papers

”He’s hilarious! She thinks getting a perfect score is so easy, like she can do it every time! If acing the high school exam were that easy, it wouldn’t even be a high school exam!”

Ghania Quinlan wasn’t surprised at all and said indifferently, ”That’s just her personality. It would be strange if she didn’t talk like that.”

Emilia Sullivan knew Nathalie Quinlan was like that, arrogant and full of herself. It would indeed be surprising if she humbly said that just passing would be good enough.

But her chest felt as if it were being crushed by a heavy stone, and she struggled to breathe. All the bitterness stemmed from the previous joint exams when she had thought Ghania had it in the bag, the only one destined for Tsinghua University. Instead, Nathalie outperformed her, embarrassing them at the college entrance celebration by having so many invitees not show up, including that wretched old hag from the Tucker Family, who didn’t give them the courtesy of appearing.

Emilia Sullivan recalled all that had happened as if it were just yesterday. Clenching her teeth, she said with a forced smile, ”Yeah, that’s just how she is. She’s always been like that. You can’t tell her anything; she thinks everyone’s out to get her. After all, she isn’t my own flesh and blood. Having raised her for over a decade, I end up being the villain in her eyes. Let her be, then.”

Ghania’s voice was very soft, ”Mom, don’t think like that, it’s not your fault. You haven’t done anything wrong. The high school exam isn’t as easy as she thinks. If she wants to show off through the high school exam, let her try. As long as she doesn’t regret it, it’s fine.”

Acing the high school examination, easier said than done!

If it were so easy to get a perfect score on the high school exam, everyone would achieve it, and no one would fail to get into college.

Moreover, the difficulty of the high school exam might not be as tough as the joint exam overall, but each last question in every subject is much harder than those in the joint exam.

She had done a set of the previous year’s high school exam mock papers. In the joint exam, she had scored 588 out of 650.

After completing that set of papers, she scored only 568 out of the full 750 points. Even though the high school exam seemed less difficult than the joint exam, her score was still not as good, showing that easier appearance doesn’t guarantee better results.

For Nathalie Quinlan to aim for a perfect score on the high school exam was nothing short of a fool’s dream!

Ghania Quinlan listened as Emilia Sullivan, on the other end of the phone, described how Nathalie spoke arrogantly and with a bad attitude during the reporter’s interview, being utterly domineering...

She just slightly curled her lips, more contemptuous than ever.

She wasn’t afraid of Nathalie’s arrogance; she feared her lack of it. She was waiting for the results to have the last laugh!

Ghania Quinlan chatted with Emilia Sullivan for a bit more, then lost interest in the topic rather quickly, saying, ”Mom, I’m going to stop talking now. I really need to work on composing. My teacher is waiting for me to submit my piece to him.”

Now Emilia Sullivan’s hopes were all on her shoulders. Seeing her daughter do well eased her troubled mind, her face softened, and no longer nagging, she said, ”Alright, go ahead.”

”Ghania, make sure to balance work and rest, get enough sleep. Composing is important, but so is your health. Don’t worry me, okay?”

”I know. Hanging up now, Mom.”

Emilia Sullivan adjusted the shawl around her, her posture exuding elegance, as she gave her daughter a few more reminders and hung up the phone.

She turned on the TV again and saw it was still the same interview, but the defiant girl was no longer on screen, the reporter was interviewing another person now.

In Beijing, at the Yancey Family Residence.

Someone else was also watching the same TV broadcast.

They happened to see an interview outside a high school examination center in McKinney, and the person being interviewed was none other than Nathalie Quinlan.
