The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 807: Chapter 807: Nathalie: Is it my turn?

”I understand,” Amadeus Yancey said, his eyes betraying a cold, sharp gleam, though his voice remained indifferent, revealing no emotions. ”I’ll be right there.”

Simon Cadwell did not dare to delay and quickly responded, ”Mr. Yancey, I will also rush over as soon as possible. Don’t worry, I’ve already spoken to the police station about Ms. Quinlan’s matter; they won’t give her a hard time.”

”Mm.”

Amadeus Yancey ended the phone call.

He hadn’t even put down his phone when the man in the passenger seat eagerly asked him, ”Amadeus, how is it, Nathalie is alright, isn’t she?”

”She’s at the police station, the specifics are still unknown,” Amadeus Yancey put his phone aside, trying to suppress his anger as he spoke.

”Damn, how did she end up at the police station?” Audrick Zachmann irritably ran his fingers through his hair, his eyes bloodshot, muttering to himself, ”She couldn’t have gotten hurt, could she?”

Amadeus Yancey did not respond. He leaned his head back against the seat, eyes closed slightly as if resting, yet his left hand was on the Buddhist beads on his wrist, rapidly flicking them. Those familiar with him knew this was a sign of extreme inner turmoil and bad mood; after quite some time, he finally said, ”Alfred Garland, drive faster.”

”Okay.” Alfred Garland was also anxious. He didn’t say much, but underfoot, he pressed the accelerator to the floor. The black Phaeton shot off like an arrow released from its bow, ignoring traffic lights as it sped towards the police station...

Inside the police station.

The girl sat in the corridor outside, a coat casually draped over the bench beside her, covered in dust and seemingly no longer wearable.

But she appeared unconcerned, pulling out an outdated black phone from the coat pocket. The phone lacked any brand markings and was without a case, looking no different from those generic ones you could buy online for a few hundred bucks.

Nathalie Quinlan turned on the phone and immediately saw notifications for seven or eight missed calls.

All from Freddy Cagwin.

In addition to the missed calls, Freddy Cagwin had also sent her several messages.

From WhatsApp to text messages, and Line, he had tried every app that could possibly reach her.

[Nathalie, why can’t I get through to your phone?]

[When you see the message, give me a call back.]

[Why did you switch off the phone, don’t scare me.]

”Um,” Nathalie Quinlan squinted her eyes and lowered her gaze to the messages Freddy had sent, her fingers slender and pale as she tapped the edge of the phone, seemingly in thought. In no time, she made a phone call back to Freddy Cagwin.

”Hello? Nathalie,” as soon as the phone connected, Freddy Cagwin’s voice came rapid-fire, urgent and hasty: ”You finally returned my call. Are you okay? Where are you now? I’ll come to find you!”

Nathalie Quinlan raised her head and glanced at the police officers coming and going from the station, curving her lips into a slight smirk, ”Um, I’m fine. Tell Aunt Cagwin I probably won’t make it tonight, we can have dinner another time.”

”Forget about dinner right now, where are you? I’ll come to you!” Freddy Cagwin was frantic.

Nathalie Quinlan watched as an officer holding a notebook approached her. She lifted the edge of her eye but didn’t answer his question, ”No need to come, I really am fine.”

”But...”

In the blink of an eye, the officer had walked up to her. Holding the phone, Nathalie Quinlan spoke calmly and unhurriedly, ”Remember to tell Aunt Cagwin for me, and also, don’t talk nonsense, so she doesn’t worry.”

”I already know that without you saying it; I won’t tell her...” Freddy wanted to say more, but Nathalie Quinlan interrupted succinctly, ”That’s all, I’ll hang up now, we’ll talk later.”

”Nathalie, I...”

Nathalie Quinlan hung up the phone and put it down, lifting her gaze towards the female police officer who had approached her and asked with composure, ”Is it my turn?”

The female police officer responsible for taking her transcript: ...
