Chapter 131: Chapter 98: Mistakes Come With a Price

”Players will resurrect at the nearest revival point...”

Baiyi muttered, his eyes showing some seriousness. Everything had changed.

The number of player slots had changed from ten million to eighteen million, and they were no longer restricted to areas near a particular city.

In other words, as long as the players are persistent, those six million players could all converge in one city.

And according to the update, there are only thirty revival points across the entire Federation, meaning all the major cities will be the stage for the players. Those cities with just a Silver City Lord, on the other hand, will remain unaffected by players.

Beep beep... beep beep...

A mechanical sound interrupted Baiyi’s thoughts. These past few days, he hadn’t invented anything mainly because, if the smart brain was just a computer or instrument, it would be quite cumbersome.

He planned to change it, maybe into contact lenses or micro machinery, which would undoubtedly be more convenient. However, such a change would require more time, and five days surely wouldn’t be enough.

Walking out of the laboratory, Baiyi immediately saw the somewhat anxious Sabo, as well as Aileen, who had just completed her inheritance.

”Boss!”

Aileen’s eyes lit up with delight as it was payday again. After a month’s inheritance period, she worked a few days, then slept for half a month and saw a wage increase, and when she woke up again, it was payday.

Which worker is as lucky as her?

”What happened?” Baiyi ignored Aileen, directly asking Sabo because he could see from Sabo’s expression that the guy had caused trouble, and it wasn’t a small one.

Sabo glanced at Aileen, then stepped forward and whispered, ”My friend, the City Lord will be looking for you later. Let’s talk as we walk.”

Later?

Baiyi raised an eyebrow, walking out. Sabo quickly followed, glancing around sneakily, then whispered, ”My friend, first of all, I want to congratulate you.”

Baiyi slightly paused, then continued walking, though the relaxed mood he had slightly sank.

He asked nonchalantly, ”Why do you say that?”

”Well... hehehe, I’ve been the Finance Officer for thirteen days, and within these thirteen days, the city’s profits have exceeded ten billion Gold Coins. What do you think? Surprised?” Sabo chuckled, lowering his voice.

Baiyi’s heart sank completely, and his footsteps slowed as he tentatively asked, ”Minerals?”

Sabo looked a bit embarrassed, ”Business, business. A Legislator Clan sold us fifty tons of Mithril for the high price of 500 Gold Coins... hehe, they’re the most generous family I’ve ever met.”

Baiyi: ....

He stopped dead in his tracks and turned back, thinking this was a pitfall, a huge trap indeed.

And let’s not forget the price of Mithril. Fifty tons are worth five billion, and Sabo mentioned more than ten billion.....

Sabo’s voice was somewhat plaintive, ”My friend, I haven’t finished speaking yet; are you sure you don’t want a penny?”

Baiyi hesitated, finally turning back and slowly walked towards the City Lord’s Mansion, ”What else? Tell me everything.”

Sabo embarrassedly scratched his head, ”Hehe... well... the same clan entered into a friendly contract with Dongwu City. Not only did they sell us Mithril, but they also intended to hire Dongwu City’s most professional Resource Collector, Sabo, to help them quickly gather Mithril from the mine, and their hiring fee was 50% of that vein’s yield, estimated at a total of 150 tons of Mithril in that newly discovered vein.”

Baiyi gradually grew numb, ”And what else?”

”Uh, you’re really smart, my friend.”

Sabo sincerely praised, then went on, ”Still that generous family....”

Baiyi: ....

Baiyi couldn’t hold back and interrupted, ”You know, Sabo, maybe next time be a bit more flexible with your targets. Otherwise, it’s easy to make deadly enemies.”

”Let me finish, my friend. This time it’s really not my fault,” Sabo helplessly shrugged, ”Initially, things would’ve just ended like that; everyone had signed friendly, notarized contracts. But it was they who first breached the contract, trying to dismiss me.”

”The contract clearly stated that terminating my employment required a breach penalty, so.... I brought back 150 tons of Mithril.”

Baiyi’s heart hit rock bottom and then bounced back; 150 tons of Mithril, priced at ten Gold Coins per gram, amounting to fifteen billion Gold Coins.

Furthermore, Mithril, being an ultra-high-value metal, had a circulation in all of Dongwu City of no more than 500 kilograms, so acquiring such a large amount was still quite difficult.

Thinking of it, he put some thoughts aside, his face now smiling again, ”Mr. Sabo, it’s obvious the other party breached the contract first. Don’t worry, this won’t affect you. But shouldn’t you explain how this all happened?”

Sabo’s smile blossomed completely; he knew he could slightly raise the bar for future operations.

”It’s nothing much, I initially planned to collaborate with several City Lords, but on the way, I saw a Secret Silver Mine being exposed, so I changed partners to the Rena Clan, aiming to reserve some Mithril on behalf of Dongwu City.”

”Next, I carelessly spread the Evil God’s curse in the Mithril Mine, though they didn’t know, and it was their own carelessness, not thoroughly checking the contract, and that’s how it ended up like this.” 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

Sabo smiled, ”My friend, let me tell you, the situation was very dangerous; those guys were preparing to attack me. Luckily, I wrote multiple layers of contracts, or I wouldn’t have made it back.”
